When citizens from around the globe visit Washington, D.C., they ought to see true symbols of American democracy. Monuments that bear the names of real defenders of liberty deserve to be viewed. The name Donald Trump does not belong anywhere near the monuments and memorials that carry the names of Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, Roosevelt, or King.

I am starting this petition because I fear for the future of not only the United States of America but the entire world. To allow Mr. Donald Trump to continue as a nominee for the Republican Party and possibly the President of the United States would be of grave consequence. He has already proven that he incites hatred and physical altercations among his supporters and protestors. It is an embarrassment to the United States. Taking into consideration the total lack of respect for other countries, religions, sexuality and color we simply can not allow this devastation to continue. Let us all unite, whether Democrat, Republican or Independent and remove the toxicity from the campaign. Can we really afford to allow this to continue?

It is deeply troubling the way the DNC has been treating anti-establishment candidates this cycle. They need to stick to their name and values. Be Democratic and foster democracy.

The planning of the Beaucatcher Greenway has been in the works for years but is at risk of being derailed. After years of dedication from citizens including community leaders, family, friends and neighbors of Asheville who have worked with City staff to design a beautiful, environmentally sound greenway, there has been misinformation that could cost the citizens time, money and potentially the loss of this project. DO NOT ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN. Rumor vs. Fact 1. Rumor: 82 trees will be removed at the southern trailhead. FACT: According to the designs, only a dozen trees will be removed. A few are larger trees, but most of the trees are very small, at risk of falling down due to erosion, or already dead. Additionally, there are invasive plants which have overtaken the trees. 2. Rumor: It’s an old growth forest. FACT: No, it’s not. The area has been logged in the past, and the proposed designs could protect the surrounding trees in this important urban forest. 3. Rumor: The Greenway is a new road. FACT: Some of the future trail is already a paved road. And, the current portion of the trail which is dirt is deeply washed out due to poor drainage and a lack of maintenance. The proposed designs could protect that trail and make it accessible to people with disabilities. 4. Rumor: The northern end of the proposed access road for the greenway is the private driveway of a 4 unit condominium. FACT: The City of Asheville has right-of-way, confirmed by City legal staff. 5. Rumor: A petition in opposition of the greenway is a reflection of the desire of the citizens of Asheville. FACT: Many of the people signing the petition are from out of town, out of state, and most have never been to the site. WE WANT THE BEAUCATCHER GREENWAY.

This petition is about placing stricter action on mother's that purposely keep their children away from their father(s), and enforcing the father's rights and relationships that are rightfully deserved to be developed between a father and his child(ren). I am and have been a victim of this form of abuse and it's time that affirmative action is taken on mothers that alienate children and their father's. The mothers receive child support, the father's taxes "while keeping her own." The courts take away a father's driver's license and throw the fathers in jail if behind, but the mother(s) suffer no harsh penalties for destroying a child's relationship with its father. It is time that the cheek stops getting turned away and the law's to be changed and enforced vigorously against mother's that do this to the child(ren). Anger, vindictiveness, and bitterness should not allow for a child to be kept away from their father, and it is now time to change the laws and implement just as much strictness on mothers as on the fathers that struggle with child support. For the fathers that want to be in their child(ren)'s lives they should be allowed to be and without interference from the mother(s), grandparent's, family, friends etc. There is an immediate and urgent need for laws that protect the fathers and the children that suffer through this from the past, present, and future.

Donald Trump broke the law inciting violence with hate speech and fighting words, a violation of the First Amendment. He should be liable criminally and restricted from our democratic process, and stop his call for a fascist regime in America. What he is doing is not American! We must hold those who are running for the legal position of leadership, like the Presidency accountable for their actions according to the law.

With every debate I have to go to www.factcheck.org the following day to confirm quotes referencing percentages, costs, and accusations. Every day following debates and interviews there are articles, editorials and media coverage reporting falsehoods and exaggerations, often painting very inappropriate pictures of candidates and their stances. This is a gross injustice. The American people CAN have real-time fact checking and we deserve to know the truth. Too many people will not fact check after debates, and their opinions will be drawn based on lies and exaggerations. We must be better than this.

It is a food service industry norm that employees (fast food, restaurants, or cafeterias) receive a daily meal for each shift worked. For many years now UCSD Health Nutrition Services Employees have been denied a daily meal allowance (which is $5/day) in the CX Unit (cashiers, call center and other department administrative employees). Other UC food services workers receive a daily food allowance for each shift worked. UC wanted to trade this daily allowance for a reduction in the hourly wage for UC CX unit represented workers many years ago. Teamsters Local 2010 members (cashiers and other food services administrative employees) want fairness with their coworker that receive the daily meal allowance. It is time to give back the daily meal allowance to all Teamster represented employees in Nutrition Services so they can also enjoy the products delivered or produced by their Teamsters sisters and brothers. Patty Maysent (UCSD Health CEO), As a UC employee, patient, student, volunteer, or supporter I stand with the UC Health Cashiers (all CX Unit employees) and demand that they receive the daily $5 meal allowance today.

In the United States alone, approximately 50 billion animals including fish and other sea animals are killed annually to be eaten (approximately 100,000 every minute). Animals who are killed for their flesh endure intense psychological and physical trauma, and undercover investigations have found that they are routinely eviscerated while still conscious. Over 75% of Americans believe animals should be protected from "all suffering and harm." One in 3 believes animals should have "the same rights as people." It's time for progressive politicians to live up to their reputation for justice and stop the most violent industry on the planet!

Young adults have grown up in a society and been brain-washed to achieve the "unattainable " perfection.

Our son was struck and killed by a car on June 2, 2014 while crossing the street on Lorraine & Hicks to get the city bus to get to school early for extra tutoring for an upcoming test. I have to cross that street every day and do see cars speeding, as well as being reckless. Since the city does not want to put up a stop light, I hope that a 4 way stop sign will slow these cars down, and another family doesn't lose a love one. Please help me get the stop signs put in place

We need to get this initiative on the ballot and for that we need not only signatures, but the support of our local officials. Too many people are working and because of the low wages are still unable to live the life they want. We shouldn't have to make the choice to pay our light bill OR pay our phone bill. We need a raise.
