• Donald Trump, release official measurements of your hands!
I am a patriotic American who believes in the fundamental right of a US citizen to know the size of the hands of their potential commanders in chief. I believe millions of Americans agree. Are you one of them?

  • Washington Post Readers Deserve Better than Joe Scarborough
Donald Trump considers media personality, Joe Scarborough, a “supporter” and even thanked Scarborough on the air saying, “You guys have been supporters, and I really appreciate it." As the host of MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Joe Scarborough uses one of MSNBC’s most watched programs to support, promote, and even defend Donald Trump’s hateful rhetoric. Just last month, Joe Scarborough admitted to meeting personally with Trump in order to provide him with debate tips. As if that wasn’t enough, Mediaite has reported on how Trump has called Joe Scarborough a “believer” of his campaign and has even asked Scarborough for questions that were not “too hard.” These are just some of the examples that illustrate that Joe Scarborough is not unbiased when it comes to Republican candidate Donald Trump. Donald Trump has become the frontrunner in the Republican Party because friendly “journalists,” like Joe Scarborough, use Trump’s celebrity status to boost their ratings. Instead of asking Trump tough questions about his racist and xenophobic rhetoric, pundits like Joe Scarborough keep Trump happy so he keeps coming back. And while you might expect this “ratings over credibility” mentality on morning Television, the Washington Post recently announced that Joe Scarborough will serve as a regular contributor to their 2016 election commentary and opinion section. This is great for Donald Trump but horrible for anyone who cares about keeping Trump out of the mainstream. It is shameful and irresponsible for The Washington Post to allow Joe Scarborough, a pundit who has set journalistic integrity aside in order to support Donald Trump, to comment on one of our country’s most important elections. The Washington Post should provide its readers with unbiased and thought-provoking coverage of the presidential election, and not give Joe Scarborough yet another platform to defend and justify Trump’s toxic and dangerous rhetoric.

  • NORDSTROM: REMOVE Ivanka Trump Lifestyle Collection products from your shelves
With his steady stream of divisive rhetoric Ivanka Trump has steadfastly stood by her father's side. Ms. Trump proudly tells audiences her father would make a great president. Consequently, though she has consistently said she doesn't want to get involved in politics, she has put herself front and center of her father's campaign. By extension her name sake company becomes a strong supporter of Trump for President. Nordstrom, by selling her product line, is also now a supporter. Unless they remove her products from their stores, we, as consumers also have power. For those of us who find Trump's alienating talk alarming, we should stop shopping at all Nordstrom stores and from their online site unless they remove the Ivanka Trump Lifestyle Product line from all their stores.

  • BRING HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL TO NEVADA
Pennington Student Achievement Center is the ideal filming location for High School Musical 4. It's the start of something new, it's shiny, and it is the most beautiful building to ever grace this state. Stepping inside this glorious building you feel an instant emotional connection--a connection that should be shared with the good people of Disney and the world. Think of the social stairs and the glorious choreography that could unfold on them. THINK OF THE POSSIBILITIES. It is about time that the University of Nevada start breakin' free and be appreciated in all of its glory. And it's about time that we were all featured in the background scenes of a Disney Original Movie. But it all starts with you signing this petition. You just gotta get ya head in the game.

  • open the Baltic St. schoolyard to the public during non-school hours
The petition is to act on getting K497, the School for International Studies and K429, the Brooklyn School of Global Studies, to open their schoolyard to the public during non-school hours, just as other neighborhood schools do. The two public schools are located in the building at 284 Baltic Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201. The neighborhood has been asking the schools to reopen their schoolyard to neighborhood children and families for more than five years - when it was just an asphalt lot. The schoolyard has since been remodeled for the second time and it offers tremendous opportunities for neighborhood residents to gather and play; the new artificial turfed field is unparalleled in the community as are the playground’s climbing apparatus and creative gross motor play opportunities presented by the stick forest and spinning areas. Offering the schoolyard to neighborhood residents outside of school hours is a great opportunity for the schools to give back to community families and businesses. At least five public schools within the surrounding ten blocks open their schoolyards to the public during non-school hours following NYC Parks rules: PS 29, PS 32, PS 38, PS 261 and K519. The NYC Parks department even sponsors the Schoolyards to Playgrounds initiative which is making a concerted effort to improve schoolyards and make them accessible to the public. Ours is a reasonable request grounded in precedent.

  • Not in our name, and not with our money
Responding to a string of tragic shootings in Kalamazoo County since January 1, 2016 that have left several Kalamazoo area residents dead or badly injured, residents and community leaders are drawing attention to the epidemic of gun violence in the United States and taking aim directly at the companies profiting from it. Gun sales tend to increase after mass shooting events, increasing revenue for the gun industry, much of which is used to influence elections and lobby elected officials to prevent passage of common sense gun regulations at the state and national level. We need to take action as individuals by selling off any investments we have in companies that profit from gun violence and calling on others, especially our elected officials, to do the same. Kalamazoo city and county would not be the first local governments or pension funds to divest from the gun industry. New York City, Chicago, the state of Rhode Island, and the California State Teachers Retirement System, valued at nearly $150 billion, have already acted to sell off, and stop purchasing, investments in the gun industry. For more information on divestment from gun manufacturers, see http://unloadyour401k.com/ Certainly individual behaviors and ideas about guns need to change, but we also need to change the incentives so that gun makers cannot profit from gun violence.
