• Save Club Sports!
With three Libraries at the University, including 2 on the uptown campus, it has been decided that there was a need for an athletic study area limited to only athletes. By doing this they had to tear down the wrestling room where various club sports hold practice every night of the week. The compensation given to these clubs was a small mat room in the basement of the PE building. This room does not have enough room for a single wrestling match (2 people) no less a practice where up to 40 or even 60 students attend.

  • Miami Springs Pool Petition
The current pool proposal only has 4 lanes. That will kill competitive swimming for the next 50 years. Plus, the city is planning to add an unneeded $623,000 building for recreation and rentals. We suggest the city scrap the plans for the extra building and make the pool a full 8 lanes. Further, the new pool design includes a significantly larger deck which adds to the cost of the new construction. We recommend a smaller deck, no extra building, and a full 8 lanes for swimming.

  • Rename U.S. Constitution Day to Stephen Colbert Day
The general public is sadly unaware that September 17th is officially Constitution Day. Through his humorous "truthiness" and widespread media outreach, Dr. Stephen Colbert is the ideal spokesperson for this historic day. Every signature on this petition helps to bring attention to the Constitution therefore, accomplishing our goal.

  • Terri Lynn Land for Michigan or Koch brothers,
I am tired of just a few billionaires spending so much money to fix an election , its about time the people got involved and picked the right people and the only way for that to happen is public debates. We are starting to look like a third world country when elections can be bought and only the rich decide who is in office.

  • NFL Viking's Management: At the least, deactivate Adrian Peterson.
Hitting your child in the testicles, putting leaves in your child's mouth, leaving lasting bloody marks on your child, and beating him with a switch is considered abuse. The excuse that this is how Adrian Peterson was beaten as a child is not a valid excuse. If Ray Rice had said that he had seen his mother abused when he was a child, would that have made the video any less gruesome? Given Adrian Peterson's publicity, his actions and NFL/Vikings management's reactions leave an impression on society. Viking's management must at least do the bare minimum and deactivate Adrian Peterson, for the sake of the NFL's punishment process, and to send a signal to every parent, that abuse of an innocent child is an abomination.

  • ISC Gunners FC. Enough! We want a new board NOW!
Wait…isn’t this supposed to be about the kids? This is supposed to be a club that is, from its own website, “dedicated to teaching our youth the remarkable game of soccer while promoting sportsmanship, discipline and teamwork.” This email and the apparent events of the past several months (years?) clearly indicates this board is incapable of leading by its own values. Sportsmanship? Discipline? Teamwork? Hardly. Instead, as parents and coaches, we are watching a political nightmare and what appears to be an abuse of power. Financial improprieties?…conflicts of interest?…misuse of club’s membership directory? And yet, all we get is a vague email assuring us that everything is ok and the board is going to do a better job now? We have lost all trust and confidence in the board oversight of this club. This is behavior we would not tolerate in our children and we should not tolerate it in our so-called “leaders”.

  • Get The Live Lobster Tanks out of Publix Supermarkets
Publix claims that shopping in their stores is a "pleasure".. Which is true in most instances. Having to walk past a tank of Live Lobsters which are obviously suffering while waiting to be bought and boiled alive is DISTURBING.. And shows a lack of compassion on the part of the store.

  • Support Safe Internet Access at Montgomery County Public Schools
Being able to access the internet at school is important for learning in the 21st century. It is also important our children access it through safe technology. The World Health Organization has classified Wi-Fi as being potentially carcinogenic. Therefore, we need to explore the alternatives to Wi-Fi that exist to ensure our children can realize the benefits of the internet without the potential health risks from the radiation emitted by wireless devices. We believe children and staff have a right to a safe school environment. On October 3, 2012 , the American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) approved a warning about Wi-Fi in schools in which the AAEM stated:“Adverse health effects from wireless radio frequency fields, such as learning disabilities, altered immune responses, and headaches, clearly exist and are well documented in the scientific literature. Safer technology, such as use of hard-wiring, is strongly recommended in schools.” Dr. Martha Herbert, a pediatric neurologist and neuroscientist on the faculty of the Harvard Medical School of Medicine and on the staff at Massachusetts General Hospital, wrote to the Los Angeles School Board on February 8, 2013, discouraging the installation of Wi-Fi, explaining that wireless radiation “from Wi-Fi and cell towers can exert a disorganizing effect on the ability to learn and remember, and can also be destabilizing to immune and metabolic function. This will make it harder for some children to learn, particularly those who are already having problems in the first place.” The American Academy of Pediatrics in August 29, 2013 wrote "Current FCC standards do not account for the unique vulnerability and use patterns specific to pregnant women and children. It is essential that any new standard for ...wireless devices be based on protecting the youngest and most vulnerable populations to ensure they are safeguarded throughout their lifetimes." Moreover, on November 14, 2013, the AAEM wrote “The peer reviewed, scientific literature demonstrates the correlation between RF exposure and neurological, cardiac, and pulmonary disease as well as reproductive and developmental disorders, immune dysfunction, cancer and other health conditions. The evidence is irrefutable. Despite the research, claims have been made that studies correlating emissions from Wi-Fi, phones, smart meters, etc. with adverse health effects do not exist.” While we are putting more and more radiation in our classrooms, countries around the world have opted for protecting their children. The governments of France, Belgium, Israel, Finland, Russia, India and the European Union have all taken steps toward reducing children's exposure to radiation from Wi-Fi and other wireless devices. In Israel, the Ministry of Education has banned the use of wireless networks for preschool through second and has instructed all schools to perform radiation tests. In addition, Israel’s Minister of Health, Rabi Litzman, stated that he supports a ban on Wi-Fi in schools.
