Gov. Brewer: Stop attacking immigrant women! Thanks to the Arizona Governor Jan Brewer, abused immigrant women are losing their drivers' licenses. Under her new policy they won't even have the ability to get into a car and escape their abusers. Brewer's order to block immigrants from getting drivers' licenses at first only included DREAMers, the recipients of deferred action under President Obama's 2012 program. But rather than do away with her discriminatory practice after faced with public outcry, Brewer vindictively included all immigrants who have received deferred action. This will now include battered immigrant women in Arizona, who can receive deferred action under the Violence Against Women Act. The state of Arizona has already issued tens of thousands of drivers' licenses to immigrants who qualified for deferred action in the past. But because she doesn't want to be seen as "giving in" to Obama or DREAMers, she'd rather take drivers' licenses away from all immigrants, period. Brewer's actions are not only a direct attack on young people, but they are devastating for women in her state. Many undocumented immigrant women already don't report domestic abuse to law enforcement out of fear of deportation. It’s time to put an end to Gov. Brewer’s anti-immigrant campaign. As the signer of the nation's most extreme anti-immigrant law, Brewer has carved out her entire political career at the expense of the most vulnerable of our society. Arizona deserves better!271 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Matt Hildreth

Immigration officials should not break up Rony's familyRony Ramos-Carrasco, father of two United States citizens and a model community leader with no criminal history, is current sitting in detention at a correctional facility in Louisiana. He desperately needs your help to get back home. One of Rony's young children, five-year-old Amy, has had a complicated medical history and needs her father's presence here in the US to help with her medical expenses. But to make matters worse, Rony's partner Yohana recently had emergency surgery and has been unable to care for their children on her own. Yohana was able to get some help from a relative to complete tasks as simple as carrying her one-year-old son Jake, but her relative could only stay with her for so long. Yohana needs your help bringing Rony back home where he belongs. Please sign this petition to get Rony out of detention -- he is counting on you. According to policies set by President Obama, there are multiple reasons Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) should release Rony from detention – reasons the local ICE office has ignored. Not only is he the father of two United States citizens, but he's also the “primary caretaker of a person with a mental or physical disability.” Five-year-old Amy's medical history has been confirmed in a letter by her pediatrician, and now she's even been diagnosed with depression as a direct result of her father's detention. But ICE has ignored these factors before, having deported Rony twice already. But Rony has been determined to not let his family suffer without him. He returned back to the US because little Amy was undergoing surgery and needed her father's support, both financially and emotionally. And as the sole breadwinner, Rony knows his family's entire wellbeing depends on him being in the US to work. When Congress passes immigration reform, Rony may qualify for immigration status and eventually citizenship. This is all the more reason for ICE to step in now and release Rony until Congress can finish its job.358 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Matt Hildreth

Raul should not be separated from his son!Raul is a single father of a 9-year-old U.S. citizen. He -- like all parents -- wants nothing more than to watch Raul Jr. grow and go to school. But little Raul Jr. is counting the hours that he has left with his dad because immigration officials are preparing to deport his dad tomorrow, September 20th. With no other family in the US, this deportation will tear Raul and Raul Jr.'s small but loving family apart. No child deserves to be tortured with the idea that his dad will never be back home. Raul has no criminal record and has been a valued member of the Mesa community in Arizona for over 15 years. In fact, he was on his way to work on a bus when he was detained. Fortunately there is an easy temporary fix for Raul and his family. Immigration officials can grant Raul "prosecutorial discretion" and defer his case. Please join us in demanding that the immigration official overseeing Raul's case stop his deportation. We need to keep families together!3,535 of 4,000 SignaturesCreated by Matt Hildreth

Help a Swedish mother return to her childrenMy cousin, a Swedish national, is stranded in Germany! The US of A will not let her back into the country to be with her husband ( A United States Naval Vet) and children after she went to Sweden to get medical treatment! She did not burden the American system, she did not break any laws, she is not a terrorist, yet my country is treating her as if she were an outlaw. If you are married to an American citizen, you should have every right to be be with that person, irregardless of your VISA status. Every American, with the exception of native Indians, was once an immigrant. I understand that there have to be rules, but there also has to be an exception to every rule. Shame on us for depriving a 9 year old of his mother for the next three years. Every country in Europe recognizes marriage and would not separate a mother from her son, a wife from her husband. And to top it off, the American consulate tells her, they are not here to answer questions. If anyone has any idea about what one should do in a situation like this, please post your comment. I love my cousin dearly, she is always welcome to stay with me in Germany, but I would be so much happier if I knew she was at home in the US with her family, where she belongs. Today, I am not proud to be an American233 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Margi

Stop the Deportation of Marlon and JoseSince Hurricane Katrina, migrant day laborers in New Orleans have been doing jobs to rebuild the city. But Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials are conducting raids and surveillance on these workers instead of respecting workers' Constitutional rights to be free from racial discrimination, seek work on public streets, and to peaceably assemble. Now, two workers—Marlon and Jose—are facing imminent deportation for defending their right to organize! But it's not too late to stop their deportation. Marlon was targeted by plain-clothed ICE agents while looking for work. Jose was targeted by an undercover agent posed as a contractor looking for workers. Neither men have criminal backgrounds and both operations were in violation of ICE’s own polices on enforcement priorities. Marlon and Jose are going up against ICE in Immigration Court and need your support. If ICE knows Marlon and Jose have public support on their side, they'll be more likely to close the case. Please join us in telling ICE to stop the deportation of Marlon and Jose.433 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Matt Hildreth

We need immigration policy reform that treats women and children fairly!Without immigration reform that treats children, women and families fairly, many of the estimated 5.5 million children who are in families with mixed immigration status live in fear of a parent being taken away from them at any moment.62 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner

Tell Rep. Joe Barton: We need a vote on CitizenshipThe August recess is coming to a close and the House of Representatives have yet to move a immigration reform bill that includes a pathway to citizenship. We need Rep. Barton to support a pathway to citizenship for the 11 million immigrants currently living in the United State without papers. Most of these immigrants have lived in this country for more than a decade and have come to America to seek a better life for their families. They are Americans-in-waiting who are ready to fulfill the requirements of our citizenship process - to study English, pay taxes, maintain a good record and be of good moral character. Instead of focusing only on the border, we need a new approach that is better for families and makes more economic sense.59 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Alejandro Ortiz

Rep. Sam Johnson: Support immigration reform with a pathway to citizenshipThe August recess is coming to a close and the House of Representatives have yet to move a immigration reform bill that includes a pathway to citizenship. It's time to stand up to the extremists who want to expel 12,000,000 hard working immigrants and fight for a practical immigration solution rooted in the restoration of the rule of law, earned citizenship, united families and fair treatment for all workers. Tell Rep. Johnson: "It's time to fix the broken immigration system. Pass comprehensive immigration reform with a pathway to citizenship this year! Now is the time, this is the year -- we need our leaders to lead. Act now to help fix America's broken immigration system.31 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Alejandro Ortiz
