Cut pay and benefits to elected officialsOur federally elected officials are not in touch with the reality lived by their constituents. They deserve to be compensated for their work, but shared sacrifice demands that they share in the budgetary cuts and challenges that face those constitutents.77 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Kathryn Moore

Limit Terms for Congress and SenateWith the total lack of bi-partianship, the "old school" ways of the far right and left, and the desire of our citizens to "throw out the old, bring in the new", why not refresh the Senate and Congress by limiting everyone to 2 terms in office? Stop the voting for the incumbent syndrome, return these folks to their jobs and reality.43 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Susan Hambelton

Congress Needs to Take a Pay Cut!Congressman Eric Canter wants to offset Disaster Relief costs with Budget Cuts. Worse he has the gall to say so following tornadoes and hurricanes that caused multiple deaths while taking a government pay check and wearing a $2000 suite! Congressman Southerland of Florida claims it’s a burden to serve in Congress and he’s not being fairly compensated for his suffering: long hours, time away from family (being in Washington for 2 out of every 3 weeks and only getting the month of August at home to make up for it) and the treat to his life that come with the $174,000 a year – it could be worse, he could be going through all that in a war zone for 1/4th of that pay check.14 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Nicole M. Help Save the U S Postal ServiceRep Darrell Issa (R-CA) is attempting to introduce legislation which would dismantle the Postal Service and the collective bargaining agreement between labor & management. He states that the Postal Service is "bleeding money". Far from being a burden on the taxpayer, the USPS has, according to reports by the Inspector General and outside auditors, been overcharged by $50-75 BILLION for its employees pensions, thus subsidizing the Federal Treasury. In addition, in 2006, Congress and President Bush imposed an additional $5.5 billion annual tax on the USPS. The tax was supposedly to finance the health benefits of potential future postal retirees. The Postal Service is the ONLY organization, public-private-or government, required to make such a payment.53 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Barry K Rogers

Their vote can be influenced by fear of being challenged when they run for re-election.17 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Maureen Bureson

Congressional AmendmentCongress has become non-functional and is comprised of too many lobby-supported professional politicians. The time has come to take back our government, limit their terms in office, and elect those who reflect the will of the people.16 of 100 SignaturesCreated by S. D. Thompson

Ask Congress to Tighten their belts too! While congressmen have continuously asked the American people to sacrifice and tighten their belts during this economic crises, while they are cutting funds for education, welfare and social programs in order to reduce the deficit, while they claim that it is OK for Americans to get a cut in their wages they have not done the same thing they are preaching to us. We, the people, are their employers. Being a congressman or woman is supposed to be a service to the nation, an honor not a lucrative career with benefits for life, with perks such as not paying for gas while we have to continue paying outrageous prices at the pump. If we sacrifice, so should they. Request that they show their concern, their patriotism by reducing their salaries by 40%, to get private insurance like we do and pay their share and, no more life-long pensions… if 401K is so great, let them get a 401K plan and remove the pension plan from their benefit.228 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Marilena Noy
