• Oppose the Social Security cuts
Opposing the Social Security cuts! I don't think that I have been affected yet by the cuts, but I know that I probaby will be when I become older! I'm in my early 30's right now but I know that when I hit my retired age I wont be able to retire because there will be no SS for us born in and around the 80's!! This is really sad that we wont get to have this opportunity to have what others (meaning people before us) had or have. And for those who already have it, they're not getting much. I don't want to have to work in a low down pet store TRYING to make ends meet. My parents wont be around forever! I want to have somewhere to live on my own and to not ever be on foodstamp or any kind of government assistance again, because I've never had to go this route before. Bush has really messed up the younger generation to come! Please don't do this and STOP BEING SO FREAKIN GREEDY!! If you guys would just work the heck together and also raise the minimum wage because no one can live off just 7.25 an hr!!! I mean if you were in our shoes how would YOU feel? Think about that. I mean you can't live in this world alone... I mean what if we were all on that, you wouldn't have taxes to help pay for your sal or anyone to really rule over (Republicans! I'm talking to you now) So thank about that. I mean you only can do soo much w/ money and it only can take you so far. You will fail! Thank you!

  • Congress is killing the Post Office
The Congress wants the Postal Service to close 3,500 post offices and lay off 120,000 workers. Those members of Congress, who argue that the nation cannot persevere without the accustomed mail service, seem to be trying to kill it. They say they are intent on creating jobs but seem to be intent on reducing jobs instead. The essential issue is clear. Congress should get out of the way and let management do what it can to put the Post Office on a substantial footing.

  • CONGRESS; SAVE SOCIAL SECURITY
SENIORS AND VETERANS WILL BE HURT BY OBAMA'S BUDGET. SENIORS AND VETERANS HAVE ALREADY SACRAFICED DUE TO THE ECONOMY AND THE BENEFITS THEY EARNED SHOULD BE PRESERVED. SOCIAL SECURITY DID NOT CONTRIBUTE ONE PENNY TO THE DEFICIT.

  • Safe assistant living facilities in Va. for low income seniors
In the Shanandoah and Rockingham County of Va. we have assistant living facilities that don't meet Va. building code and these private places have approx. 25 individuals living in sub-standard conditions that is barbaric, dangerous, and unhealthy for low income seniors that are receiving auxiliary grant from the state. I have petition Governor McDonnell, Senator Mark Warner, and numerous seniors agencies and getting no where with all of them. It seem they are more concern about ridiculous projects than taking care of the most vulnerable people of this country. I need help from lawyers, politicians who will give me some support in making sure these unfit facilities meet Va. building code standards or build new facilities for these people. The people of Va. should be ashamed to have such facilities operating in their state. I come from the poorest state in the US which is Maine and I wish some Virginians would visit the beautiful assistant living place the poor seniors of Maine live in. They are palaces as compare to what they have in Va. The places I visited in Va. you need to be a millionaire in order to live in them. They require a monthly income of $2500.00 per month and up. Who has this kind of income today unless you are wealthy? Also is your organization effective?

  • Senators Warren and Cowan: Do NOT vote in favor of proposed change in CPI for current and future...
Congress will vote on a proposed change to how social security benefits are calculated. Using chained CPI instead of CPI-W will reduce benefits to current and future retirees. Even Paul Ryan has said this will have a very small impact on deficit reduction; however, the impact will be far greater on individual retirees who are dependent on social security. One Republican congressman called it, "a shocking attack on seniors." Contact your senators and don't let this travesty happen.
