Lyme Disease Victims Deserve Our AttentionTwo children of a close friend of mine have been suffering from the devastatingly painful and crippling affects of Chronic Lyme disease for more than 13 years primarily due a succession of medical doctor misdiagnosis's for over 5 years. More needs to be done to educate not only doctors but the public to consider Lyme as a cause of symptoms such as unexplained muscle and/or joint pain, headache, stiff neck, fever, chills and swollen lymph nodes. If left untreated or under treated Lyme disease can and often does become a chronic disease that leaves its victims mere shells of their former selves and all the while experiencing random and intense bouts of pain, nausea, dizziness and fatigue.15 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Jay

Keep ObamacareI, and many others, have pre-existing conditions that will cause insurance companies to find us not eligible for insurance or charge a really high premium for healthcare. It's time for the people to speak instead of insurance lobbyists.312 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Diana McDaniel

Sen. Kirk: Don't Defund ObamacareInstead of working to expand the middle class, House Republicans passed a temporary budget that would defund Obamacare and maintain deep cuts to education, job training, and other vital services. Soon, the Senate will vote whether to pass the House budget as it is or modify it so that Obamacare is funded. That's why we need Senator Mark Kirk to stand with the people of Illinois, not extremists like Sen. Ted Cruz who would risk our nation's fiscal security to defund Obamacare and gain political leverage.4,920 of 5,000 SignaturesCreated by Ryan Canney

Rescind Health Care for Congress, Congressional staffers and all legislative staffers.Health care costs are spiraling out of control. The legislative branch is in charge of finding a solution and is insulated from the effects by having the best health care insurance paid for by US taxpayers. It is time to level the playing field.21 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Rick Fortner

Congress: Help Victims of Mass Shootings/Terrorism By Amending the Terms of Your Health Plan to A...What if you lost your legs in the Boston bombings only to discover you can either accept charitable contributions and lose your health insurance or keep your health insurance but know it still won't cover all your medical needs? ThinkProgress brings us the story of brothers caught in our modern "health care system" Catch 22. "That [accepting their charity checks] wouldn’t be an issue if they could access health care through an employer, or if the funds were enough to cover all of their expected medical costs. But the Norden brothers’ recovery process has been slow, and they’re not sure when they will be able to work again. They also worry that the high cost of prosthetics will quickly eat up the $1.2 million sum, leaving them with nothing." Why should being at the wrong place to view the end of the Boston Marathon require anyone to make such choices?http://thinkprogress.org/health/2013/09/16/2625731/boston-bombing-victims-cash-checks/. Additionally, Mother Jones tells us about what mass shooting victims face. "Mass shootings can be a devastating financial blow to victims and their families, especially if they don't have health insurance. Dr. Adil Haider, the codirector of the Center for Surgery Trials and Outcomes Research at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, tells Mother Jones that "if a person has insurance—it will mostly likely cover everything apart from the deductible." But, he adds, "unfortunately, most of the patients we see do not have insurance." If a victim is paralyzed by a gunshot wound, costs could easily surpass $1 million—although a patient could be eligible for Medicaid or disability at that point...In Virginia Tech and Columbine, the most commonly awarded amount was $11,500 and $10,000, respectively, and payment amounts are often distributed based on number of nights spent in the hospital (after Aurora, victims who spent fewer than seven days in the hospital received $35,000)." http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2013/04/where-does-money-donated-victims-mass-shootings-go But, we can get these victims access to quality care if Congress will negotiate so these individuals can be added as dependents to the Congressional plan. As dependents of the government plan, these individuals would be able to reap the benefits currently available to them while also being able to access funds donated to their recovery without fear of losing their subsidized insurance. Add your name to tell Congress to get to work taking care of our survivors! If we can't stop the killing and maiming, we can at least step up and get people the coverage they need and the care they deserve.321 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Linda Stettler

Expand Medicaid this Fall!By failing to expand Medicaid, the Republican majority turned their backs on 70,000 uninsured Montanans. They turned away $1.5 billion in federal funds and more than 12,000 jobs across Montana. They refused to throw a much-needed lifeline to the rural and critical access hospitals and clinics that struggle to provide care to the uninsured. They ignored the voices of thousands of Montanans who spoke up in support of Medicaid expansion. Now is the time for special session to expand Medicaid.1,824 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Christine Kaufmann

Make Marijuana legal in ohioI am starting this petition because there are people here in ohio who need and would love the use of medical marijuana. We are wasting our time arresting and putting people in jail for this. When there is murderers and rapist out there. It would bring money to out state because just like California they have to pay a certain about for a medical marijuana card. It would help bring money in for our streets, schools, Rehabs, and Ohio is terrible for hard drugs. Once we get medical marijuana legal, It will take it off the streets!51 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Brandi Bear
