Medical experts say "ex-gay therapy" costs lives, contributing to already epidemic levels of depression and suicide among lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender youth. So why is a Roman Catholic Cardinal offering his blessing to a conference that trains therapists and priests in ex-gay therapy? Even as other ex-gay ministries apologize and close their doors, the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality (NARTH) continues to promote the view that homosexuality is a disorder and can be "cured." Cardinal Francis George, the Archbishop of Chicago, is scheduled to celebrate Mass at the "Courage Conference" immediately after two therapists affiliated with NARTH, Dr. Bill Consiglio and Dr. Timothy Lock, offer training seminars for clergy and mental health care providers. Regardless of the Roman Catholic Church's official teachings on sexual morality, surely Cardinal George doesn't want to lend his endorsement to bogus and harmful medical techniques.

All Florida citizens should take note of those trying to boycott our state in an attempt to cause economic strife and struggle for its business owners and residents. We can fight back by boycotting those in power, and those with celebrity who boycott us by refusing to spend our money on them in any way.

My brother, Christopher Todd Marks, a 12-year-old boy, drowned in the Meramec river in August 2012. His stepdad, Todd Combs, provided alcohol for 7 minors that day. He was recently sentenced to just 1 year in county jail. Todd Combs has a previous record of 7 DWI's, previous domestic abuse charges, and assault charges. This man deserves to be put away for good. He is a criminal & Christopher did not get justice!! Help get this to our governor and legislature. We need harsher punishment for criminals in Missouri who harm children. They are all running free and making the world a dangerous place. SAVE THE CHILDREN, CHANGE THE LAWS!

There are many children, even those with special needs, that live on these streets. We do not want these speed bumps removed that might endanger the lives of one of our children.

My name is Darrell Williams and my 11 year old nephew, Jeffrey L Williams was killed by Carbon Monoxide leak in a Best Western Plus, Boone, NC hotel on June 8th. In the same room where he was killed, two other adults lost their life to Carbon Monoxide two months prior, and still no CO detector. The New York State Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) is investing $235.7 million to renovate the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge over the Hudson River. The problem? They’re sending this money to China instead of investing it here. The MTA is buying 15,000 tons of steel from Chinese-subsidized Anshan Iron and Steel Group and awarding fabrication work to the China Railway Shanhaiguan Bridge Group. Sound fishy? It is. Even though there is a “Buy American” clause, the MTA is trying to get around it by paying for this renovation with toll dollars instead of tax dollars. The MTA should be investing in American products and American workers, not sending money to China. Tell the MTA to reverse course and invest in our workforce.

There’s never been obstructionism quite like this before in Congress. Republicans are playing extreme politics and using every last trick in the book to deny President Obama a second term by blocking his executive branch, agency and judicial nominees. And so far Democrats are letting them get away with it -- playing by outdated, 20th century rules. The constitution says it loud and clear: The Senate by majority vote makes its own rules. And right now, we need REAL rules reform, not another watered down "deal" that lets Republicans continue to prevent government from functioning. Senate Majority Harry Reid says he's ready to move forward, but he needs the rest of the Senate Democrats to stand behind him.
