  • Save 100 Affordable Student Housing Units in Pasadena
"As a former student at Fuller Seminary, I know how hard it is to find housing that's affordable. Now that I live in a low-income area of Pasadena, I witness the challenges that many here face to afford to remain here when they are being squeezed out by the rising cost of housing. 23,000 household in Pasadena are in need of affordable housing. Students will be competing with those long term residents who grew up in Pasadena and are being priced out and displaced, for the same precious few affordable units that exist. Please sign this petition and attend the Pasadena City Council meeting when this will be address, likely on June 23rd, at 7 pm. The Council Chambers are located at the southeast corner of the second floor of the City Hall. Contact me confirm the date: [email protected]

  • Stop the Overuse of Antibiotics on Factory Farms
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, every year more than two million people are hospitalized and 23,000 die because they have been infected with antibiotic-resistant bacteria. We're now in danger of returning to an age when simple infections are potentially fatal. Our decision-makers need to hear from the public, and it needs to happen quickly. That’s why we've launched a campaign to stop the overuse of antibiotics where the problem is the worst -- on factory farms that mix antibiotics right into the feed of healthy animals. In fact, 80 percent of the antibiotics sold in the U.S. are for animals. The result? Bacteria that come into contact with these animals mutate and become resistant to antibiotics, and the infections these bacteria cause -- everything from pneumonia to MRSA -- become harder and harder to treat. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has the authority to stop the worst overuse of antibiotics on factory farms. Please join us in calling on the FDA to act now.

  • MBTA: don't make a mess!
Just as the late-night T service begins, the MBTA is planning to cut cleaning services to the bone beginning September 1st. At stations across the Greater Boston, nearly 100 out of 315 janitors are about to lose their jobs – nearly 1/3 of the total cleaning workforce. This means grime-filled staircases, dirty walls, garbage-strewn stations and sticky floors. I´ve been cleaning these stations for over 8 years. These cuts are not going to work . . . and we are going to smell the results.

  • Historical Justice for the African Holocaust in the Congo Free State (1885-1908).
The Free State criminal rule was eventually condemned in its day by the international community. However, history was forgotten and currently Belgium is denying the truth, glorifying Leopold II with monuments and euro coins. Even though there were some books written recently and the British Parliament proposed a motion on it in 2006, this horrific murderous regime has not yet received its due historical justice.

  • Open Road to Sunrise Sooner
PLEASE OPEN THE SUNRISE SIDE OF THE PARK NOW Mt. Rainier National Park puts huge efforts into the Paradise side of the Park benefitting the small towns along the way while our Sunrise side is low on the priority list. Help us send a message to the Park that Enumclaw and Sunrise matter. Lost visitor traffic through our community irreparably damages our small hometown economy. The National Park service calls Enumclaw a "Gateway Community." The roads are nearly cleared and plowed. The gates should open. The Park website currently shows a planned opening date for Sunrise of July 3rd. Paradise, and the Paradise area is kept open year-round with plans to open a second road - Paradise Valley on June 20th. The lack of an earlier opening date unfairly hurts businesses in Enumclaw, Greenwater and Crystal Mountain - sending Mt. Rainier traffic through Ashford to the other side of the Park. We are asking for the road to open by next weekend, June 20, if not sooner.

  • Collamer Residents against the Development of Dollar General
We feel that this is not the right location for a Dollar General. A large corporate company in a small neighborhood is not a right fit. Childrens' bus stops are at this exact location and we feel is a danger to their well being and safety.

  • Save NC Youth Advocacy and Involvement Office
The NC Youth Advocacy and Involvement Office (YIAO) hosts programs such as the State Youth Council (SYC), SADD, and the Youth Legislative Assembly (YLA). Eliminating this office would abolish the SYC and SADD. Furthermore, YLA would be moved under the authority of the NC General Assembly and would not remain the program that it has been for the past 44 years. The SYC is responsible for the youth councils across this state. These councils provide teenagers with a welcoming environment where teens learn leadership, dedication to community service, and volunteering! The budget that has been proposed by the NC General Assembly would eliminate the Youth Advocacy and Involvement Office; therefore, abolishing the State Youth Council and SADD, as well as changing the Youth Legislative Assembly from its traditions. We urge the North Carolina General Assembly to continue to fully fund the Youth Advocacy and Involvment Office!

  • Citizens of Palestine Demand Action
There have been irrefutable facts, as well as personal and professional opinions presented showing that Robert Herbert is not a good fit for the Palestine Police Department YET Palestine City Council has chosen to ignore the facts and sugar coat the problem to make it slowly melt away. We must show the officers that we will support them. We must put our 'money where our mouth is' and put our name on this document showing Palestine's City Manager, Mayor and Council that we will not stop until positive change has been created.
