• Justice for Scotty
Our son, Scott is an avid ice hockey player. He has complete respect for the game, its’ players and spectators alike both on and off the ice. As a player on the Bellmore-Merrick Bulldogs Junior Varsity team his season has been cut short. On 2/15/14 at 8:15pm he attended the Long Beach rink’s open hockey session for a friendly scrimmage; where there is a NO checking/hitting rule in place. There were three players from the Bellmore-Merrick Bulldogs varsity at the session mocking the JV players throughout the session. At approximately 9:40pm Nick Lewis intentionally openly checked/hit Scott with such velocity witnessed by other skaters and spectators; causing a clean break to Scott’s wrist on contact. It was not Nick Lewis’ willful or vicious hit on Scott with intention to cause a successful injury that we find most disturbing but the fact that Nick chuckled about it. Nick has shown NO remorse for his vicious unsportsmanlike conduct . Nick has had numerous chances to show some kind of concern, even an offer of apology and he has not, nor have his parents. Apparently it has come to our attention that this was not the first time that Nick has caused injury to another player of this magnitude. Besides Scott’s physical and emotion pain that he is enduring from there is so much being taken from our son unnecessarily. This is Scott’s last season with the Bellmore-Merrick Bulldogs organization that has now been cut short. He will no longer be able to participate with his team at the state championship, nor at playoffs this season. Scott is a junior in high school this year, a very important year academically as he will be applying to college. In less than 6 weeks he will taking the SAT’s and with an injury on his right arm it will impair his ability to write. There is the potential need for surgery and the need for physical therapy that he will have to endure that could have all been avoided. Scott should not suffer alone in these losses and there should be consequences as a result of this blatant intentional act of violence. Nick Lewis should be punished appropriately for his actions by being removed as a member of AAU and a player from both the Bellmore Merrick Bulldogs and the High School Hockey League of Nassau County. We view this as a fair and justifiable punishment supported by the fact that Nick Lewis has failed to adhere to rules as outlined in the various Codes of Conduct that Nick Lewis is required to sign in order to play with the Bellmore Merrick Bulldogs. These rules apply on AND off the ice include but are limited to · I will demonstrate good sportsmanship by showing respect and courtesy, and by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, and officials at every game, practice or other sporting event. · I will not engage in any kind of unsportsmanlike conduct with any official, coach, player, or parent such as taunting; refusing to shake hands; or using profane language or gestures · Set an example in word and deed, both on and off the playing area. · Use appropriate language and refrain from crude or abusive language or gestures when dealing with opponents, officials, spectators, or classmates. · Refrain from disorderly, disruptive or insubordinate behaviors including bullying or harassment. · Be responsible for their behaviors. Therefore, students who are found to have violated district policy and/or the code of conduct will face disciplinary actions. · Treat all players, coaches, officials, parents and other fans, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation or creed with respect to refrain from abusive language, actions, and gestures, while either on or off the ice. Further, Nick Lewis signed an oath: “I also agree that if I fail to abide by the aforementioned rules and guidelines, I will be subject to disciplinary action …….”. Please sign our petition to discipline Nick Lewis immediately as a member of AAU and a player from both the Bellmore Merrick Ice Hockey Bulldogs Team and the High School Hockey League of Nassau County for his unsportsmanlike conduct and violent attack.

  • Unban Seppe'sai
My friend of over a year, who I would trust with my life, was tragically hacked by a malicious attack. After a password recovery process he logged in to notice his gaming gear and credits were gone. After asking SWTOR customer service if something could be done they instead banned his account for being part of what they called "real world trading." This was a error on their part, and the community needs to support him in getting his account returned. I, Evan Mendenhall aka BladeBoques will not yield until they realize their arbitrary ruling was a mistake and make it right.

  • Welcome Home Vietnam War Vets
I am 62 years old , I did not serve in the military, in fact I actively worked against the Vietnam War, and especially the draft. Unfortunately many of my generation conflated hatred of the war with hatred of the men & women who served. This injustice needs to finally be officially ended, especially at a time when many of these vets are struggling to live a life of dignity

  • Jeddus Helmet Law
February 17, 2014 many of us lost a friend, amazing man, father, son and brother. If the law dictated helmets were mandatory for all riders, the injuries he suffered may not have taken him from us. Please help us to enforce The Jeddus Helmet Law. There should be no more heartache from losing loved ones.

  • FORCE AIRLINES TO MAKE AN ANNOUNCEMENT OF AIRBORNE PEANUT/TREE NUT ALLERGIES
Recently I had to fly with my 9 year old daughter who has a life threatening peanut/tree nut allergy. Her peanut allergy is considered AIRBORNE and has a history of a reaction to being present in a room when a person had peanut butter crackers. I asked the flight attendant to make an announcement to just inform the passengers about her airborne peanut allergy. She refused. I specifically asked again and told her my daughters history and I only asked that she just inform the passengers of her allergy. I also stated that I was only asking to let everyone know, that I was not asking her to tell them not to eat peanut products. Just let them know so they can make an informed decision whether or not to do so. She told me that all airlines do not allow such announcements because of potential law suits of infringing on the rights of passengers to eat what they wish. I responded very calmly that what about the passengers rights to be informed of a life threading allergy ? What if someone did not know and opened a bag of peanuts and my daughter went into anaphylactic shock ? What if they would have easily not opened that product if they had been informed of such an allergy and it could have been avoided? What about the law suite of my daughters life threatening reaction and then the law suite of the passenger because they have to live with that guilt for the rest of their life? What about "your" own guilt at the refusal to make that announcement that could have saved my daughter from a life threatening reaction? This can all be avoided if they just make an informed announcement Just let the passengers be aware of the LIFE THREATENING AIRBORNE allergy...that is it.... It is that simple. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER...When you are informed, you make better decisions.... period

  • Food Truck Freedom
Support Baltimore's Food Trucks! There is legislation being considered that would restrict food truck parking to designated food truck zones. We love the idea of food truck zones but also need to be able to park at metered spaces! If you love trucks and want them to be able to park at meters in addition to the food truck zones, please let your voice be heard!

  • Retire the #3 in NASCAR for DALE!
Ever since I was a youngin' I was stuck on NASCAR like an Alabama Blue Tick. At this point I've wasted a good portion of my life and don't have much else besides NASCAR. That being said, when Dale died on that fateful day in 2001 I literally dripped sweat from my eyes and refused to leave my bed for two whole weeks. I ended up being fired from work, becoming an alcoholic, and getting divorced from my muse, my flame, my wife Sheela. It was a tough recovery and adjustment period but through the healing of time and Jesus I was able to get back on my feet again and will myself back into watching NASCAR. If this number 3 car is driven again by another other than a person in Dale's literal bloodline, then all those painful memories will return. I ask the online and NAS CAR communities to help prevent this and prevent Austin Dillon from bringing shame to the God-given greatest number of all, number 3, by signing this petition. God bless. • Time for a Repeat of the John Sinclair Freedom Rally
Families everywhere are being torn apart for using cannabis, God and Nature's gift to all. The Wilson family's story (http://www.ladybud.com/2013/12/17/the-war-isnt-over-the-wilson-family/) is iconic: an illegal search and seizure, no money to fight the case, a possible 15 years in prison, and a two-year-old who may grow up without either parent. And all based on the crime of using God's gift. The 1971 Rally for John Sinclair's Freedom was a long time ago; we need another one now. God and Nature's creations don't need to be legalized, they need to be decriminalized. No one should go to jail for growing a plant.
