Much of McConnell's own personal wealth--which he's used to finance his political campaigns--derives from his father-in-law's company, which is now under scrutiny after one of its ships was found with 40 kg, or 88 pounds, of cocaine smuggled aboard. Little Havana residents require parking spaces but investors and developers want to circumvent established parking requirements in order to make a higher profit by building more units and NOT providing parking. This will create a hardship for hard working residents where parking is already scarce and add to their cost of living by having to pay for off-site parking. They will have to park their cars far from their homes and expose themselves to possible theft or vandalism.

This is a national and now international embarrassment,hundreds,perhaps thousands are trying to get that disgraceful court to listen to reason, but their arrogance and lack of intelligence does not allow them to see the public opinion is against this, instead of looking for a compassionate end of this tax payers waste of money, both the DA and the Judge Dean Dedmon in Dyersburg City Court instead are taking a confrontational position against the community ,the nation and animal lovers world wide. We are trying to save the dog from an unusual and cruel punishment by the city, this is the type of behavior that gets any community angry against the court system, and I ask, would not be more effective to listen to your community instead of confronting it?

In 2007, the citizens of San Francisco gave SFMTA authority to manage and update City parking policies, without ongoing oversight from the Board of Supervisors. SFMTA published the 'Policies for On-Street Parking Management' document in order to "provide transparency in how the agency makes decisions." The agency promised the document contained "no new policies" and only clarified "where we do (and do not) use parking meters and residential parking permits.” Public data, internal emails, and dissenting staff memos prove otherwise. SFMTA staff misled their own Board of Directors and violated the public trust by creating all new policies. Even after appeals from 20+ neighborhood and business associations and the agency's Citizen Advisory Committee to rescind the policies, the SFMTA Board has taken no action. The Board of Supervisors must step in to provide oversight and accountability.

In both 2010 and 2012, at least half the students in the San Francisco Unified School District skipped classes to attend the Giants World Series victory parades. Because schools receive state funding based on daily attendance, these absences resulted in losses of over $160,00 in 2012 alone to the school district. This is a loss our schools can ill afford, and yet who can blame students for wanting to share in the Giants' victory? We call on Larry Baer, President and CEO of the Giants, to donate at least $160,000 to the SFUSD this year (2014) to compensate for the lost funding our schools will experience as their students join in celebrating our 2014 World Champion San Francisco Giants. Let the Giants and SFUSD BE STRONGER TOGETHER! BE CHAMPIONS TOGETHER! LET'S GO GIANTS! LET'S GO SFUSD!

The traffic circle that is located on 32nd and Guilford Avenue, makes it very dangerous for both pedestrians and drivers. The amount of space that is available at the location of the circle makes it impossible to see oncoming traffic if you are a pedestrian. All four corners of the pedestrian crosswalks are all blind spots to oncoming cars. This causes any pedestrian at the circle have to step out into the street, and in most cases into oncoming traffic. The oncoming traveling cars have a very difficult time seeing pedestrians and other cars coming into the circle. The spacing of the roadway and the crosswalks, that is available at the circles specific location is too small to be able to properly brake in time for pedestrians. This petition is being created for neighbors in the area to voice their concern about how dangerous of a traffic hazard the circle creates.

Artist's Alley is a thriving community of world renowned resident artists that define Delray Beach as an Arts destination. It would be tragic, to say the least, to lose our status as a city that supports the local arts community to nearby towns such as Lake Worth that actively promote and financially support their budding arts scene. Please help us keep the artist in the Alley and prevent redevelopment from destroying what has flourished thus far.

Several years ago Douglas County agreed to allow the Beulah Bulldogs Youth Football & Cheerleading Program the opportunity to relocate to a new sports complex at the Boundary Waters Aquatic Center to continue the long lasting tradition of Beulah Bulldogs Football & Cheerleading Association. Recently, there's been a push by another local youth organization that's attempting to block our move and is attempting to persuade the county to allow them to occupy the new facility. Please show our county officials the strength of the Beulah Family and why the oldest and best youth football and cheer organization in Douglas County is deserving of the new facility at Boundary Waters. Let your voice be heard.

I want Berkeley to be a model of good behavior in elections, and I want ballot measures to win or lose based on their merits. Instead Mayor Bates and others are resorting to unethical and illegal behavior regarding Measure R and Measure S.

On Monday, October 27th, the Mayor and City Council discussed a temporary stop to development in industrial areas adjacent to school zones and residential neighborhoods. Unfortunately, they did not take action to vote on the temporary moratorium. We are grateful the Mayor and Council did take action to ensure the study recommended 10 years ago to create a transition zone will be started immediately. However, a study without a moratorium is just a green light for developers to build monstrous, gigantic buildings and subject our neighborhoods, our schools and our kids to more negative impacts of industrial use. The Mayor and City Council must pass the moratorium at their next meeting on November 3rd.

As we enter the final weeks of a midterm election that is almost certain to be marked by the most big money spent and the lowest voter turnout in American history, we who believe in “one person, one vote” political equality must exercise our right to vote and support candidates who will defend our democracy. Kai Newkirk and other 99Rise leaders are fasting until at least 28,000 Americans (after the 28th Amendment for which we fight) sign the pledge to stand against corruption and vote in support of pro-democracy candidates this November. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority has decided to evict Posman Books from Grand Central Terminal. They are refusing to renew the independent bookseller's lease, and Posman's has to be out by December 31. The bookstore's space will be used for storage while a new tower is built. However, the Rite-Aid next door to Posman's will remain in business. New York is losing bookstores left and right. We cannot afford to lose another. Meanwhile, we're drowning in Rite-Aid (and Duane Reade, and Walgreens, and CVS). MTA, your decision to deny a lease renewal to Posman's--an independent, long-time, local New York business--is unconscionable and immoral. By doing so, you are contributing to the cultural death of the city. We ask that you renew Posman's lease and find another space for storage.
