Facebook is failing to live up to its obligations under its terms of service. It is failing to prevent the platform being used to spread hate and take it viral. Example of clear antisemitism that were reported to Facebook have now been reviewed by them and they have decided not to take any action. The picture of Anne Frank with the text "Whats that burning? Oh, my it's my family" is just one outragous example which was reported to Facebook only for the complaint to be dismissed. The company is letting down the Facebook community, that is us, the people. Implement ongoing regular systematic audits of complaints processed by front line staff Hate speech can target either a person or a group of people. It includes speech targeting all people of a particular race, nationality, ethnicity, country of origin, religion, sexuality, gender identity, gender, or on the basis of a medical condition or disability. Facebook’s terms of service, the “Statement of Rights and Responsibilities”, clearly state: “You will not post content that: is hate speech”. Facebook must act to remove the hate.

Park Slope has no mass transit access for the aging and disabled. Therefore, the only way for residents to go to appointments in Manhattan, including doctor, family , educational and cultural visits, usually requires that they drive or take car service. This increases environmental pollution thus negating an important goal of urban living. In addition , it is an added expense to this population many of whom live on fixed budgets and must deal with the costs of living in New York ,one of the most expensive cities in the USA.

The 2000 E Biddle Street vacant properties have been a hub for drug use, homelessness, and temporary dump site of materials. As our Mayor has requested, these sites are to be revitalized to support more green communities, with beauty and safety as the top priority. We, the undersigned, wish to express our concern regarding the recently enacted policy of photo-video enforcement of speed limits in Nassau County school zones. While we appreciate the intention to increase safety, we question the fairness of the way in which this policy has been implemented. Engineering and education should always precede enforcement. Specifically, there has been a sudden computerized enforcement of school zone speed limits that have rarely, if ever, been enforced before. This has resulted in multiple, though unintentional and unknowing, violations and huge fines. This does not constitute fairness or due process. In the interest of compassion, a warning would be more appropriate for first-time offenders, as well as for those who may have committed multiple violations in a very short period, but were informed of the first one and subsequent ones only weeks later. We agree with Judy Jacobs, who has called for the County Executive to "stop the program cold, now, and reassess how to continue in a fair and equitable way." We, therefore, petition the Legislature for a moratorium, and the courts for leniency, in the administration of fines and penalties assessed under this new policy, until a fair and compassionate system can be put into operation.

The ACE study is one of the largest medical investigations ever conducted to assess associations between childhood maltreatment and later-life health and well-being. They found that a child’s exposure to certain trauma’s, including domestic violence or child sexual abuse, resulted in more illnesses and injuries to children in childhood through adulthood (i.e., social emotional and cognitive impairment; adoption of health-risk behaviors; disease, disability and social problems; and premature death). This study demonstrates how a child’s exposure to domestic or sexual abuse is a PUBLIC HEALTH ISSUE. Yet every year, an estimated 58,000 children are sent for custody or unprotected visitation with a reported abuser. So how is this happening? Although research confirms that deliberately false allegations by mothers in child sexual abuse cases occurs less than 2% of the time, 85% of these cases results in custody to the alleged abuser—which means our courts are sending children to live with their rapist. Inadequately trained professionals tend to believe the myth that mothers frequently make false allegations. Therefore, in thinking they have the needed expertise, they don't listen to domestic violence or child abuse evidence, experts, or consider current research. Mothers are then forced into poverty trying to protect their children-- while, their children continue to be abused. Mr. President, we now have the medical research to declare domestic violence and child abuse a PUBLIC HEALTH ISSUE. The Justice Department reports that only 10% of children are protected from further abuse once they report. The U.S. Department of Justice's Saunders report states that the STANDARD and REQUIRED domestic violence training received by judges, lawyers, and evaluators does not adequately prepare them to handle abuse cases. WE ARE PETITIONING FOR AN INVESTIGATION OF FAMILY COURT PRACTICES IN AN EFFORT TO STOP STATE JUDGES FROM FORCING DEFENSELESS CHILDREN TO BE HARMED BY ABUSERS. WE WANT AN AUDIT OF THE FUNDING TO THE COURTS, AND ADDRESS THIS FUNDING THAT IS GENDER BASED AND FUELING THE WAR ON WOMEN AND CHILDREN.
