Single Issue BillsEvery congressional bill is a quagmire of unrelated pet projects and issues. Let us insist that each issue stand alone and be posted on line for constituant comment. This is the ONE reform on which every citizen can agree, regardless of political position.8 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Anne Burkhart

Calling for Allegheny County GOP Chairman Jim Roddey apologyIt is always fine to have a difference of opinion. Every day, you have to work with others who have a different opinion than you. Being mature enough actually work through your differences, and that of the other person, or group, to get things accomplished is at the very foundation of our democracy. So any person holding any office who represents any political affiliation, especially one of the major political parties, and resorts to calling a person, or groups of people, names are childish and should not be tolerated. Here is the offense. Allegheny County GOP Chairman Jim Roddey said: "There was a disappointment tonight. I was very embarrassed," Roddey told the crowd, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "I was in this parking lot and there was a man looking for a space to park, and I found a space for him. And I felt badly–he looked like he was sort of in distress. And I said, 'Sir, here's a place.' And he said, 'That's a handicapped space.' I said, 'Oh, I'm so sorry, I saw that Obama sticker, and I thought you were mentally retarded.'" (Copied from The Huffington Post.) I am requesting that this person apologize in public and in print to the Republican Party, to all handicapped individuals, and to mentally challenged persons for using the derogatory comment to further polarize people and damaging the integrity of the electoral process.178 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Anthony Kennedy

Amendment for Congress Term-LimitsOur Founding Fathers never intended for politics to be a "career" and once you've served your term, you go home. I believe that Congressional members should have term limits just as the President and Governors do. They get too comfy with all the perks and prestige and then spend up to half their term fundraising and campaigning for re-election. Who's doing their job they were elected for while they are out of their office? Term limits of no more than three terms. Then they go back to their "real life." This might have a positive effect on campaign financing as well. Please sign the petition if you believe Congress should have term limits.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Cynthia Schultheis

Congress: End Mindless Regulation.Americans are over-regulated with complex laws. Elected officials are voting on laws/bills which they have not read; yet they expect citizens to abide by them. Why should a regulation be thousands of pages long? I recently heard a member of the House who did not even understand the questions being asked about a regulation.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Cal D.

End the FilibusterIt is time we as a country put a stop to the filibustering procedures of the US senate. Why should one senator or minority party be able to veto the will of the people, congress and the president of the United States? We are fighting two wars and coming out of our worst financial crisis since the great depression. One person should not be able to stop our government from functioning as is the case in the US senate today. Our constitution states that the president is the only person who has veto powers. These powers can be overturned with a 2/3 vote by congress but the filibuster process vetoes the president, congress and our constitutional rights daily. When a legislative procedure proves to be greater than our constitution it must be eliminated. The only acceptable form of filibustering should be one that is very limited in its' scope in terms of time, frequency and duration, and does not require a super majority vote. Using the senate as an example on filibustering, why prevent states from filibustering over congressional members and not let them be seated after being elected? As you can see this would be wrong. The filibuster has proved to be a congressional veto by its' action and history and must be eliminated. I believe we have a right to debate but our right to debate should not stop our right to proceed with a majority vote by congress that the filibuster now stops.173 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Lamont Warren
