To the Olympics 2012 committee, We wish for you to consider David Tennant as the official Lighter of the Olympic Flame. David portrays the Tenth Doctor on Doctor Who, a programme which has been part of our national consciousness for almost half a century and of which it can be said, captures the heart of being British more than an other piece of popular culture on television today. David, as the Doctor, was seen lighting the Flame in an episode called Fear Her which featured the 2012 Olympics. We feel it would be entirely appropriate for him to be given this honour for real.

Florida is in the midst of a foreclosure crisis. Compounding that is the vast mortgage fraud being perpetrated by robosigning and the lack of any clear path of ownership of the mortgage. To speed the clearance of foreclosures and heal the housing market, we need to enact legislation that will help clear the market while maintaining the rights of individuals. Please consider the following text of such legislation: Upon the filing of a foreclosure notice to the appropriate Florida County Clerk of Courts the Mortgagor (lender) will, within 30 days, file with the appropriate Florida County Clerk of Courts, the original signed Mortgage on the subject property. In absence of such an original signed Mortgage, filed in accordance with this provision, the appropriate Florida County Clerk of Courts will issue and record a satisfaction of lien for the subject property to the mortgagee. A fee of $50 will be paid by the Mortgagor upon filing the foreclosure notice to the appropriate Florida County Clerk of Courts.

Our Executive Councils and Leadership have come under scrutiny from those in support of State Patty's Day. They did not make this decision on their own. They are not alone. We support their efforts.

Bullying is horrible and causes a handful of suicides each year. One example is teasing/bullying emos. No matter what, it hurts people mentally and physically. No one deserves to be treated like that!

The City of Allen's smoking laws are outdated and need to catch up to all the cities surrounding us on the I-75 Corridor. There should be smoking bans in the workplace, including restaurants, and there should be laws stating how far from the entrance someone must be to smoke - 250 feet away. There should be no smoking on city property or public school property, especially in public parks and their parking lots. No Smoking signs should be installed in these locations, and signage should also be on all businesses stating how far one should be from the door to smoke. A phone number should be posted on all of the no smoking signs for reporting offenders. Until we state the rules, and have some way to enforce them, we, and our children will breath second hand smoke with every trip to the grocery store, pet store, and restaurant within the city of Allen. It is high time to clean up our act and get the same smoking regulations that Plano, Richardson, McKinney, Arlington, Ft Worth, Dallas, and the rest have had for a long time.

Do you want to buy from a backyard breeder or a huge, small cage puppy mill? Please take a stand to stop this bill that you will be paying for.

The Iowa Legislature is once again considering a bill to criminalize videotaping or photographing the animal cruelty and/or abuse taking place in animal facilities. The Iowa Senate Agriculture Committee is looking at SF431, which would not only create penalties for these activities, but also for "misrepresenting" oneself to gain access to these facilities, for example, on a job application. A related bill has already passed the Iowa House. Since we know that the large facilities that are the most likely to be involved in these heinous practices are NOT going to let anybody in to see what's going on, this would tie the hands of those who seek to expose these practices. It would send a message that not only are these acts tolerated, but the abusers are protected by law. There are several other states that are considering similar legislation. Contrary to the spin that is being put on these, this is NOT designed to protect your average family farmer, who is probably not engaging in these activities, but the huge agriculural concerns who have been lobbying hard for this legislation. Not only are these practices inhumane, but this environment also leads to concerns in the food supply, as evidenced by the recent salmonella outbreaks from huge poultry operations, or the concern about "downer" cows entering the food stream. Please voice your opinion that it is NOT OK to criminalize whistleblowing against abusive practices in animal facilities.

NBC's recent profile of online traffickers of assault rifles and weapons made for war exposed the fact that legislation to stop such sales put forward by NY democratic senator Charles Shumer(NY) has been languishing in committee for two years due to the NRA's large influence on capitol hill. Lets send a message to the Congress that this issue should take top priority before more inoc people are murdered.

During the conservative CPAC this week, Fox News regular Cal Thomas, while discussing the recent health care issue of the policy of mandated contraception, made the following comment: "I’m glad that you played the Rachel Maddow clip because I think she is the best argument in favor of her parents using contraception. I would be all for that. And all of the rest of the crowd at MSNBC, too, for that matter." These types of comments degrade the political debate in this country. Whether or not you agree with Ms. Maddow's position, these types of public comments should be met with a response of overwhelming support for those who are denigrated.
