Gov Christie: Join the states' Coalition for Paris Climate Agreement.New Jersey should join California, Washington, and New York in the Climate Alliance and commit to the Paris Agreement. New Jersey is already heavily impacted by Climate change, with rising temperatures, lower air quality, and beach erosion and damage from strong storms and hurricanes. Our state should be at the forefront, continuing to lead the country in promoting clean energy, environmental protection practices and investing in new jobs. Let's demand a sustainable future for us and our children. Gov: Otter: Join with other states supporting the Paris Climate AgreementLast week, Donald Trump recklessly announced that he will pull the United States out of the Paris Climate Agreement, which has been signed by 195 countries in an effort to stop catastrophic climate change, which is accelerated by carbon pollution. In response, governors from California, New York, and Washington launched a coalition committed to the carbon reduction efforts called for under the Paris Agreement, which has now been joined by a total of 12 states and Puerto Rico. Urge Gov. Otter to enlist Idaho in this new coalition and do everything possible to fight climate change.85 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Butch Otter hasn't agreed to join with other states supporting the Climate Accord

New Mexico must join Paris Accord coalitionSince facts matter we should get them straight. First, the world's climate has been altered by humans and 97% of scientific studies back that up. Second, coal is more expensive than solar (which is the cheapest energy source on the planet) and wind power, and it will die on its own even without solar and wind. Third, more people are employed in clean energy than the coal industry by a wide margin. Fourth, since clean energy is becoming more and more accessible and inexpensive, we don't need to depend so much on fossil fuels for our energy. Another fact that gets buried in all the "fake news" reporting about climate is that there is only limited amount of fossil fuels and even if we could dig them all up, someday we will run out. Do not follow Mr. Trump into this abyss of thoughtlessness and instead listening to the facts. I am concerned for our planet's and our children's future. There are more extreme weather events throughout the world and that is due to the increase in the earth's temperature. The desert areas of the world are expanding and soon the people living in those areas will move where the water is putting more and more of a strain on the water supplies in those areas. I could go on and on but I think this gets the point across.1,976 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by neil kologie

Nebraskans Resisting Climate Change97% of climate scientists recognize that human-accelerated climate change poses a serious environmental, economic and public health risk to all species on the planet. Nebraska will not be isolated from its impact. The University of Nebraska Lincoln's 2014 Climate Change Implications for Nebraska states, "The magnitude and rapidity of the projected changes in climate are unprecedented. The implications of these changes for the health of our planet, and the legacy we will leave to our children, our grandchildren and future generations are of vital concern. Therefore, it is imperative that we develop strategies now to adapt to the multitude of changes we are experiencing and will continue to experience in our climate. This process of adaptation must begin at the local level..." (1) Recognizing the urgency of this situation, we the undersigned urge Governor Pete Ricketts and the Unicameral to publicly pledge to support the Paris Accord, and where practical, to work to exceed its goals for the sake of the future of our children and grandchildren for generations yet to come. South Korean President Moon: Americans support diplomacyTensions are rising on the Korean peninsula, and we’re inching closer to all out war, or worse, a nuclear catastrophe. In recent weeks, North Korea has launched provocative ballistic missiles tests and threatened another nuclear test. In response, the erratic, reckless Trump Administration has ratcheted up tensions and threatened what the President called a “major, major conflict.” To buttress his bluster, the President has sent aircraft carriers, nuclear submarines, and a host of other military forces towards North Korea. Thankfully, despite the deafening drums of war, there is at last a voice for peace. South Koreans just elected a new, progressive president, Moon Jae-in, who campaigned on a pledge to engage in talks with North Korea to freeze and reverse its nuclear program and pursue diplomacy to finally put an end to the conflict. Later this month, President Moon is traveling to Washington to meet President Trump, and we can’t let our best hope for peace be bullied into war. Add your name to let President Moon that the American public supports his efforts for a peaceful resolution to the nuclear crisis with North Korea.111 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Stephen Miles, Win Without War

Zuckerberg: Stop defending the incitement of violenceLouisiana Congressman Clay Higgins posted a message to his Facebook account that openly incites violence against Muslims. The post is still up and a Facebook spokesperson said it does not violate their hate speech policy. [1] Online statements have real-life consequences. A few weeks ago, a man known to post anti-Muslim and anti-Black statements on social media stabbed and killed Anthony Johnson, a 57-year-old Black man. [2] Meanwhile, there's no denying that what Higgins wrote was hate speech deliberately inciting violence. He wrote, "The free world... all of Christendom... is at war with Islamic horror. Not one penny of American treasure should be granted to any nation who harbors these heathen animals. Not a single radicalized Islamic suspect should be granted any measure of quarter. Their intended entry to the American homeland should be summarily denied. Every conceivable measure should be engaged to hunt them down. Hunt them, identify them, and kill them. Kill them all. For the sake of all that is good and righteous. Kill them all." Higgins stands by his statement by saying he wasn't referring to "all Muslims"––Facebook has decided to side with him instead of working to protect an increasingly marginalized population in the current political atmosphere. A person reading this statement could walk away with the idea that violence against Muslims is legitimate. As violent hate crimes against Muslims are on the rise, along with anti-Muslim groups, this type of speech should not be tolerated and doesn't bode well for the future we're headed towards. A congressman openly inciting violence against a group of people––criminalizing them without trial, without cause, and without reason––is unacceptable. For a Facebook spokesperson to defend the use of this incitement, and to keep the post up despite it's grotesque words shows that Zuckerberg needs to do more than just simply say he's against the Muslim Ban or against Trump's policies. We need clear guidelines on how Facebook will deal with violent speech towards groups that are increasingly becoming targets of White Supremacists, of violent hate crimes, and of elected officials that do not have our interests in mind. Facebook must immediately remove Congressman Clay Higgins while preserving the contents of his messages in a digital archive in case they are needed for legal or other purposes in the future.
