As a representative republic we have a very low turn out of registered voters. Even in hotly contested presidential elections, it is only about 60%. By making election day a national holiday it will increase the situational awareness of the importance of elections and make access to the polls easier for many Americans.

The actions taken by Congress must be felt by Congress. Why should they be any different than us?

An e mail has been circulating for the past weeks, and suddenly it dawned on me that it was being read by lots of Americans who all agreed on its premises, but it needed publicity in order to reach the ears of our legislators. Congress should have to live by the same rules as all citizens.

Our Nations veterans are suffering and losing everything due to the illegal actions of the Department of Veterans Affairs with the claims process. Should they suffer all because they served for our Freedoms ? Washington feds the American public lies about how much is being done when if fact veterans are becoming homeless and committing suicide at alarming numbers.

Government reform will not happen on its own. You cannot expect those that are riding the gravy train to want to get off. It is time for our current representation in our government to effect real change for the people of our nation. They can either get on board with THE PEOPLE or get out.

End all corporate donations to candidates. leave donations to the general public. If not possible, leave corporations with a 100 dollar limit on donations max. No Legislation introduced to congress coming from private organizations like ALEC or CPAC or any other organization. NO corporate personhood. Citizens United was the US Supreme Court's ruling that says corporations have the same rights as people. This means corporations can contribute as much money as they wish to elected officials and causes. This means that corporations have more power than people. This ruling is a direct threat to the future of our democracy.
