We as people who are seeking a better way to have a living, since we all work and attend school (high school or college), would like to see all Suffolk County Transit bus hours extended and some buses to be consolidated. • America Stand and Speak for: "The Freedom From Harm Act"
I, Dr. Patricia M. Harris, have started this petition because since 1993 on the steps of an inner-city high school, I saved one student but failed to save another from gun violence. I, too, could have been killed; however, the gunman decided to run instead of shooting me in the back. There isn’t one day of my life that I do not think about the ordeal to the point of furthering my studies as a Violentologist. Our country is worsening and we are in a state of emergency with unnecessary and unwarranted killings due to gun violence. It is clear to many that gun ownership and the lack of its control, the blatant and insensitive hurt, harm, danger and death by those who enforce and embrace laws, take precedent over the brutal, savage, and inhumane treatment, shooting and/or execution of innocent men, women and children. Enough is Enough! Denial that, “No More Needs to Be Done” will only allow violence to continue and fester. Let’s WAKE UP and ignite powerful voices for stricter laws for the possession, use, abuse, control and punishment of gun violence.

  • #TrumpHate from the debate: Tell the RNC and GOP leaders to denounce Trump's extremist views and ...
Major corporations, media entities, political figures across the political spectrum, and even Donald Trump's own business partners have denounced his hateful rhetoric towards immigrants and Latinos, but Reince Priebus, the chairman of the Republican National Committee, and much of the GOP leadership has not. Left unchecked, hateful public debate creates a hostile environment for all immigrants and Latinos—an environment which can result in tragedy. If GOP leaders do not renounce Trump, they are supporting his hateful agenda. RNC Chairman Reince Priebus, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, House Speaker John Boehner, and other GOP leaders and presidential candidates; your support of Donald Trump's hateful agenda and statements targeting Mexicans, immigrants and other Latinos is unacceptable. Hate speech and hateful agendas targeting a group of people—particularly by presidential candidates of major political parties—has real-life consequences. Use your authority and leadership to denounce Trump's extremist views and his hateful rhetoric; and keep hate out of the presidential debate. Use your authority and leadership to denounce Trump's extremist views and his hateful rhetoric; and keep hate out of the presidential debate.

  • Joe Biden: please don't run for president
Like millions of Americans I have lost my home , watched my income drop and a college education for my daughter seems unlikely. All this while the democrats have played defense. I believe Bernie Sanders will beat Hillary in the primary and go on to be the first president in years who will actually lead America into the future. Joe is just another folksy corporate democrat who will not rock the boat just muddy the waters.

  • Tell Tallahassee: Expand Medicaid for Florida Families!
Once again, Florida enrolled more previously-uninsured people through the “Obamacare” federal health insurance exchange than any other state during this year’s enrollment period. In all, over 1.6 million Floridians now have quality health insurance thanks to Obamacare, and it’s making a real difference in the lives of those who went years without seeing a doctor. All Floridians should have access to health coverage, and it’s a shame that our governor and his Republican friends in the Legislature continue to block Medicaid expansion in our state. They are literally putting politics ahead of the health and well-being of Florida families. I’ve been leading the fight to expand Medicaid in Florida, and I hope you’ll join me. Sign the Petition: Tell the Legislature and Governor Scott to accept Medicaid expansion in Florida!

  • Ask Sen. Bates to pass stronger financial disclosure for politicians
The secret money influencing our elections isn't lurking in only Dark Money contributions from wealthy campaign contributors. Turns out it's also hiding in what candidates and elected officials don't report about their finances. To detect possible conflicts of interest the public deserves clear, specific, and relevant information about candidates' and elected officials' finances including income sources and investments. AB 10, authored by Assemblymember Mike Gatto (D-Glendale), improves the current reporting by requiring more specific dollar amounts and extending behest disclosure requirements to one year after leaving office. It also requires more thorough descriptions of business holdings and partners, plus a list of when each financial interest caused abstention from a governmental decision. AB 10 passed the Senate Elections Committee. Now it faces the Senate Appropriations Committee which will vote soon. If they don't pass it, this important bill will die. Because Senator Patricia Bates is the vice chair of the Appropriations Committee, her vote and leadership are vital to passing the bill. Please sign the petition and also ask your friends to sign!
