• Brown Family-Immigration
Mr. Dave Brown Sr. is being held without cause by the LaSalle Detention Center in Jena, Louisiana. The Deportation officers Mr. Perkins, Mr.Hartnet, Brian Firmin, and Ms. Lily have been plotting and doing everything with all their might to get Mr. Brown to sign himself over to be deported back home to England. Mr. Brown's mother just passed away this pass thursday November 17 at 12:15 a.m. A call was placed to the detention center early that morning but Mr.Brown was not notified until late that evening. Mr. Brown's family, Dr's of Mrs Elvina Brown (mother) as well as his Pastor, Bishop J.C White put in a request for Mr.Brown to be granted visitation before his mother passed away and then after so that he could attend his mother's funeral. After a few days we were notifified that our request was denied. We couldn't quite wrap our heads around the thought that anyone birthed by a woman themselves could be so heartless and cruel and not grant Mr.Brown a visit to see his mother meanwhile she was ill and now deceased. Shame on "immigration"!!!!!!!!! You have people within your system abusing their power and working against what we know we have a right to. We the family are asking for help to boycott and expose The Department of Deportation and LaSalle Detention Center and DEMAND that Mr.Dave Brown be released in time to attend his mother's funeral!!!!

  • Keep Alejandro Lopez together with his family
Alejandro's nightmare began in January of 2012. While looking for an address for his construction job, he was pulled over, after a neighbor called the police to report a suspicious van. After the officer determined that Alejandro was innocent of any wrong doing and telling him how to get to the house he was looking for, the officer arrested him for not having a driver's license. Alejandro spent 4 days in jail. Even though all charges have been cleared, he is now facing deportation. Since arriving in Charlotte in 2005, Alejandro has gotten married and has 2 U.S. born daughters. He is the main provider for his family. This case is unjust and Alejandro deserves to stay with his family. He should never have been arrested to begin with.

  • Why is Speaker Boehner Blocking 11 Million Dreams?
For weeks, the government shutdown needlessly crippled Congress and left the country stuck in partisan gridlock. And during the 14 days of the shutdown, another 15,400 aspiring Americans were deported because of Speaker Boehner's inaction. The status quo is killing our communities and we need Speaker Boehner to act. In fact, every day that Republican leaders like John Boehner delay a vote on immigration reform, over 1,100 family, friends, and neighbors face deportation. Despite the Government shutdown, Latino and Democratic leaders introduced a good immigration bill called H.R. 15 and that bill already has the support of over 180 members of Congress. Now the only thing holding us back is Speaker Boehner refusing to allow vote in the House of Representatives. But as we saw the few weeks, when push comes to shove, Republicans can be forced into action. Now we simply need Speaker Boehner to bring immigration reform up for a vote!

  • "Shut Down" Funding For Operation Streamline in Arizona
Operation Streamline is a controversial DHS immigration enforcement policy, heavily lobbied for by Corrections Corporation of America and other private, for profit prison corporations, that diverts crucial law enforcement resources away from fighting violent crime along the border, fails to effectively reduce undocumented immigration, and in many cases violates the U.S. Constitution. Under normal circumstances, non criminal migrants caught illegally crossing the U.S. border are immediately deported and face a five year ban from reentering the country, with criminal penalties occurring if they are caught crossing a second time. However, under Operation Streamline, such detainees face mandatory criminal prosecution, with penalties ranging from a few days to several months in private, for profit, corporate run prisons, at taxpayer expense. In Arizona, those convicted are housed at Florence Correctional Center, a Corrections Corporation of America facility. CCA has heavily lobbied for enforcement of Operation Streamline and similar manadatory imprisonment immigration laws, and has a particularly dubius reputation in our state, helping to write the controversial "Show Me Your Papers" law SB1070 and contributing millions to the campaign coffers of Governer Jan Brewer and other Arizona lawmakers. CCA has already earned billions of dollars in taxpayer funds as a result of this progam and stands to reap billions more. Meanwhile, the numbers show that Operation Streamline DOES NOT effectively reduce undocumented immigration, and the "fast tracking" of criminal convictions in these cases may very often violate the Constitutional due process rights of detainees. The program has led to skyrocketing federal immigration caseloads in the Arizona and forces border patrol agents to spend significant time and resources apprehending non-violent migrants when they should be keeping our border safe from violent criminals and drug trafficking. At a time when the government is in shut down mode, and funds for essential services are being frozen or cut, we cannot afford to spend taxpayer dollars on a program that criminalizes not violent offenders, makes our borders LESS safe and increases the costs of illegal immigration. This is why I created a petition to Janet Napolitano, Department of Homeland Security Secretary, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and 3 others titled ""Shut Down" Funding For Operation Streamline in Arizona". Tell DHS Secretary Jan Brewer and the U.S. Department of Justice to shut down Operation Streamline and focus on policies that benefit border communities instead of corporate coffers. • Keep Felipe Bravo together with his family
My name is Felipe Bravo and I am from Guatemala. I have lived in the United States for the past 15 years. I am married and have 3 U.S. citizen daughters (Karina 13yr, Jennifer 12yr, Azucena 6yr). I was arrested for not having a driver's license. Although all charges have been dropped and I do not have any criminal record, I am still facing possible deportation. I now have to leave my family on November 15. I pay my taxes and have strong ties to my community. Since arriving here, I have been an active member in my church, where I am the choir director. As a member of Familias Unidas, I have been working to help other families that are facing the same situation as my own, keep their families together. My dream is to stay here and see my beautiful daughters grow up and realize their dreams. I would like to continue contributing to this country that has given me so many opportunities. With your help, I hope to cancel my deportation, so that I can stay with my family. Thank you for your support and my God bless you.

  • We Were All Immigrants, And Illegal Ones At That
To have the 99% of the country's population let the House know they are not representing the people who elected them. And Republicans, we know you are the worst at this, and the most at fault here. I am so not voting for one Republican in 2014 and 2016.
