This petition is made to help people with somewhat of childhood criminal past become police officers. Furthermore, an arrest is one thing and conviction is another. It's very sad that government agencies are disqualify great applicants from employment based on an arrest ( not a conviction). Most of the police departments state that a conviction of a felony, domestic violence, larceny will disqualify you. However, I have learned that being arrested for something even if the case was dropped will disqualify you also even if the department does not list it. It does not matter how old you were when the arrest took place you will be disqualified from becoming a police officer. People like me need your help to change this so that way good applicants who made a changed in life can have a second chance at life. Why should life stop for those who really want to be in Law Enforcement who put forth the effort to give back to the community.
