• Texas State Senators: Oppose SB1
This week, hundreds rallied and many presented testimony in favor of protecting women's access to safe abortion care. The Texas House did not heed warnings about a return to back-alley abortions; indeed, one woman was abruptly ejected for noting that a member who is an ophthalmologist isn't specially qualified to dictate women's health care decisions. Texas lawmakers should do better than this. The nation is watching. Our state should demonstrate that it respects women's personal decisions and work to ensure women's health. Oppose SB1, the omnibus abortion restriction bill.

  • Stop 20 Week Abortion Ban in MS
The 20 week abortion ban in Mississippi needs to be blocked. Stopped if at all possible. This is an issue of women's health. This is an issue of a woman's right to privacy and the ability to consult with her doctor and significant other. This IS NOT AN ISSUE that should be decided by men who can never get pregnant! For most pregnancies 20 weeks is the point where a doctor can only start to assess the viability of the pregnancy. To ban an abortion before it is even known if the pregnancy is viable is not good medical practice. It is not an issue that men have any right to make for women. This is yet another attack against the health of women of this state. The women of Mississippi are perfectly capable of making their own health decisions and do not need the government of Mississippi making those decisions for them.

  • Tell David Dewhurst to stand with Texas women!
It is important that women all across the great (geographically large) state of Texas have fair access to health care, as determined by their doctor and their own personal preference. It is not fair to restrict clinics and providers when the majority of cases require immediate and local solutions to issues that are difficult enough for women to decide. Politicians should not be involved in reproductive decisions and attempts of Texas Republicans to restrict access to health care to the large majority of Texas women is wrong and improper. Please stand with us in keeping medical decisions between a woman and her doctor.

  • Stand with the Women of Texas: Allow public hearings on SB 1
Senate Bill 1 is designed to tell women what is right for them to do with their own bodies. Women are very capable. No man can tell a woman how to take care of her pregnancy and her health. The bill assumes women are not only monsters, but willing murderers of the fetus in her body. The bill penalizes women - especially the poor - by keeping them from getting the healthcare they need. Stop this bill, because it is wrong for all women. It will cause the unnecessary deaths of women in Texas. Allow public hearings on Senate Bill 1 before voting.

  • Albertsons Grocery Stores: You MUST protect pregnant employees!
Reyna GarcĂa, a 30-year-old woman who works for the California grocery chain Albertsons, lost her child when supervisors ignored multiple letters from her doctor over a period of months stating she had a high risk pregnancy and could not handle heavy lifting. She asked to leave work while in pain, but her request was denied and she continued her heavy lifting duties, afraid of losing her job and her insurance from Albertsons. When she went into labor that night, she found out that her baby was losing fluid and sustaining brain damage. She gave birth two days later, but the baby only lived for a few minutes. Shame on Albertsons. Demand that Albertsons CEO Robert Miller enforce policies that protect any pregnant employee and their baby.
