Tough New Disclosure Requirements & Campaign Reforms: Pass new legislation authored by Senator Al...There's a lot that's great about being a public servant in California. But there's one thing about politics here (and frankly, nationwide) that needs to change -- and that's the influence of special interests. That's why I introduced this legislation (the ACT Plan) in the California State Senate. While my legislation is common sense, it faces stiff opposition from insiders who prefer the status quo. My legislative package would: - Require weekly contribution disclosures. - Require overnight disclosure of advertising. - Ban contributions to legislators in the final 100 days of a session, when hundreds of bills are voted on, reducing the influence of special interests. - Restrict politicians to one campaign at a time, so someone can no longer get around regulation by cumulatively raising more from a contributor than contribution limits allow for a single campaign.259 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Senator Alex Padilla

Albany: Women shouldn't be paid poverty wagesMore than 100 women leaders from government, business, and the non-profit world have all signed a letter to Governor Cuomo and leaders in Albany demanding that they raise the wage in New York. Click here to see the letter. Across this state, nearly 3 million low-wage workers are hardly being paid enough to get by, and they're disproportionately women. To add insult to injury, not only is there a stark gap between what women and men get paid, but it's a divide that grows even wider if you're a woman of color. Will you co-sign our letter by signing on to this petition to Governor Cuomo and leaders in Albany calling on them to raise the wage in New York?1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Rosemary Rivera

VOTE NO HB 768A BILL TO STOP St. George, Louisiana IN HOUSE COMMITTEE THURSDAY (APRIL 10th) AFTERNOON. HB 768 by Rep. Ed Price will be heard in the House Committee on Municipal & Parochial Affairs when the House adjourns Thursday afternoon. The bill would limit incorporation petition drives to 180 days and put other restrictions on incorporation. The St. George drive has already exceeded that time limit. Apparently, the bill would apply to petition drives in progress. This is a liberal committee with 11 Democrats and 5 Republicans, an anomaly in the Louisiana House, which is majority Republican. The public is invited to appear and testify. The committee will meet in Room 6. GIVE US OUR BRIDGE GATE MONEY BACK!I am tired of self –serving, fiscally irresponsible politicians! As a resident of Fort Lee, I was affected by Bridge Gate. Our Governor acts like a “thug” and makes decisions that benefit himself and his political team, but certainly not the people of New Jersey!381 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Sherry Lottero

Burr and Hagan: Support Paycheck FairnessThe Paycheck Fairness Act, introduced last year, would make it easier for women to sue for sex discrimination in wages, and prohibit employer retaliation against workers for discussing how much they make. This would go a very long way in closing the wage gap that has persisted between men and women for decades. Currently in North Carolina, women who are employed full time lose a combined total of approximately $9,801,729,458 every year due to the wage gap. Families, businesses and the economy suffer as a result. These lost wages mean families have less money to spend on goods and services that help drive economic growth. We must do more to help equalize the pay between men and women in the workplace, and this is a great place to start. Call on Senator Richard Burr and Senator Kay Hagan to vote in support of the Paycheck Fairness Act and help all North Carolina families get ahead.1,468 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Kevin J. Marathon, TX Post OfficeThe reason why we are staring this petition is because many post office box holders are not receiving their mail on time, as well other important packages, we have had various people in town lose everyday utilities, cut off (ex. electricity, water, cell phones, etc..) we need to stop this. We hope service gets better and improves in many ways, either by reprimand or an official USPS change for a new worker to service this area.13 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Marathon Resident

Arrowhead Student Housing PetitionThe proposed student housing project would displace 200 people living in the Arrowhead trailer park. Without the low income housing to absorb newly displaced people, their lives will be completely pulled up from under them. If rezoning is approved, the large developer wants to negotiate one-by-one with the homeowners, leaving these families in a position to be taken advantage of. This type of behavior is unacceptable in the community of Flagstaff, and we need to stand up for the most vulnerable people of our community.461 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Robert Douglass

Reform Child Support NOW!I have been personally affected by the current child support system in a negative manner. The current law is outdated, unfair, and in many instances, unconstitutional. Reform is needed so that the modern family and our diverse situations can be correctly addressed. This will ensure that proper guidelines are being mandated and followed. No child deserves to be subjected to witnessing their parent fall victim to the child support system.11,864 of 15,000 SignaturesCreated by N.K Clark
