Tell us everything upfront!Have you ever seen a television commercial for a weight loss supplement, an excercise machine, or a diet program? They have models showing you before & after shots like the product really works. Unfortunately, they fail to tell us that all the programs must incorporate a halthy diet & an excercise program. This is listed in the very small fine print on the bottom where it is difficult to see. The same applies to many other ads like automotive sales, car insurance, food, etc... Ever heard an ad for a car sale on the radio? At the end of the ad there is someone speaking really quickly telling us about all the hidden requirements for the deal being offered. Why are companies allowed to tell us one thing in their ads & then say something else in fine print? Companies should be obligated to tell consumers everything up front without hiding anything. Recently the aviation industry was required to show the total cost of a ticket including taxes, so why can't the rest of the bsuiness world be required to get rid of the fine print too?8 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Mohammad Malik

Putting an end to Daylight Savings TimeI believe, as a country, we should put an end to this ridiculous practice of Daylight Savings Time. Switching the time back and forth twice a year is, at best, inconvenient - at worst, deadly. As a former clinical researcher, I feel certain that a review of the appropriate records would support my suspicion that this change, particularly in the spring, is responsible for accidents of all kinds that could be avoided otherwise. I am speaking particularly about hospital errors and traffic accidents, but any activity that requires alertness and accuracy is at risk of being compromised by citizens who are sleep-deprived and groggy for the days or weeks it takes to readjust their biological clocks. Pity the students as well, who are coming to the end of their school semester and must readjust their bodies at a critical point in their school year. As humans, we all have biorhythms and this practice is a ridiculous disservice to our general health. I would prefer that we remain on the "natural" time year-round, but would settle for either schedule if we would just stick to one of them.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Danielle Weiner

Rethink the Second AmendmentThe right to bear arms in the Bill of Rights is guaranteed in order to maintain a"WELL-REGULATED MILITIA". That this country has allowed the widespread ownership of guns without ensuring a "well-regulated militia" has caused gun violence to proliferate beyond any sensible justification. We the people must start a new conversation regarding the abuse of the second amendment of the Bill of Rights of the U.S. Constitution.10 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Sandra Stanley

Protect Southern New Mexico LandsThe Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument has been proposed by a group of business, environmental, non-profit, and government organizations to preserve and protect the natural beauty of Southern New Mexico as well as historic sites including Mogollon Jornado, ancestral Puebloan, Spanish, Mexican, and Anglo - indigenous camps, petroglyphs, historic ranches and homesites, Butterfield Overland Mail route, World War II test and training bomb targets, and even places where Apollo astronauts trained. These areas in the Organ Mountains, Robledo Mountains, Sierra de las Uvas, and the Potrillo Volcanic Complex are threatened by development, mining, and potential abuses of the land. Previous attempts to protect these lands required an Act of Congress. Designating them a National Monument, under the Antiquities Act of 1904, requires only an Executive Order by the President. Protecting these special lands should be high on our list of things to do.641 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Bud Russo

Keep us on Daylight Savings TimeIs anyone else sick of falling back and springing ahead? Is it still relevant for the US to switch their clocks? Many countries do not observe it and even in the US certain states and counties within the states do not practice it. It causes more confusion than good. It messes with your circadian rhythm. Kids have difficulty with the adjustment. It just feels like an antiquated ritual that needs to end.3,528 of 4,000 SignaturesCreated by Dawn Decker

Families Destroyed by Hurricane KatrinaThis petition is to make people know how our courts have been and continue to be bought and sold by the wealthy when our judges and shady court practices side immediately with who has the most money without even doing background checks on them. I and many parents like me have been called a "flight risk" because I evacuated from Hurricane Katrina, a dangerous Category 5 hurricane. We had our children immediately stripped from us and given to the other parent who did NOT have even primary custody of the child(ren). These court cases were rushed through during times when the city was not fully up running and there was still martial law and price-gouging on rentals so people could not afford to come back and live. These victimized parents have ZERO rights to the children they once raised and cared for lovingly everyday. I want to push these crooks to overturn all these oportunistic judgements and let children be with their parents. New Orleans courts need to be investigated and held accountable for their actions regarding the evacuation loophole. Many children were taken away to live in other states by their parent who abused this system but evacuation is a "flight risk"? I think not.60 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Arienne Podoba

Petition for the Safety of the ChildrenThe School Board of the City of Alexandria wants to replace our Jefferson-Houston Elementary School - pre-k to 8 with a new building. With that, they plan to open a parking lot that dead ends into our playground and basketball court. They will move both amenities and wrap the new drop off around the current Olde Towne Swimming pool, which will make all pedestrians that use the pool or the playground or basketball at risk from moving vehicular traffic.5 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Bea Porter

Fix Deadly & Wasteful 128/95 & 93 Highway InterchangeThe 128/95 & 93 highway Interchange needs an update. Navigating the interchange is dangerous and wasteful. Daily backups waste fuel and motorists time. This impacts the local environment far more than any new construction. Level of Service is an "F" grade, we need to fix it.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Adam Pepper

Tennis Courts: Access and Common Area Rules ChangeThe current Common Area Rule (Revised March 2012) for the use of The Met tennis courts requires owners to gain access to the courts by either (1) going to the HOA office during business hours or (2) the security desk at the main entrance on Canoga Avenue as a result of the HOA decision to install locks on all of the courts. The courts were previously unlocked and available to all owners during available hours as a paid amenity (HOA fee).58 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Valerie Bakst
