• House should focus on investigating Trump as first priority
After seeing current state of country, I have doubts America's democracy can survive after trump presidency. We need to get back on our feet and be the beacon of hope and model of democracy across world. That is more important on boosting corporate profit or any other short term focused issues. We must protect the true intent of democracy.

  • Elect Barbara Lee to House Leadership
We are organizers who represent working-class communities of color all around America. Our government still does not represent the interests of our people, and we need leaders in Washington, D.C. who will fight for equity, justice, and peace. It’s time to put the #LeeInLeadership. The election is Wednesday, November 28th, so there’s no time to waste. Please sign today. In September 2001, every member of the House and Senate voted to give the president a blank check to fight endless wars. All except one, that is. Progressive champion Rep. Barbara Lee stood alone and predicted that the war would expand and damage America's moral reputation. Now, she is running to be Chair of the Democratic Caucus in the House of Representatives – and we need to make sure her colleagues understand the need for her progressive leadership, support her candidacy, and make her the first Black woman in the leadership of either Party. We need stronger leadership in the House, and Rep. Barbara Lee is the perfect choice. She is: - A consistent progressive champion who supports bold yet commonsense ideas like Medicare for All and a living wage. -A gutsy and principled representative who opposed the Authorization for the Use of Military Force (AUMF) in 2001 despite knowing the backlash would lead to death threats. -A proven leader who has led the Congressional Progressive Caucus and Congressional Black Caucus and been vice chair of the LGBT Equality Caucus. -A consensus builder and doer who has worked across the aisle in support of progressive goals like repealing the AUMF or saving lives by pushing to increase HIV/AIDS federal funding under Bush. -As Rep. Lee put it: “It’s time. African-American women have been the smartest and most loyal voters for the Democratic Party, and often we don’t get the recognition or the involvement at the highest levels.” Rep. Lee has already announced her candidacy for chair of the House Democratic Caucus, the fifth-ranking position. We need to make our voices heard – and now, while representatives are still making up their minds. The election is Wednesday, November 28th, so we don’t have much time to convince the members of Congress that we need #LeeInLeadership. Tell House Democrats: Make Rep. Barbara Lee a caucus leader. Thank you for speaking out.

  • The People of Florida Deserve Their Voices to Be Heard with: RANKED CHOICE VOTING
Ranked choice voting allows voters to rank as many candidates as they want in order of choice--first, second, third, and so on. All first choices are counted, and if a candidate has a majority, then they win, just like any other election. However if nobody has a majority, the candidate with the fewest votes is eliminated, and those voters have their ballot instantly count for their next choice. This process continues until a candidate receives a majority of votes, and is declared the winner. In 2016, Maine voters voted “yes” on a ballot question to adopt ranked choice voting for all statewide elections. In doing so, they became the first state to make vote-splitting and the concept of “spoiler candidates” a thing of the past. Other cities and states should follow their lead. Ranked choice voting gives you the freedom to vote for the candidate you like the best without worrying you'll help to elect the candidate you like the least. We are asking the elected officials in the state of Florida to let the people's voices be heard and allow RANKED CHOICE VOTING in all Florida elections. Works cited: fairvote.org

  • We want you to support Nancy Pelosi
Nancy Pelosi unselfishly lead the resistance teams providing guidance and action plans to support every candidate who won in the 2018 midterms. The #Bluewave members wholeheartedly appreciate her leadership, guidance, knowledge and fundraising savvy. Ms. Pelosi guided our actions on a grassroots level - texting, phone banking, door knocking postcards, tweeting responses to republican members of congress, and guided us in our #BlueWave win for 2018. We need the same as we ready for 2020.

  • House Republicans Must Expel Steve King From Their Conference
Congressman Steve King (R-IA) is openly pushing white nationalist policies and meeting with white nationalist politicians in Canada and Europe. In the weeks leading up to election day, Steve King traveled to Austria to be interviewed by Caroline Sommerfeld of the Austrian far-right propaganda site Unzensuriert (which means “uncensored” in English). Sommerfeld is a prominent leader in Europe’s neo-fascist identitarian movement. In his conversation with Sommerfeld, King discussed his belief in the superiority of white European culture over others and talked at length about his belief that Europe and America are threatened by Muslim and Latino immigration. And the conservative Weekly Standard reported on election night that King had referred to Mexican immigrants as "dirt." However, these are just the latest developments highlighting King's extremest agenda. For years, Republicans have allowed Steve King to use their party platform to promote an agenda of racism and xenophobia. The House Republican Conference can expel Steve King from their caucus with a 2/3 majority vote. While some Republicans have taken steps to denounce Steve King's racist rhetoric, a vote to expel him would show that they are serious about cutting ties with the white nationalist wing of their party. That's why House Republicans should immediately vote to expel Steve King.

  • Support downtown cannabis zoning in Haverhill
Haverhill residents voted overwhelmingly for legalization in 2016. The mayor and the city council should show leadership by enacting downtown zoning for the same fairness provided to liquor stores, bars, and restaurants.

  • Tulsi Gabbard for Speaker of House
Progressive Democrats have expressed a clear preference for Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard to be the Speaker of the House. Whereas National exit polls show that over half of Americans who voted Tuesday hold an unfavorable view of Pelosi, newly elected House members said they would vote against Pelosi in favor of a progressive Democrat. WE THE PEOPLE believe that Rep Tulsi Gabbard by virtue of her strong leadership is the clear choice for our new FDR progressive Democratic Party

  • Give Jim Acosta Back His Press Credential
Jim Acosta is a CNN White House reporter. We believe his press pass was revoked not only for the incident last night, but because President Trump who referred to how the 'press' treats 'Sarah Huckabee' during his rallies and press conferences. Sarah Huckabee Sanders has attacked Mr. Acosta during afternoon press conferences upon multiple occasions. Ms. Sanders issued a lengthy lie-filled account on her Twitter feed last night and also released a doctored video from a right-wing conspiracy program. What this White House seems to ignore is written clearly in the First Amendment of the constitution. Jim Acosta is representing the American people by asking questions on our behalf.....questions this White House refuses to answer. The White House needs to remember they work for the American people. Please sign and share this petition demanding the White House restore Jim Acosta's right to do his job.

  • Tell acting attorney general Matthew Whitaker to recuse himself from the Mueller investigation
Trump is scared and desperate after Republicans lost the House. Trump knows his corruption will finally be exposed so he forced Attorney General Jeff Sessions to resign. He then put Matthew Whittaker in charge of the Department of Justice in what seems like a clear effort to undermine the Mueller investigation. This is a moment of crisis for our nation and we need to be assured that Whitaker does not interfere as Trump clearly wants him to. That's why we're demanding Matthew Whitaker immediately recuse himself from any involvement in the Mueller investigation.
