  • Texans want GMOs Labeled
Before the FDA decided to allow GMOs into food without labeling, FDA scientists had repeatedly warned that GM foods can create unpredictable, hard-to-detect side effects, including allergies, toxins, new diseases, and nutritional problems. They urged long-term safety studies, but were ignored. Our children and future generations are now depending on you to protect the genetic integrity of our food, our seeds, and our bodies.

  • No Duvall Walmart
WALMART IS A BAD IDEA FOR OUR COMMUNITY! -Crime: An average of 269 police incidents per year take place at every Walmart— 80% of crimes occur in the parking lots—there is nothing to prevent these criminals from filtering into our neighborhood. -Jobs: Walmart is known for driving out competitors, especially small businesses. What will happen to all the businesses of Vista Gardens and Fairwood if Walmart comes to town? -Parking: The parking lot in Duvall Village is often nearly or completely full as it is. Imagine how tough it would be to find a spot with Super Walmart sharing the lot, too! -Traffic: Getting around town is difficult enough as it is, now imagine what traffic on 450, Glenn Dale Rd., and Atwell Ave. would look like with a Super Walmart! -Property Value: Super Walmarts are usually open 24 hours a day. All of the crime, traffic, trash, and noise generated by a 24-hour store could have very negative effects on the value of our homes.

  • MHHS Track & Field Use
Mountain House is a small community with limited facilities available for public use. Building a track in the center of the planned town and then not allowing the community regular access to it does not make any sense. We should be encouraging people to use our local facilities, not discouraging them.

  • Del. Carr and Sen. Marsh: Please Support GMO Labeling in Virginia
This is an issue that affects everyone. GMOs are not currently labeled in Virginia so when we shop at our local grocery stores we do not always know what we are purchasing. If we had companies label GMOs, it would uphold our right to know what is in our food.

  • Keep the Cameras Off Our Streets
I have a legitimate concern seeing the things going on around the nation, and these things are quickly materializing in our own backyard. Cameras in our streets and highways, drones in our skies, unnecessary police bullying/violence. What is this coming to and how far will it go before we take action?

  • Bereavement Leave Petition
I am the mother of a deceased child and know how hard it is to adjust following the death of a child. My employer allowed 3 days bereavement leave. That was hardly enough time to plan Todd's funeral. The real challenge was adjusting to a new normal following a traumatic loss. If an employee is allowed up to 12 weeks for the birth of a child, why is an employee not allowed the same for the death of a child? Having experienced both, I assure you the latter was a much tougher adjustment for me. A parent should not need a medical diagnosis of depression to utilize the FMLA leave! The obituary should be more than enough! Please help me to help the parents that don't ever want to think they will need this...until they do.

  • To Serve and Protect Our Communities
My husband and I were victimized last year at our home. My neighbors called the police 4 different times and they never came. Even after my neighbors mentioned hearing gun shots, glass breaking and home alarm going off the police still didn't come. After my husband and I were robbed and almost gunned down in our driveway myself and a different neighbor called the police. The police came after the fact. Now my husband is is paralyzed from the waist down. If the police would have responsed to the first call the crime would have been prevented and my husband wouldn't be paralyzed. And the criminals would have been caught. The evidence was not properly collected due to the lack of not caring or doing their job to protect and serve.
