The city of Garden Grove has no program in place to ensure the last remaining historic properties are not bulldozed. The City Council refuses to acknowledge or respect our last remaining historic properties. My home was built in 1888 and has called the most beautiful home in the city by many people. Unfortunately, it is not protected from redevelopment. The city had long ago deemed it worthy of being placed on the National Register of Historic Places with a Grade A status. I have asked the council many times for their support in registering my home, the Gem Theater as well as the Stanley-Ware Ranch and Lake Home on Euclid, but they have ignored the issue for years now. Please tell them that preservation matters to you and you want to Garden Grove to adopt the Mills Act.

The Republican legislature here in Utah has refused to release the redisticting records citing as their reason that it is not in the public's interest. The Democratic party has already paid the initial amount requested by the Republican led legislature in order to release them. After accepting the payment, they turned around and said that they would need an additional $9,000.00 and that no one but the Democrats would be interested in these papers. In the name of transparency, I urge the Republicans to make these records available to everyone.

With all the talk about voter repression, states limiting extra voting hours at the polls, more voter's having to come up with more ID's our poor and senior's, and the disabled. I feel it's time to stop this. It is every American's right to vote for who they want. Lets give American's a free day like our other holiday's and make it easier for everyone to get to the polls to vote. There's no excuse, voter fraud is less than .00004% in this country. Let's give the elections back to the people where it belongs..

Voters must know what is true before they can make decisions that are in their own best interest and that of our country. It would be best if the fact checking is done during the commercials and then before the next round of debates, the fact-checkers' findings could be read without comment. This would be much more powerful than reading about it in the newspapers the next day.

As we have seen this election year, certain candidates do not feel they should have to share their IRS income tax return with the nation when they run for office. I believe the policy needs to be changed as the President helps set the budget and choose where the tax money is spent.

The U S Congress men and women have become careers for many and have lost touch with what it is like to live in the hometowns and live by the same rules. So since the positions started out as civil service commitments and not careers let's continue the concept the founding fathers had in mind. In addition, the Congress men and women spend too much of their time in their re-election effort rather than in guiding the country and negotiating with the "other side of the aisle".

Congress has spent countless hours debating funding for the federal government, simply because our elected representatives are more interested in representing their parties and lobbyists instead of the people who elected them. This gridlock has threatened to shut down the federal government more than once. I feel that the primary job description of a member of Congress should be, "to keep the federal government functioning."

Seneators and Congress people should have a term limit of three terms.

Thousands of acres of public land are being destroyed by gold miners along the Resurrection Creek in Hope, Alaska. When the moratorium on patents is lifted, the mining claim owner will attain the title to this land immediately. This law is archaic. We can no longer afford to give up land as in 1872, when land was plenty and development and settlement important. This law is giving our land to miners (uranium, silver, gold, copper, etc.) across the country, and we are not only losing land to companies but the bonds they must put forth are not nearly enough to clean up the damage done. All of this is based on 1872 prices. There is only a temporary moratorium on patents (which gives miners title to public lands). This must be renewed every year through an addendum to the budget (i.e. no money can be spent on giving people patents.) The people are getting no benefit from the mining operations that devastate the land.

We must demand from our political leaders the truth. Our Politicians must be truthful in their advertisements because, how are we suppose to make intelligent decisions based on lies.

Allow Rocky Anderson, the 2012 Presidential candidate of the independent party, the Justice Party, participate in the Presidential debates this year. The Republican and Democratic Parties control the presidential debates and exclude third party candidates. This is antithetical to democracy. We petition the Commission on Presidential Debates to allow Rocky Anderson to participate in all of the presidential debates this year.

All federally elected officials be required to take drug tests on a monthly basis.
