The tragedies of mass shootings must be confronted while respecting the Second Amendment.

We are a group of students in a ninth grade history class, and we are concerned for our country. In order to secure our schools from shootings, we need gun control. We need to get people involved in spreading the word and create awareness all around. Not only does everybody need to work together to pass this law, but we also need to come to an agreement that using guns to harm others is extremely wrong and needs to be stopped. In order to do this, we need to enact stronger gun control laws across the nation. Overall we hope to raise awareness across America and hopefully get enough people involved that some kind of action is taken.

The NRA has used the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) to push its extreme agenda with legislators dating back to at least 1988. For more than two decades ALEC made the NRA's lobbying agenda a national priority, with legislators voting as equals with the NRA on "model" bills behind closed doors. In the wake of the Trayvon Martin tragedy and the spotlight on the ALEC-NRA "Stand Your Ground" law in 2012, ALEC sought to distance itself from the NRA. However, ALEC has yet to do anything to repeal or rollback any of the dangerous gun legislation that they helped push into law on behalf of the NRA, like the laws pre-empting cities from adopting common sense gun laws to provide greater protections for children and adults. Because Cobb students deserve a right to stand up for what they believe in and for the students that witnessed the school shooting in Parkland, Florida!

Anyone who understands that any 'carry' law (carrying a concealed firearm) is only likely to have innocent people shot needs to step up and tell our legislature that doing so without a permit is only begging for a disaster.

The NRA is not vested in defending our rights. They are vested in the greed of guns. Countless innocent people die daily from gun violence. Tragically, we can no longer go to the movies, school, the mall, or music festivals without the fear that a mass shooter is going to kill or maim us. We are no longer free, thanks to the NRA. Google should not accept money from and support such a deplorable organization. We cannot rest until our children are protected and can go to school without worrying about being the next mass shooting victim.

This type of weapon is not protected by the 2nd Amendment, and not needed outside of the Military.

AR-15s and AK-47s are machine guns, or assault rifles, whose sole purpose is to kill as many people in as short a time as possible. These weapons of war have no place in our communities. As we've seen time and time again, way too many times, access to these assault weapons wreak havoc in our society and innocent children and adults are killed in the places that should be the most safe and protected, such as schools. The 2nd amendment was written in 1791, a time when machine guns had not been invented yet and America was occupied by British armies. How many more children will have to die to protect an amendment that is irrelevant and outdated to today's technology? What is more important: unnecessary access to assault rifles or our country's children? If no change is made, no change will happen. Sign to ban assault weapons in California.

I have lost two family members to handguns, and I am sick of reading about shootings every day in the paper. Whose side should a food market be on: life-affirming or promoting death?

We need to thank and support those who take action to stop gun violence. Dick's Sporting Goods is one of the first to do so, and that takes courage.

I am a Doctor of Chiropractic and as a Health professional I cannot justify anyone having access to Assault Weapons and Large Capacity Magazines. I am a Father and Grandfather; yes I am deeply affected by any mass shootings and especially by the senseless killings of children. I am calling on all Health Professionals and citizens to join me in this effort. It might take years, but it is a matter of time and times are of a changing.
