• Conneticut the first Gun Free State
Guns are the primary cause of murder. A gun is a tool that is made for killing! Killing is against the law so why are guns legal ?

  • Do Not Steal My Retirement
I went to school for more than 20 years to earn a PhD and then worked for the US Government. During my Federal tenure, my ability to receive Social Security benefits from funds I had paid into the Social Security Fund before working for the Government were reduced by one-half to two-thirds. The original deal (promise) was, I pay in so that I receive a calculated amount when I reach retirement, based on my earnings. Further reductions in Social Security is a continuation of this cold, hard thievery by those in suits and furs (Congress). Stop, get your paws out of my purse. As a solution, first, Congress should take a big pay cut; Congress makes very little effort to learn how to get along and negotiate, like petulant, spoiled children with jam down their fronts. Let's also cut Congress' pension by two-thirds. This would be based on "they don't deserve it" - true, and "they don't need it" - most likely true. Lesson: Don't rob Social Security, a fund entrusted to the Government for those who worked and paid in. This is not your money to manipulate and steal. Congress, get extensive instruction on how to get along and also learn how to think of and thank others whose shoulders you stand on. I know you think you are all big deals; but really, you are lazy, puffed up, have poor memories and have forgotten for whom you work. And, perhaps you should exercise and go to church, on your own dime, not mine.

  • Bill and act Simplification and transperency
In response to the way in which a powerful bill like the "Affordable Care Act" was watered down in committee to reflect the interests of the medical insurance and pharmaceutical interests, it would be best to limit the size of bills and acts. The Affordable Care Act contains 234,812 words, the constitution 7,000 words. The constitution has been the contract between our people and its government for over 200 years.

  • End Real Entitlements-cut Congress'
Ending all the entitlements our Congress provides to itself would be a very meaningful way to increase our country's revenue, save us taxpayers a bundle, and make sure our elected folks serve our needs not their own.

  • Safety for Oregonians
This latest shooting in Connecticut of innocent children and adults is horrible. It's going to take mothers to sign this petition to get Congress to once again ban assault weapons and also provide funding for mental health so that these troubled angry shooters get help before they go on another rampage. I want to see millions of mothers (and dads) sign this petition. This senseless violence has to stop.

  • Tell Rep. Van Hollen, "Cut Pentagon waste, not Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid
Key to resolving the so-called "fiscal cliff"/deficit crisis, Congress must cut wasteful Pentagon spending. It is out of control and defense contractor CEOs couldn’t be happier. Even though the Iraq War is over, and the drawdown in Afghanistan continues, contractor CEOs making up to $26,000,000 a year are lobbying their friends on Capitol Hill to protect their exorbitant corporate salaries and profits, all at the expense of middle class and military families. Enough is enough. CUT THE PENTAGON WASTE and strengthen, not cut, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and other real and pressing needs!

  • Gun control
for the past years, our country has witnessed all the tragedies in our schools as a result of irresponsible people who had access to firearms. We need more regulations on the use and handling of firearms.
