I am a Minnesotain and I am ashamed of Michele Bachmann. Her hate and unsupported statements continue to ruin peoples' lives from around the country. It's time that we DEMAND her removal from Congress, either by her own will, or by pressure from her own party and the US at large.

i think we have all been affected, by this do nothing congress. if most or all members had been in the public sector with a work record like this they would have been fired.

The Tea Party has spent a lot of energy insisting that in order to collect unemployment, welfare or any other form of government assistance, that we need to drug test the recipents. We need put to a vote the concept of buying a weapon requires a clean drug test too.

Qualified Immunnity in the courts, politics and in the legal world allows a special group of people to be free of all penalties. The commoner is subject to all penalities. fines, loss of jobs, prison. The people that created and made legal this entittlement, are the very special group that enjoys its luxury. No fines, no job loss and no prison sentence. Any person who had suffered any of these penalties in this country are the commoner. We ask you to take a hard look at what is happening in the United States Senate. We are losing our democracy and the chief responsibility lies with Harry Reid. Senator Reid is the Majority Leader in the U.S. Senate for the Democrats and he not only squandered the wins and mandates of the 2008 election for the Democrats, he has turned democracy itself on it's head, by failing to act effectively on behalf of the majority of Americans who voted in U.S. Senate races. We are Democrats. In 2008 we worked hard to get Democrats elected to office and we achieved a huge mandate by electing President Obama and strong majorities in the Senate and the House of Representatives. Harry Reid has essentially nullified these wins. Since 2008 Senate Republicans have used the filibuster to block everything they can. The recent Republican filibusters are at a historic high and have resulted in the Senate being tied in knots. Harry Reid failed to use his bully pulpit to shame this practice from the start, and in January 2011 he failed to tighten the filibuster rules to prevent this overdose. We can blame Republicans all we want, but the truth is; Harry Reid is incompetent as the Senate Majority Leader and he has neglected his responsibility to represent us. Senator Reid created Super Committees comprised of equal numbers of Republicans to Democrats, again negating the strong mandate of the 2008 elections for Democrats, and negating the majorities we won in 2010. Harry Reid needs to be replaced now; preferably no later than September 2012. We ask our Democratic Senators to select a colleague who will keep a dialogue with the American people, explaining clearly and concisely what major legislation is being drafted and why it is important. We ask for a respected, progressive Democrat with persuasive speaking skills and a full understanding of how to use the Senate Rules most effectively and in keeping with ideals of representing the will of the people. With the above qualities in mind, we suggest the following U.S. Senators be considered most strongly for this critical position: Sharrod Brown, Richard Durbin, Tom Harkin, Patty Murray, Charles Schumer and Sheldon Whitehouse. This petition is not about stopping persons who want to protect their homes from doing so. It is about taking control. It's time to come up with a new plan to protect the populace.

Electing the President of the United States by direct one person, one vote. Ending the outdated electoral college system which in effect, disenfranchises the majority of Americans who are in either safe Democratic or safe Republican states. Our presidential elections are decided by maybe 10 states. This flies in the face of democracy. There are several ways to do this, constitutional amendment, or through the state legislatures who would vote to apportion their electors. It is absurd to maintain the electoral college. This petition is about congress getting special tax payer subsidized insurance while so many millions of American citizens cannot afford to buy their own. It is also about holding them accountable to any and all changes they make to the Affordable Health Care Act.

I'm petitioning the enacting of gun laws that will do a better job in keeping guns out of the hands of those with mental issues that should preclude them from purchasing or owning guns--something needs to be done NOW. I'm a survivor of a shooting similar to the one in Colorado. Mine was in Salt Lake City in a mall called Trolley Square--lots of people died there too.
