• Demand Birchbox Cease Sales of Animal-tested Products!
Birchbox has cornered the market when it comes to selling samples to women (and men). Their products are colorful, innovative, and helpful -- yet often those included come from companies that continue to test on animals even though reliable, safe methods have been developed so that this process is no longer necessary. We demand that Birchbox take a look at the bigger picture -- one that includes not only beauty, sales, and money but also the faces of the animals who suffer and die every day for the sake of developing that newest mascara or face cream. Alternative methods exist that can eradicate the need for these cruel tests, and Birchbox has the opportunity to show the world it's important to be compassionate as well as fashion-savvy. Please sign this petition to send a message to Birchbox that we will no longer sit back and turn a blind eye to the cruelty occurring in the makeup industry. Then tell them you will unsubscribe until they've reevaluated and retooled the way they do business going forward. Together we can make an amazing change!

  • Help keep SLCC's community cats fed and safe!
Because of TNR programs (implemented by Community cat programs) yearly euthanasia rates drop as high as 30%. Many campuses across the US (including Duke, Stanford, and Utah's own USU) have successful community cat programs in place. A number of students and staff are in support of implementing a program to protect the cats and their homes.

  • Legalize Cannabis in Utah
I'm starting this petition to find better energy sources, help reduce pollution, Improve the health of our community with nutrition, vitamins and minerals, healthy oils and proteins. Too many people in jails over a plant that is a major benefit to people in food, building industry, medicine, fabrics and clothes. 3-4 times a year harvest. Bring balance to middle class. "Legalize recreational use! Also allow studies on health benefits and cures for disease!" Legalize for home grown! "the use of marijuana should be up to the individual."

  • National Law Requiring All Police To Wear Cameras While On Duty
It is heart breaking to see that so many lives are lost for no reason. The fact that most of the time the police who commit these murders for no legitimate reason go unpunished makes these murders even worse.

  • STOP the SALE of the FREE PARKING LOT in Manayunk
The residents-maintained parking lot on Gay Street in Manayunk that has provided much needed parking for the neighborhood for nearly 30 years is at risk of being sold to make way for more un-needed houses. At least 35 more cars will be added to the already overly glutted parking situation in Manayunk.

  • Demand that Facebook discontinue or change it's "real name" policy
Last month many of us, especially those of us in the trans* community, spoke up and complained about Facebook suspending and locking out many Drag Queens and Kings from their Facebook accounts. This caused a huge inconvenience as these were the pages that these performers needed and used to promote themselves and their acts. In a like fashion I used my 'middle name" on my Facebook page to promote my not-for- profit which designed to benefit the entire LBGTQ community as well as anyone who is struggling. Last Monday I found my page suspended and I was locked out. Personally this was not a huge deal as I have not had the time or money to work on my non-profit. However as that has been my name for several years now, it did cause many of my friends to wonder if they did have the correct Sheri "AmericanRainbow" Proctor. Now we find out that Facebook is also using this policy to suspend and lockout trans* people in the Middle East, specifically Saudi Arabia, forcing these people to prove that the name they are using is their real name! This is in direct conflict with Facebook's "Authentic Name" stated in their terms of service. Facebook needs to know and understand that outing trans* people all over the world will far too often lead to their murder. Especially in parts of the world where this could come from the local or regional government! http://planettransgender.com/saudi-arabian-transgender-woman-leena-newest-victim-of-facebooks-name-policy/

  • Demand a Debate!
Public officials should be mandated to accept a public debate during an election year. Debates allow for many issues to be discussed. It is an opportunity for the public to see, hear and learn about real issues facing their government and communities. To have our Governor reject a public debate is a shameful act of defiance that must be corrected.
