There is much concern that fake news is effecting election campaigns of all parties. I want our elected officials, both state and federal to make an effort to find a legislative solution that provides an incentive to not publish fake news while at the same time not infringing on the first amendment guarantee of a free press.

On Friday, civil rights hero and longtime congressman John Lewis, who organized the March on Washington as a student and whose skull was broken by police as he crossed the Edmund Pettus Bridge, called Trump's election illegitimate and said he would not attend the inauguration. Predictably, Donald Trump attacked Rep. Lewis. And since then, in the past 24 hours, the number of Congress members who have said they'd join Representative Lewis and skip the inauguration has grown to nearly twenty. Thank you Representatives Blumenauer and Schrader for joining them! "It will be the first one that I miss since I've been in Congress," Lewis said. "You cannot be at home with something that you feel that is wrong, is not right." Rep. Lewis has said that he cannot see Trump as a "legitimate president" because of the now widely understood effort of Russia to influence November's election on behalf of Trump. Every member of Congress has a choice: stand with Rep. Lewis or stand with Trump. Sign the petition—tell your members of Congress to skip the inauguration. Rep. Lewis has shown yet again that when a leader takes a courageous action, others follow. If more members of Congress join Rep. Lewis and skip the inauguration, we can strengthen the power of the opposition. Thank you Representatives Blumenauer and Schrader for standing strong and boycotting Trump's inauguration. Let's join them and show the power of the opposition movement. Democratic lawmakers must boycott Trump's inauguration lest they normalize and legitimize an unhinged demagogue who's an abject threat to our nation.

The Office of Government Ethics is a nonpartisan ethics office that has served presidents for the last 4 decades to help ensure a high level of integrity in the president, cabinet members and all appointees. It should not be punished for doing its job for the American people.

These stores would not sell garbage for people to eat. Why sell garbage to feed people's minds? Since our dollars support the stores that are selling these fake-news papers, we are compelled to ask them to fulfill their social responsibility to our communities and stop selling these scurrilous tabloids.

At 12:01pm, the moment Donald Trump is sworn in as President of the United States, the Commanding General of the D.C. National Guard--Maj. General Errol R. Schwartz, will be relieved of his command. There is no excuse for this action. Presidential appointees are not all required to resign at the moment of transition, especially not ones in the midst of critical duties. This is spiteful, unnecessary, uninformed, and wrong.

So President Obama doesn't get too bored after he leaves office.

Donald Trump says we, the American people, aren't interested in his tax returns. I think most Americans are interested. The potential conflict of interest with other countries alone should be enough to make this disclosure mandatory before taking office. We, the people, have a right to see his tax returns. If he has nothing to hide, prove it to the people of this country and release your tax records.

I am an American citizen extremely concerned by the nature of President-elect Trump's stance on not releasing his tax returns. His decision to not put his business holdings into a blind trust while he is in office is also of grave concern. Release your tax returns now! What are you hiding??

I just watched the press conference and heard the President Elect state that the public does not care about his tax records. I do care, as do many others in the country as evident by repeated requests since the campaign. I am concerned both about the failure to release the tax returns, AND the false claim about how the public feels. I want to let Donald Trump and his Administration know that we are listening and watching and when they mis-speak for us, we WILL call them on it.

I am the son of a WWII correspondent, majored in Journalism in my time in college during the mid-70s. I am a very active participant of a combined 70,000+ members Progressives-Democratic groups online. I can say with certitude that this view and outrage is shared by all - when informed of it.
