• Deported Civil Rights Leaders have the Right to Return to Appeal Their Case
At the same time that the President has said that he would like to make immigration practices more humane, the immigration enforcement agency is using deportation as a weapon against families working toward the same goal. Jaime Valdez and Ardani Rosales were both illegally deported without notice and in retaliation for their part in bringing attention to the abusive conditions in the detention centers where they were held. On Tuesday April 1st, both men will present themselves with their legal files at the Nogales port of entry to request permission to reunite with their loved ones and close their cases using humanitarian parole. Today's civil rights leaders deserve respect not retaliation. Their families belong together, it's unjust intimidation practices that have no place in the United States. • ICE: Use Prosecutorial Discretion to keep ura Sujey Menjivar Lara (A #098-595-939) 3-year-old so...
Aura will separated from her 3-year-old son Edwin. On Friday December 15, 2013, Aura was told by ICE in Baltimore, Maryland to pack her bags and say goodbye to Edwin because she will be leaving the United States of America soon. Aura has and ankle bracelet put on her on December 06, 2013 like some criminal when Aura had no criminal record. I know that the community has the power to stop separating families. You can help keep Aura with her 3-year-old son Edwin. Aura has lived in Marylan since 2004. Aura has worked really hard all of these years to provide for Edwin and to see him go to school. Aura dream is to see Edwine go to college and be an attorney, doctor, or Engineer. Aura can only dream, she is a single undocumented mother trying to make it for her son. In 2012, Aura was detained by Maryland police officers for driving without a license while Aura was working. ICE detained Aura for 4 days before being let go and then put into deportation proceedings. Aura spent 4 days in detention away from Edwin for wanting to change the future of her children. Like many of us Edwin wasn’t born in the United States of America with all of its opportunities. Aura took action and provided an opportunity for a better life for her children. In El Salvador Aura escape poverty, violence, and hopelessness for an opportunity of a better life. I would do the same and I know you would too. Please help keep Aura with her son, Edwin.

  • Tell Rep. Coffman: Sign the immigration discharge petition today!
Rep. Mike Coffman has said he supports immigration reform, but it seems he’s done little to pressure Speaker Boehner to act. We know that if immigration reform with a pathway to citizenship were put up for a vote in the House, it could pass -- but Speaker Boehner refuses to budge. But there's a way to pressure Republicans like Rep. Coffman to act. House Democrats have just started a legislative procedure called a "discharge petition" to force action on immigration reform. If the nearly 30 House Republicans who support reform --- including Rep. Coffman -- join Democrats in signing this discharge petition, we can force Speaker Boehner to bring immigration to a vote, whether he likes it or not. We need Rep. Coffman to start leading and sign the discharge petition. If he really does support immigration reform, Rep. Coffman needs to act now!

  • Tell Your Representative to Sign the Immigration Discharge Petition
We know that if immigration reform were put up for a vote in the House, it could pass -- but Tea Party obstructionists like Steve King are doing all they can to keep that from happening. Nearly 30 Republicans have said they support immigration reform with a pathway to citizenship, but these Republicans have done little to pressure Republican leaders standing in our way. But now we finally have a way to push these Republicans into action. After pressure from immigration activists all across the country, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi initiated a legislative procedure called a "discharge petition" to try and force action on immigration reform. If these 30 Republicans join with House Democrats and sign the discharge petition, we can force John Boehner to bring immigration reform with a pathway to citizenship up for a vote.

  • U.S. Attorney, David J. Hickton: Stop Alfredo's prosecution!
I was born and raised in Ohio. Alfredo came into my life when I needed him most. We eventually married and these were some of the best years for us as a family. About 15 years ago, I received a call from Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) that I’ll never forget. Alfredo was being deported back to Mexico. I was nine months pregnant with our first child when he was deported. I begged him to come back. Alfredo lived in constant fear of getting picked up by ICE and separated from his children. Because of his status, he struggled to find a steady, good paying job, I assumed the role of primary provider. The financial strain placed a heavy burden on all of us and led to our separation -- but we found a way to hold our family together. Alfredo remained a constant and active father in our children’s lives. He was also there for me and the kids. Our lives were turned upside down once again last month. In February, Alfredo was stopped by the police on the way to the mall. Even though Alfredo was only a passenger in the car the Border Patrol was called. He was taken away in handcuffs in front of our 11 year old daughter. Alfredo has no criminal record in the 24 years he has been in the U.S. Apparently for Mr. Hickton, the lack of immigration reform means it's a free-for-all on all the families like mine. I’m pleading with U.S. Attorney David J. Hickton and the Obama Administration to please let my ex-husband return to his family. Let him reunite with us and continue to be the model aspiring citizen he’s always been. Will you please join me in asking the Obama Administration to stop Alfredo's prosecution?
