This election has garnered more millions than any other to support candidates running for office. All the candidates talk about caring about the people of the United States while spending great amounts of money to "call each other names" in the national Media. This needs to change. FOR EVERY $5.00 A CAMPAIGN RECEIVES THEY SHOULD BE DONATING $2.00 TOWARDS A "COMMON GOOD" CAUSE.

Primarily Ineffective Legislative and Executive branch. Gridlock does not do the business of the american people.

When Americans apply for a job, falsifying information on the job application is grounds for firing. Lying on your resume is also grounds for dismissal. Therefore, candidates for political office should not be permitted to campaign based on lies. Individuals wishing to be considered for political office should be required to define their platform, detail their plans and ideas, and defend their position with facts. Political candidates are required to 'approve' political ads, but they are not required to be honest in those ads. The American public has a right to the truth and is entitled to be able to consider the facts presented by all candidates, and to be confident that they are receiving factual information prior to casting their vote. Lying to the American public in order to garner votes for political office is unethical and should be illegal.

We have lawmakers without the most basic understandings of science itself who are serving on our Congressional Committee on Science. How can we ever scientifically advance as a country with legislators like this?

Voters should select their representatives, not the other way around. The two political parties have made a complete mess of our electoral process by corrupting it at its foundation. In an effort to make elections more about which side has the better ideas and to reduce the political divide in our country, I propose that the power to create voting districts be taken away from whatever partisan faction is in control and that voting districts be created by a "jury" of citizens tasked with creating political voting districts with only raw population data, no voter registration information, to work with.

Every four years the major media outlets have declared the winners in Federal elections before the polls in California, Alaska and Hawaii close. The votes in those states are marginalized by the already declared winner. There should be a election law that Major Media Outlets are prohibited from making any national projection until the polls in these western states are closed. They can report present, official vote totals when that individual state poll closes, but no national projection on the next President of the United States. (or lessor federal office)

250 million adults over the age of 18 living in the US, all having the opportunity to donate $3 to the general election campaign on their yearly tax return (x's 4 years, that a lot of money!) simply by ticking the little box on your return. Its paid by the government so your tax return doesn't change.

Our congresspeople are signing pledges to a lobbyiest that swears not to raise taxes under any circumstances, in spite of the fact that we have a ballooning deficit and polls show that most americans agree that we should both cut spending AND raise taxes to combat the deficit. These congresspeople are violating their oath of office and should be impeached!

I am very concerned about my Social Security Retirement Benefits and Health Insurance: Medicare/Medicaid. If Congress has the same concerns about their own retirement and health care, they will make the right choices for all of us.

Congress votes themselves special retirement systems, special health care systems, special pensions. They lose contact with the lives of the ordinary citizens they represent. I and many other folks are counting on Social Security benefits and Medicare/Medicaid to be there for us in our old age. If Congress must use this system, they will keep it in good working order!

In 2000, we saw that the man elected by the majority of the popular vote in America, LOST the election due to a shortage of electoral votes. The Electoral College is an anachronism, established back when communication between sates took days, even weeks. Now it is instantaneous. There is no need for it, and it can significantly skew election outcomes.
