Justice For Jesse!I am starting this petition because as bizarre as this case may sound, it happened. There was no justice served in this case. Crawford County took an innocent young man and made him a criminal, they said he was a menace to society. Judge William Seay was very harsh and unjust in his decision to sentence Jesse to 12 years when child molesters and rapist are sentenced 3-7 years in prisons. Why? Where is our justice? Where is our Liberty? This man's life has been destroyed because two people made false statements and were set free of the crime they were arrested for. I am asking that this case be brought to the surface and Jesse be granted a pardon or sentence reduction and be released from prison and removed from parole (refer to MO Revised Statutes chapter 558 Imprisonment Section 558.046, August 28,2013). Jesse has served more than enough time in Missouri Department of Corrections; I want to see Justice for Jesse!!70 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Crystal

Independent Civilian Oversight of the California Highway PatrolThe recent beating of a mentally ill woman by a CHP officer that was caught on video is being investigated by the CHP without any independent review. The CHP is the largest highway patrol police force in the U.S., with nearly 10,000 officers. When the police police themselves without any independent oversight, there is no check on their power and authority. Independent civilian oversight is the check on that power.512 of 600 SignaturesCreated by Judge LaDoris Cordell (Ret.)

Rep Harris: Stop Blocking Marijuana Decriminalization in DCThe Mayor of DC signed into law DC's decriminalization of marijuana bill this past spring. Now, Rep. Andy Harris ( R- MD) pushed a amendment to block DC government from enforcing the legislation. Rep. Harris should mind his own business and stay out of our local affairs.381 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Khalid Pitts

Attorney General Kamala Harris: Reopen Case for Six-Year-Old Rape VictimA 911 call was made to Temecula Police Department. A six year old girl reported in child's language her stepfather raped her. The child was hospitalized for sexual abuse and a sexually transmitted infection at Loma Linda University Hospital San Bernardino California. Riverside County D.A. Paul Zellerbach, filed five felony charges of lewd acts and oral copulation with a minor. Riverside County Superior Court Judge F. Paul Dickerson III, approved a court order to hold the suspect to answer and proceed to trial, immediately afterwards, Riverside D.A. closed this case, set the suspect free without jail time, without prosecution. Justice was denied this six year old rape victim in Riverside California. We need Attorney General Kamala Harris and Riverside County D.A. to reopen and refile this sexual abuse case.131 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Kristi Benet

Juveniles Convicted As Adults of Violent Crimes Should Serve the TimeMy brother, my sister-in-law and my nine year old niece were brutally murdered by their 16 year old son/brother. He used my brother's legally purchased, licensed pistol to commit all three heinous acts. He then called in his crime and waited for the police to arrive and arrest him. As a family, we agreed to a plea after nearly two years of waiting in order to avoid a media circus, to facilitate closure and to promote healing. This meant my nephew pled guilty to three first degree murders and was sentenced to three life sentences, two to run concurrently with the third to run consecutively. He would have been eligible for parole in 30 years, not 15, as this new law mandates.329 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Kristi Venderlic

America has a justice problem. Our country has departed from one of its bedrock principles: that America is a nation founded on second chances at opportunity. The U.S. has 5% of the world's total population, but 25% of the world's prison population is incarcerated within our borders -- the vast majority in prison for nonviolent offenses. That's not justice. I've introduced the REDEEM Act to remove some of the high barriers Americans convicted of nonviolent crimes face when trying to reenter society after serving their time. The bill will help them find a job, support their families, and -- most importantly for their communities -- keep from reoffending. The REDEEM Act provides a federal sealing pathway for nonviolent adult ex-offenders, automatically seals the records of nonviolent juvenile offenders, and lifts the lifetime ban on receiving federal benefits like pell grants. In short, the REDEEM Act introduces rehabilitation to a system focused too much on punishment alone. I'm standing up to say that rehabilitation isn't just better policy -- it's a moral imperative. Will you stand with me? Tell members of Congress: our justice system should rehabilitate, not just incarcerate.8,095 of 9,000 SignaturesCreated by Senator Cory Booker

JUSTICE FOR 70 YEAR OLD WOMANI am at the end of my rope, so to speak. Every month I struggle to make ends meet and pay these steep costs (or go back to jail). I feel that I have paid for my crime, since some violent offenders receive less punishment. 13 years at my age (67 at time of sentencing) is the same as a death sentence. I have been clean and sober for three years now and fully intend to stay that way.274 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Joyce S Adams

Congress: Save Children from Repeat ViolenceMy son was abused by his father's girlfriend. Because she was not a direct relative, and did not abuse him more than once, no injunction could be granted. Protecting our children should be the state's number one concern.53 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Cassandra Edwards

Clemency or Pardon for Leonard PeltierThis is the 39th year Leonard has been imprisoned with the full knowledge that there is no proof of guilt. The government has admitted this fact. The us courts acknowledgement of both FBI and prosecutorial misconduct alone are grounds to release Leonard Peltier NOW.221 of 300 SignaturesCreated by keith rabin
