• Harvey IL CORRUPTION must be stopped.
Harvey citizens are tired of beingharassed and in many cases assaulted by allies of the current administration and police officers. Threats and intimidation have been used against the citizens for over 10 years. IT'S TIME FOR CHANGE! Mayor Eric Kellogg has exhibit LAWLESS and DETRIMENTAL behavior that has resulted in a 23 million dollar lawsuit last year. Last week that lawsuit went delinquent causing Chicago to seize all accounts related to the water fund as well and surrounding villages are instructed to send payments to Chicago instead of Harvey. The audits have shown that the Mayor and his administration has been fiscally irresponsible and negligent causing an excess of abandoned buildings, dumping, empty lots, bad roads, broken street lights, lack economic development, not to mention the high taxes and water rates. The aforementioned, can be physically seen. Citizen are unsure of what other destruction this administration has caused that cannot be seen by the citizens. Mayor Kellogg has shown his lack of leadership and discernment for the community causing the city to become insolvent. The citizens of this great city are uniting, calling for his resignation. Mayor Eric J Kellogg, resign before you do more damage to the great city of Harvey.

  • Submit your comment to oppose the Dakota Access Pipeline now
President Trump's recent executive actions to push through the pipeline projects of the TransCanada Keystone XL pipeline and the Dakota Access Pipeline is a violation of Standing Rock Sioux Tribal sovereignty and marks the beginning of a full-frontal attack on Mother Earth on behalf of the fossil fuel industry. It's crucial we make our opposition heard. The Department of Army is now accepting public comments as part of the environmental impact statement for the Lake Oahe crossing by the proposed Dakota Access Pipeline—and we have until February 20 to submit our comments in opposition to this pipeline. Sign the petition now to submit your comment. President Trump's executive actions violate the legal and moral sovereign treaty rights of the Lakota, Nakota, and Dakota people and is an aggressive rebuke of more than 300 tribes who stand with Standing Rock in opposition to the Dakota Access Pipeline. With the strength of prayers and people power, water protectors—Native and non-Native—across the country are more than ready to respond with sustained actions to stop the Dakota Access Pipeline and the Keystone XL Pipeline. • Senate Democrats: Walk out and don't go back to work until Muslim ban, refugee freeze are reversed.
This week has been filled with terrible policy after terrible policy. What Trump promised to do on the campaign trail, he's fulfilling through executive actions. There are reports he will: - Follow through on his promise to build a wall along the U.S. and Mexico border—and that U.S. taxpayers or consumers will probably pay for it. - Freeze the U.S. refugee program for 120 days, cut the current refugee quota by more than 50%, and take steps to initiate a "Muslim Ban"—targeting and banning immigration from upward of seven Muslim-majority countries. - Call for a brutal immigration crackdown, including a likely acceleration of mass deportations and an effort to cut funding for sanctuary cities. Amidst all of this, it's been Democratic mayors, attorneys general, and governors leading the way in standing up against these horrific policies. It's time for Senate Democrats to stop treating this like business as usual. These discriminatory, anti-Muslim, bigoted, and xenophobic policies have no place here and we need to know the officials we have elected will stand with the communities Trump is putting in danger. This is only the beginning. Many of these executive orders are Trump's attempt to normalize anti-Muslim and anti-Latino policies so that when he comes back with escalated policies, there won't be a way to stop them either. Muslim registries, deportations, and a repeal of DACA could be on the horizon. Considering Trump's parents are immigrants, that his wife is an immigrant, we know these executive actions are not simply attacks on immigrants—they are attempts to further marginalize communities of color and, specifically, Muslims and Latinos. Tell Senate Democrats it's time to take actions that are reflective of the danger communities of color will face under these policies.

  • We Thank @SenatorDurbin & @SenatorTomUdall for Opposing West Bank Settlements
Illinois Senator Dick Durbin has blocked a Senate resolution that would condemn UN Security Council Resolution 2334 against Israeli settlements in the West Bank. New Mexico Senator Tom Udall has said that if Senator Durbin were to lift his hold on Rubio-Cardin's S. Res. 6, Senator Udall would place his own hold. [1] Thank Senator Durbin and Senator Udall for standing up for peace by signing our petition. • End the offline song limit
For too long Spotify has limited us premium paying customers to listening to only 3,333 songs offline. If we are paying them for the premium subscription to listen to songs offline they should not be limiting us to how many songs we can listen to offline. Us premium subscribers have complained far too long to deaf ears at Spotify and its time to stand and take action against Spotify and tell them we want our voices heard and we deserve better.

  • Tell the Iowa legislature to stop attacks on the rights of public service workers
Anti-worker politicians have filed a bill that will gut Iowa's collective bargaining laws for public sector workers. That means teachers, nurses, firefighters, police officers, and other public workers will have fewer health care benefits, more wage cuts, and no say about safety and working conditions on the job. We’re calling on our legislators to oppose this bill. Now is the time to take a united stand against extremist attacks on our workers. Add your name to the petition calling on the Iowa Legislature to oppose this bill and leave public sector collective bargaining intact.

  • The Democrats need to do better. A lot better.
We're only on day 7 of Trump's administration and he's already taken sweeping action to restrict abortion, attack immigrants, start his plans to ban Muslims, and even silence federal agencies. And how have Democrats responded? By letting Trump's cabinet sail through. Fifteen Senate Democrats voted for Trump's pro-torture CIA pick, Mike Pompeo. And yesterday, two true progressive champions voted in favor of Ben Carson--who has no relevant experience--to run the federal housing agency. This is unacceptable. And it's simply not going to be good enough to protect us from very real threats in the next four years. We as citizens are doing our part. We're marching and protesting in unprecedented numbers. We're calling our congress members. We're speaking out. Why won't the Democrats fight as hard as us? Now--with just days to go before Trump names his nominee for the Supreme Court--is the time to send a clear message: Democrats, we need you to fight harder, starting now. Will you sign the petition?

  • Save traditional public school in New Orleans
There are five remaining traditional public schools in New Orleans. All five of the remaining traditional public schools are high-achieving schools, with veteran teachers and principals. Several are open admissions schools and serve a diverse student body. The Orleans Parish School Board plans to convert these schools to charter schools for no reason other than to finalize the vision of education reformers. Chartering the five remaining traditional public schools will further erode and destroy one of the first truly democratic institutions in our nation: the public school. Charter management organizations will gain control over millions of dollars with little to no direct accountability and oversight by the public. Children and parents stand to lose access to their schools as new charter management organizations have full authority to impose admissions and selection criteria. Teachers and administrators are disposable as well. OPSB has not given a rationale for converting these successful schools to charters other than it is within their purview to do so. In unveiling this plan a week before winter break, they have limited public access and skirted public meetings laws. Please join us in raising your voice to save the remaining five public schools in New Orleans. It is hypocritical for education reformers to celebrate choice by eliminating choice for families and making charter schools the ONLY choice for public education in New Orleans. This move by Orleans Parish School Board and education reformers in New Orleans, to charter all the schools, aligns with the vision and stated commitments of Donald Trump's nominee for Secretary of Education, Betty DeVos, an enemy of public education. Please help us fight for public education in New Orleans and across the state of Louisiana. NO MORE CHARTERS! SAVE TRADITIONAL PUBLIC SCHOOLS! SAY NO TO BETTY DEVOS-STYLE EDUCATION! SAY NO TO PRIVATIZING PUBLIC EDUCATION!

  • Tell Congress: #ProtectOurDemocracy and investigate Russian hacking
On Friday, January 6, the U.S. intelligence community issued a report that Russian intelligence agencies interfered in the 2016 election. This should send a chill down the spines of all Americans -- Democrat, Republican, or Independent. It demands an an independent bipartisan inquiry. Led by Representatives Eric Swalwell and Elijah Cummings, and supported by every single House Democrat, H.R. 356, the Protecting Our Democracy Act, would establish an independent, bipartisan-appointed commission to investigate what happened and how we can secure future elections. The commission would: *get to the bottom of Russia’s interference in the 2016 elections so that Americans understand what really happened; *ensure a depoliticized, comprehensive investigation; and, *work to ensure that this never happens again. Foreign intervention in free and fair elections is unacceptable and a serious threat to our nation. Investigating what happened is an essential effort to safeguard our democracy and restore voter confidence ahead of the 2018 and 2020 elections – but we need your help to ensure every Member of Congress supports this solution to address Russian hacking.
