• Persuade Baucus to Support Firearms Background Checks
Despite polls showing that 79% of Montanans support this bill, Max Baucus voted against it in the Senate this spring. His excuse, as in former years, is to claim that he is voting to protect Montana's traditional outdoors lifestyle-However the majority of Montana Citizens believe that he is merely caving in to the demands of the radicalized National Rifle Association and the gun industry's Shooting Sports Foundation.

  • Tell Nevada Gov. Sandoval “Don't veto universal background checks.”
The Nevada legislature, in the face of inaction from Washington and at the urging a huge majority of Nevada voters, has passed a law that would require universal background checks for all gun sales in Nevada. Governor Sandoval has threatened to veto the bill, despite the widespread bi-partisan support for universal background checks from voters and even within the NRA’s membership. Nevada's lax gun laws are responsible for thousands of illegal guns flooding the streets in neighboring California. Vetoing this legislation would be a tragedy for all Nevadans, putting them at significantly greater risk of suffering gun violence.

  • Restore liability to gun makers and repeal the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLACA)....
Did you know that citizens are legally prevented from bringing liability lawsuits against gun makers? If you use any other product, from an automobile to a baby stroller, you can sue those manufacturers for death or injury sustained while using their products. But not deadly guns.

  • Congress Should Pass Stronger Gun Laws.
5-year-old Kentuckyboy fatally shot 2-year-old sister. According to the Kentuchky State Police Trooper Billy Gregory, young children in the area are often introduced to guns at an early age. The boy also got the gun for his birthday. It can cause unexpected or intentional deaths. Guns should be controled by strict laws.

We have seen too many innocent people killed or murdered by Guns; children, students, and general public being killed by Guns. The time has come to ask our elected officials in Congress and the President to amend the US Constitution and abolish the second amendment.

Gun Control improvements: Urgent that you keep pressure for reform on despite setback. We are elders and our common wisdom sees this plain as day: ban assault weapons, magazines over 10 bullets and institute background checks.

  • common sense for a common cause
There are so many issues affecting this country but two stand out... a) the gun control issue..we can have common sense about the First Amendment (no yelling fire in a movie theatre)-Freedom of Speech---but no compromise about the 2nd? b) the amount of money, supplied by special interests, to both sides of the political arena, make us a highly corrupt system. We talk about being a Democracy but, in fact, we are more concerned with capital than with freedom

  • Gun Control
To resolve the gun problem, my answer is to repeal the 2nd amendment. It is not being enforced as was it's intention -- "militia". Also it was written 200 years ago when a rifle fired ONE bullet and took several minutes to reload. I believe guns only belong in the hands of law enforcement and the military. As far as hunting, I don't see how killing a helpless deer is a sport!
