  • Attention Mike Coffman: Enough Double Dealing on Immigration Reform
Coffman is considered one of the most endangered incumbents in Congress in 2014. Formerly the representative of the district that elected the anti-immigrant extremist Tom Tancredo to Congress, in 2011 Coffman’s district was remade into an economically and culturally diverse battleground that includes most of the city of Aurora. Since then, Coffman has frequently paid lip service to reforming immigration--in marked contrast to his previous statements and actions. Today, it appears that Coffman has been playing immigration reform supporters for fools the whole time.

  • driver's license for illegal aliens in Kentucky.
Well I'm starting this petition because i think illegal imigrants should be able to drive without having to always look over their shoulder all the time. We are all the same in the inside we are just different skin colors, illegal immigrants come to america cause its the land of opportunities and to be safe. I know alot of people wont sign it cause alot of you all are against illegal aliens being here. But im asking you to have a heart and sign it please. You would be helping alot of immigrants. Kentucky keeps claiming about being so broke. Just imagine the tax dollars that they would gain for a move like this, as well as keep people from being separated from their family because of traffic violation.

  • ALL Iowa Immigrants Should Be Able To Apply For A Driver's Permit
Already, 13 states allow ALL immigrants to apply for drivers permits. By bringing the policy to Iowa, we will: - Increase the number of insured drivers on the road - Lower insurance premiums for everyone - Promote effective law enforcement - Increases public safety Over one-third of new rural Iowans are immigrants. But many of these immigrants are prevented from obtaining a state issued ID because of their immigration status. Multiple studies have shown that driver’s license restrictions, like those we have in Iowa, make us all less safe. They force immigrants to avoid contact with law enforcement which means fewer crimes are reported. Please join the growing number of Iowans and support driver's permits for ALL immigrants.

  • Republican Inaction On Immigration Is Hurting My Family!
I know our country's immigration laws are broken. My son-in-law, who has been in this country since he was a teenager, was racially profiled, stopped, and arrested in the small town of Fincastle, VA. In just a matter of weeks, he was dropped in a Mexican border town without ever having appeared in front of a judge and without signing a voluntary removal document. These types of deportations are happening at a rate of 1,100 per day and must be stopped! Over 200 days ago, the Democratic-led Senate passed an immigration bill that would update our broken immigration laws. Yet, Speaker John Boehner and key Republicans in the House -- including my member of Congress, Rep. Bob Goodlatte -- are refusing to allow a vote on it. As the Chair of the House Judiciary Committee, Rep. Goodlatte has the power to move legislation, like the Senate's immigration bill, that could directly help my family and millions of families like mine. Still, Rep. Goodlatte has refused to meet with me (and even my pastor) to talk about it. I need your help getting through to Rep. Goodlatte. Since he's a key Republican working on immigration reform, his decisions will impact all of us!

  • Treat all immigrants like Justin Bieber!
Justin Bieber, Canadian teen pop music and heart-throb, has gotten himself out of some hot water in Florida. At approximately 4am this morning, Justin was pulled over by police in Miami after he was caught drag racing in his yellow Lamborghini. After failing a field sobriety test, he confessed to having been consuming alcohol, smoking marijuana, and had taken some prescription pills. Subsequently, he was additionally charged with driving without a valid drivers license and resisting arrest. After making a brief appearance before a judge, his bail was set to $2,500 and was released before a crowd of adoring fans who waited for him outside of the jail. The Bieber experience as an immigrant who made a string of mistakes starkly contrasts what many other immigrants with different statuses in this country experience, particularly undocumented Latinos. Every day, police departments all over the country work together with ICE to maintain 34,000 beds in different private detention centers filled to capacity every day and night. The vast majority of those who are incarcerated in these centers before being deported are Latino, and many of them are in these centers for far less severe infractions than what Mr. Bieber did. We at Presente.org are profoundly inspired by the Bieber experience, as it shows that the justice system may in fact have a soft spot for people who make mistakes. We are calling on the Department of Homeland Security and all police departments to adopt this trend of treating ALL other undocumented immigrants as if they were Justin Bieber.

  • Don't Deport Bieber!
Justin Bieber has been making headlines lately, but facing deportation shouldn't be one of them. His latest arrests should be dealt with like anyone else, with a day in court, not a threat of detention and deportation. We all deserve equality under the law. All of his fans and everyone else, let's get Bieb's back. Tell the Department of Homeland Security to stop these out-of-control deportations, beginning with Justin Bieber. #dontdeportbieber

  • Stop Siham Jihad's Deportation
Siham has deeply impacted the lives of everyone around her, especially that of her son, Naseem. If she is deported, her friends, community and son will all suffer an immense loss. Naseem will be most deeply affected, as he will be left alone, placed in state care and subjected to the uncertainties of life in foster care.
