Students for Solutions on Gun SafetyIn 2010, unintentional firearm injuries caused the deaths of 606 people. In fact, almost 3,800 people in the U.S died from unintentional shootings from 2005 to 2010, and 1,300 of these victims were under the age of 25. Furthermore, people of all ages are significantly more likely to perish from unintentional firearm injuries when they live in states with more guns relative to states with fewer guns. On average, states with the highest gun levels had nine times the rate of unintentional firearm related deaths compared to the states with the lowest gun levels. A federal government study of unintentional shootings even found that 8% of such shooting deaths resulted from shots fired by children under the age of six. Additionally, the U.S. General Accounting Office has estimated that 31% of unintentional deaths caused by firearms might be prevented by the addition of two devices: a child-proof safety lock (8%) and a loading indicator (23%). Students for Solutions on Gun Safety is a student run advocacy group which aims to put pressure on gun companies in order to incorporate gun safety technology, such as radio frequency identification, child-proof safety locks, and loading indicators, as part of their business strategies, as well as investing in a safer gun technology. We will be utilizing a moderate approach in trying to get gun manufacturers directly involved in the Gun control debate, as well as take part in promoting the future of gun safety in their respectable products. By doing this, we will still be indirectly protecting citizens’ Second Amendment rights. We believe that by installing new technology into firearms, we as a nation can avoid hundreds of deaths a year.76 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Ryan Jay Sabado Cruz

RI Gun LawsRhode Island is ranked 8th in the country in regards to it's strict gun laws. From a NRA-ILA study states the fact that 99.8% of legal gun owners never use a gun to commit a crime! So why punish law abiding citizens for the actions of a small minority? That's exactly what these "feel good" bills will do. They would not prevent crime, deter crime, or prevent a tragedy like Newtown!11 of 100 SignaturesCreated by J.A.B.

Stop Mass Killings in AmericaI believe the government needs to change the current gun laws we have to be stricter. I do not believe all the mass killings are worth the rights. If we have a chance to save lives we should go for it.12 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Devon Cable

Take Gabby Giffords' Gun Violence Prevention PledgeWhen my friend and staffer, Gabe Zimmerman, saw me shot in the head and laying on the ground, he ran towards me. Towards the gunfire. And then the gunman shot him, and then Gabe died. That is courage. And it's a quality that was sorely lacking on the floor of the Senate last week when forty-five senators stood with the gun lobby to vote against expanding background checks -- to vote against saving lives. If you're still angry about the Senate's filibuster of expanded background checks, you are not alone. But it's up to us to do something about it, because if we don't act, no one will. That's why I'm asking you to join me in supporting candidates who back commonsense legislation to reduce gun violence and protect gun rights, and withholding your support from those who don't. Will you add your voice to mine and make the pledge to become a gun violence voter in 2014?5 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Gabby Giffords

Congress: Listen to voters, not NRAVoters are not represented by their elected officials as long as the NRA buys their votes. The American people should be able to raise money to outbid the lobbyists, since just voting is not enough to influence their elected officials.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Mary Kosmitis

Sen. Max Baucus: Donate to Victims of Gun ViolenceThe country is outraged that the reaction of our senate to the tragedy at Sandy Hook was to DO NOTHING. Senator Baucus voted against expanding background checks. He owes the victims of gun violence.139 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Nancy de Pastino, Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, Montana Chapter

Arms makers bought an unregulated market last weekLast week's failure to enact meaningful gun measures exposed a basic problem with American democracy today - the legal right of arms manufacturers to spend unlimited amounts of money to influence elections.14 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Sam
