• I support Obamacare
Some of the benefits of the Affordable Care Act • 21.3 million more Americans will get healthcare coverage. • You can’t be denied coverage for preexisting conditions such as asthma, diabetes, high blood pressure or even cancer. And if you or a family member get sick or injured, insurance companies can’t cut off your coverage or cancel your plan. • Your kids are covered. If you have children, they can stay on your family health insurance plan until they turn 26. • No more dollar limits on your care. You can get the care you need, without having to worry about huge, unexpected medical bills. • Your coverage is protected. An unintentional mistake or minor omission on an application can no longer give your insurance company an excuse to cancel your coverage. More preventive care is covered • Medicare now covers a yearly wellness visit and preventive care at no cost to you. This includes cancer, cholesterol and diabetes screenings, immunizations, diet counseling and more. • Lower prescription drug costs for Medicare, and the “donut hole” will disappear entirely in 2020 • Every state will have a Health Insurance Marketplace where people looking for coverage can go online to shop for health insurance. • For the first time, there’s help available to pay for health coverage. In fact, many people who buy their plan on the marketplace can get help covering the costs. Low-cost or free plans are also available depending on your income. • Small businesses can get tax credits, there are cooperative possibilities to lower costs and many other benefits for the small business owner. • Obamacare requires insurance companies to provide preventive care as part of your coverage including: High blood pressure screening, Diabetes screening, Flu shots, Colorectal cancer screening, Tobacco cessation counseling, Depression screening,HIV screening for those at risk for the disease • Services for Women, including: Mammograms, Cervical cancer screening, Osteoporosis screening, Gestational diabetes screening, Well-woman visits • Services for Children: Immunizations, including flu shots, Autism screening, Behavioral assessments, Development screening, Obesity screening and counseling • Services for Men: Cholesterol screening, Prostate exams

  • Warren County Freeholders: Please Keep Warren Haven Public.
My mother, aunt and several friends are, or have been, residents at Warren Haven. Warren Haven is an excellent, compassionate, long term, sub-acute health care facility. It is currently in danger of being privatized and the Warren Haven Family Council is petitioning the Freeholder board to keep the facility public and non-profit.

  • Governor Christie refuses to uphold the law related to death of a patient.
My sister was given a lethal combination of medication by doctors at Morristown Memorial Hospital that caused her death. I filed a complaint with Gov Christie's Office. He has taken no action but to continue the cover up. He refuses to meet with my family and I.

  • Say NO to GMO
Start supporting Organic/local farmers. Stop buying GMO and GE foods. Start eating food the way that we are meant to eat food...Organically. We were given ORGANIC food from the very start of time, and to make food in a LAB is not the way it is supposed to be. The rise of cancer and disease, definitely has a lot to do with eating FAKE food. Doesn't everybody see what's going on here? Eat Organic and support your local Organic Farmers.

  • Tell Eric Cantor and the GOP: No Cuts to Social Security & Medicare!
Republican House Majority Leader Eric Cantor said this week that Republicans might be willing to repeal the sequester - but only in exchange for cuts to Social Security and Medicare. The sequester is bad policy and I've voted to end it. But cutting Social Security and Medicare is not the answer. Social Security and Medicare embody our nation’s promise to our seniors, and we must not abandon our obligation to care for our retirees and the millions who depend on these vital safety net programs. I hope you'll join me in telling Eric Cantor and House Republicans that cuts to Social Security and Medicare are unacceptable.

  • Cancer Drug Shortage
My wife and others are having to wait for treatment drugs because of delays in manufacturing. This is wrong, people should know that drugs are available to help in their fight against cancer.

  • Sec. Sebelius: Don't let NM cutoff access to our behavioral health care
In June, New Mexico's Human Services Department abruptly cancelled Medicaid payments to the state's 15 largest non-profit behavioral health providers, leaving more than 30,000 PTSD, suicidal and behaviorally disabled patients without guaranteed access to their regular doctors and providers. The state claimed an internal secret audit found irregularities and opted to end provider contracts before their claims are even investigated. Legislators have asked US HHS Secretary Sebelius to intervene by continuing Medicaid payments for patients needing care until the state's unsupported allegations are investigated and the full story is told.

  • Equality for Medicaid Eligibility
Are you single or widowed? If you are, did you know that your assets can be no more than $ 2,000 in order to be considered for medicaid assistance? But if you are married your assets can total $ 90,000 and you can have one home and one car. This policy is clearly discriminatory for many citizens.

  • Governor Jerry Brown: Verify Our Hours
It takes Marriage and Family Therapist interns like me years to complete our licensing requirements, including our 3000 supervised clinical hours. After we’ve met these requirements, the Board of Behavioral Sciences currently takes 7+ months to verify our hours, simply because they are understaffed. Hiring just one more employee at the BBS would make an enormous difference in the lives of interns who are forced to wait almost a whole year despite being basically license-ready.

  • Outlaw the barbaric practice of "metzitzah b'peh"
This may be 'tradition', but this ancient, barbaric, and pedophelic practice besides being immoral is often detrimental to the health of the child. It is unnecessary and inhumane and needs to be discontinued and outlawed immediately. Not one more child harmed!
