This is the first attack on rural America by the Trump Administration. Just weeks ago, the Trump administration attempted to wipe out rural business programs through the appropriations process. I'm starting this petition because as a disabled person and a person who's parents are receiving social security, I feel that these issues are not a privilege but a right for people who have worked all their entire lives. I have worked for over 30 years and I put into social security and medicare. We should help this poor, the sick and our children.

Edwin T. Pratt was an accomplished civil rights leader and the director of the Seattle Urban League. He stood up for school desegregation and fair housing. He moved with his wife and young daughter to Shoreline Washington, a suburb of Seattle, to set an example of how we can all be neighbors. He was assassinated on the doorstep of his home in January of 1969. He was an important person and he had a huge impact on others. The purpose of this petition is to honor Edwin T. Pratt by naming or renaming a Shoreline School District building/school after him. My name is Sarah and I am a third grader in the Shoreline School District. The abrupt termination of the former head of the FBI, James Comey, has raised valid and troubling concerns about the method in which the action took place. An investigation of this magnitude requires a competent , nonaligned individual capable of sifting through evidence in a impartial manner without interference or collusion.

Sugar-sweetened beverages are the main source of added sugar in our diet. It is critical that the funds from San Francisco's Sugary Drinks Distributor Tax go towards programs to prevent obesity, diabetes, tooth decay, and heart disease amongst the city's most vulnerable populations. Recommendations for these funds must happen by and through the 16 member advisory committee. We urge the Mayor to sequester the funds from January-June 2018 to allow the advisory committee to make its recommendations.

Andrew Lack, the new Chairman of NBC News and MSNBC is veering MSNBC to the hard-right, bringing on former Fox News TV hosts, Greta Von Susteren, Megyn Kelly (and rumors are that Hugh Hewitt will be given some sort of weekend talk show!) But that's not far enough for Mr. Lack. He wants to deprive liberals of the few remaining brave, intelligent and enlightened liberal voices left in mainstream media! President Trump unceremoniously fired FBI Director James Comey in a manner that was both humiliating and mean-spirited. By doing so, President Trump has undermined the only ongoing investigation that can shed light on this sad embarrassment that has befallen our country. As reported, last week President Trump fired Comey on the advice of Attorney General Jeff Sessions, another member of the current administration who has been plagued by his own seemingly unscrupulous dealings. I along with many of you have my own personal grievances with Attorney General Sessions, but putting those aside for now, these recent events are unparalleled in recent history. In fact, our country has not faced a situation like this since the early 1970’s and smack of Nixonian tactics. Quite frankly, President Trump’s recent actions have created a constitutional crisis that must be remedied with immediate and deliberate speed. To be clear, Director Comey is certainly not perfect and his performance at the FBI is obviously not without criticism. In fact, Comey’s entry into the recent Presidential election arguably had the effect of swaying the election in Trump’s favor; and influencing the electoral process is certainly not one of the responsibilities of a serving FBI Director. Nevertheless, to argue that President Trump ignominiously dispatched Comey because he was too critical of Clinton is baseless, unfounded and undoubtedly false. The timing of Comey’s firing along is suspect. It’s no coincidence that Comey was fired one day after former Acting Attorney General Sally Yates testified before the Senate. Director Comey was canned after Sally Yates conveyed to the Senate, in no uncertain terms, that she had personally warned the Trump administration that former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn was compromised and was vulnerable to blackmail by Russia. The truth must be revealed, and it’s far time that we follow the facts to finally get to the bottom of Trump’s ties with Russia. Since day one of the Trump administration, House Democrats have time and time again shown a light on Republican hypocrisy and unscrupulousness. It’s time that Republicans address Trump's taxes, Russian entanglements, and more. The Trump Administration has notified Congress of a $2 billion arms deal with the United Arab Emirates. [1] Congress has thirty days to block the sale. This proposed arms deal gives Congress a unique opportunity to pressure the UAE. The UAE has been a key participant in the Saudi-led war in Yemen, which has pushed Yemen to the brink of famine. [2] Indeed, the Washington Post has referred to the threatened attack by the Saudi-led coalition on the crucial Yemeni port of Hodeida as "a planned Emirati offensive." [3] The UN Special Envoy to Yemen has stated, "We are definitely, unequivocally against any military operation" at Hodeida, warning that such an operation would likely push Yemen into full-blown famine by cutting off the supply of food to northern Yemen through Hodeida. [4] If Congress approves the UAE arms deal without insisting that the UAE agree to a ceasefire at Hodeida to protect Yemen from famine, Congress could be signing the death warrants of millions of Yemenis who are in imminent danger of dying from starvation due to the Saudi-led war and blockade on Yemen. Urge Congress to introduce and support a resolution of disapproval against the UAE arms deal unless and until the UAE agrees to a famine-averting ceasefire at Hodeida by signing our petition. The conflict of interest from a person who recused himself and just pledged allegiance to the President over the process he agreed to recuse himself from, proves beyond reasonable doubt that he will circumvent the separation of powers and ignore the Constitution to keep his job, proves Sessions must go.
