  • Arlington, TX: Support trap-neuter-return
During the month of May, Arlington Animal Services euthanized almost 500 cats. We don't know how many of them were feral, because the records don't tell us that, but what we do know is that any feral cat that comes to AAS is euthanized almost immediately, since they are not adoptable. Using a low end estimate for what it costs a municipality to trap and kill an animal, Arlington likely spent $30,000 in May alone to kill cats. There are approximately 60,000 feral/stray cats in Arlington. Trap-and-kill methods cannot possibly keep up with the birth rate in that large a cat population. TNR is the only humane and fiscally responsible way to deal with this problem.

  • Constitutional Ammendent to Repeal Citizens United
We the people demand an ammendment to the U.S. constitution to prohibit corporations from making campaign contributions to any person running for public office, directly or indirectly. We also insist that there be a limit to the ammount a private individual can contribute to the campaign funds of elected officials or parties. No one person should be permitted to contribute more than $100,000 in total per year to all the campaigns they choose to support. Our elections are not for sale. We will choose our candidates based on their ability to serve the people who elect them, not on their ability to raise advertising funds. Campaign spending must be fully disclosed, regulated and limited.

  • TERM LIMITS FOR MARIN COUNTY SUPERVISORS
There are nine San Francisco Bay Area Counties. Marin County is one of if not the only county without term limits. Marin is home to the most undeveloped wild lands in the Bay Area. There are tens of thousands of acres of open space developers want. Marin supervisors are often supported by pro development groups from as far away as Los Angles. One supervisor has sat for sixteen years in a district that was specifically laid out by his predecessor to be impossible to beat an incumbent (he just won a fifth term out spending his rival by many times). The predecessor retired after 30 years and could never be dislodged from office. Marin County deserves new ideas and eight years is enough to effect change while in office. All of Marin County will benefit from this change.

  • Amend the Scranton Home Rule Charter to Require Referendum Votes for Bond Issuance
The City of Scranton and it's authorities have issued bonds with out regard for the will of the people. City residents have no leverage to oppose or approve either a bond issuance from the city or financially backing a bond issuance from one of the city's authorities yet are required to bear the financial burden as taxpayers. Citizens in other cities around the country are required to hold referendums and receive a majority "Yes" vote before bond issuance. It's time for the citizens of Scranton to have that same voice.

  • Ask President Obama to Save America's Wild Horses
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is rounding up America's wild horses and forcing them into inhumane living conditions. There is evidence that some of our wild horses are being sold to Mexican slaughterhouses. I want our children to be able to view these icons of freedom in the wild on OUR public lands. President Obama can end the roundups with an Executive Order.

  • Permanent Congressional Term Limits
    H. J. RES. 20 has been introduced for possible congressional consideration. It will enact term limits for congress, but it allows them to be re-elected one year after they've reached their 12 year limit. This is insufficient. Fight to have this resolution modified to enact permanent term limits and pushed through congress!

  • Mitt Romney: Share Your Financial History With Us...So History Doesn't Repeat Itself
Dear Mr. Romney, We The People are very concerned about the integrity of our leadership. We've been lied to, lead astray, and taken to the cleaners by leaders we trusted and thier often secret special interests for generations, and we want to know you're not doing the same. We need to know that who we're voting for personally understands our concerns and upholds the same standards and accountability being demanded of us, at the very least, and in these times of rapid global change, we expect and need someone of pristine character, and the track record to prove it, at the top. We'd feel far better knowing your history reflects the high integrity we expect from the leader of our country as we navigate the changes that need to happen. We've also got some 'character repair' to do in the global arena and our own back yard. We need to know that you can also withstand the scrutiny of the rest of the world and represent us with highest honor and integrity. If we're going to consider you as the ideal candidate for all of that, we need you to prove your worth by offering full financial disclosure to US including tax returns, professional affiliations, charity and other donations, and campaign finance documentation. That includes the specifics about your "Bain years." If you've got nothing to hide, there should be no problem making this information public. If you've got some explaining to do, now's the time. It's time to end the speculation and hearsay. We know you'll do the right thing and share what we're asking for immediately, so we can know you can be trusted with our future well being, rebuilding our integrity in the world arena, and our votes. Sincerely, We The People

  • Limit Campaign Spending and Eliminate Corporate and Individual Financing of Political Campaigns
If we are to have a true democracy, that is representative of the voice of the people, then we must change how political campaigns are financed. We must eliminate the possibility that our President and legislature can be bought.
