Urge SF Mayor to fully fund Deportation DefenseIn detention, immigrants are often subjected to harsh conditions of confinement and denied access to phone calls, family contact. They are not provided legal counsel if they cannot afford it. They might not know they have legal pathways to stay in the country (such as seeking asylum), and often waive their rights without understanding what is happening. Immigration law is incredibly complex. Immigrants with legal counsel are 5-7 times more likely to be able to legally remain with their families. Every person deserves legal representation when the stakes are so high. Immigrants in detention include people who have been in the US for years as hard working members of the economy, as well as asylum seekers and other vulnerable groups including children, pregnant women, and individuals who are seriously ill.183 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Rodrigo Torres

Governor Hogan: Do What's Right for ImmigrantsI have colleagues and friends who are being traumatized by the current administration's actions re. immigrants. In my view this is NOT America! Exactly what is America to look like if Trump gets his way and "America is brought back to its greatness?"187 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Nancy Goldsmith

Mass deportation is BAD for AmericaOur community is 85% Hispanic. We have moved from 4th poorest city to 51st because of growth and investment here. Now law abiding and tax paying people are living in fear of deportation for themselves or a family member. 20,000 Dreamers attend college here and are feeling threatened. This is unnecessary!36 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Terri Flickinger

Petition to Reaffirm the Town of Somers To Be a Welcoming and Inclusive TownAs an immigrant and a naturalized citizen I am concerned that we need to protect those families live in our Town, contribute to our town, conduct themselves in a lawful way, and have become part of the fabric of Somers, but do not have the status of resident or citizen. Additionally, I want to preempt the intolerance that is increasingly spreading throughout our nation as a result of the extreme politics we are all subject too. The petition is asking out Town leaders to take a moral stand against these actions while obeying the law of the land.125 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Michael Blum

Exclusion of Hispanic Caucus from ICE Deportation BriefingsOn Feb 16, 2017, House Speaker Paul Ryan, (R-WI) and Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte, (R-VA) requested that Rep. Luis V. Gutierrez (D-IL) leave a briefing that was being held with ICE, regarding deportations, and the plans that the Trump Administration is working on in regards to the DREAMers. They then prohibited all members of the Hispanic Caucus from attending meetings with ice as well-this shows a clear, racially motivated bias, and is simply unacceptable. Speaker Ryan and Chairman Goodlatte need to receive censure, at the very least, with possible further punishment, if deemed warranted. Furthermore, we, the American people, demand that any persons having Congressional clearance to attend ICE deportation briefings, including but not limited to, members of the Hispanic Caucus, be allowed to do so IMMEDIATELY.191 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Josephine A Frame

Tell Governor Susana Martinez To Keep the New Mexico National Guard Out of Donald Trump’s Deporta...According to the Associated Press, the Trump administration is considering a plan mobilize as many as 100,000 National Guard troops to round up millions of undocumented immigrants in states along the southern border. This includes states like California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas; as well as states adjacent to border states, like Oregon, Nevada, Arkansas, Colorado, Oklahoma, Utah, and Louisiana. Governors have the final approval on National Guard deployments. This means Donald Trump’s plan won’t work without the support of Governors. So if we want to stop the systematic removal of millions of aspiring Americans from the United States by the National Guard, we need to make sure Governors in the targeted states hear from their constituents. Please join with me and demand that Governor Susana Martinez does not authorize the New Mexico National Guard from joining Donald Trump’s Deportation Force.4,486 of 5,000 SignaturesCreated by Alden Bruce

It's as Easy as 1, 2, 3 -- As Taxpayers We Agree, Tell Congress: Stand TALL, Vote: NO WAY -- NO WALLFACT: WE ALREADY HAVE EFFECTIVE SECURITY MEASURES AT THE BORDER. Pursuant to The Secure Fence Act of 2006, at a cost of over $2.4 Billion, we have already constructed 670 miles of border fencing along our southern border, primarily in populated areas and where most border crossings have occurred. This fencing is supplemented by surveillance cameras, drone aircraft, and increased law enforcement presence. According to a 2016 Pew Report (using U.S. Border Patrol data), BORDER CROSSINGS IN 2015 WERE AT A 50-YEAR LOW, largely due to these enhanced border security measures. FACT: THE WALL WILL NOT NECESSARILY INCREASE BORDER SECURITY. According to one Republican Congressman from Texas, the state with a 1200 mile border with Mexico: "Building a wall is the most expensive and least effective way to secure the border" and ". . . is a third-century solution to a 21st Century problem." This opinion is echoed by a former Commissioner of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection who has said that anyone familiar with the southern border and its terrain (isolated deserts, rugged mountains, canyons, and the ever-changing 1200 mile Rio Grande river boundary) recognizes that a wall along the entire border is probably not going to work, is not feasible to build, and is not the smartest way to spend taxpayers' money. (American Immigration Council Fact Sheet, Jan. 25, 2017) FACT: THE WALL WILL NOT STOP DRUG TRAFFICKING. According to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency's 2016 National Drug Threat Assessment Summary, the majority of illegal drugs are smuggled into the U.S. across the southern border via vehicles through under-staffed U.S. Ports of Entry and illicit tunnels (225 discovered since 1990). Both problems will continue to exist even if the Wall is built. FACTS: U.S. TAXPAYERS WILL PAY FOR THE WALL, NOT MEXICO. Despite Trump's continuing claim that Mexico will pay, he has no plan to achieve this. There's talk of a plan for the U.S. taxpayers to fund the wall, which will be reimbursed by the imposition of a 20% border tax on all Mexican imports. This is no solution!! A border tax would actually lead to a 20% TAX INCREASE on U.S. consumers; if levied, we would PAY TWICE for the Wall! We'd pay for the Wall a first time through appropriations and then a second time through the increased cost of consumer goods! Moreover, such a stiff tariff would likely lead to a U.S.-Mexico trade war that could destabilize both countries' economies. PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION. TELL CONGRESS TO VOTE "NO" TO TRUMP'S WALL!303 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Don Jiron
