• Everyone Has the Right to Due Process of Law
Using drones to target people creates fear. It is an act of terrorism. It is our duty to oppose such acts and reduce fear, not to perform such acts and create more fear in the world.

  • Tell the Delaware State Senate to Support Same-Day Registration Today!
Every eligible American should have an equal opportunity to vote, and it should be free, fair and easily accessible. But due to outdated standards and practices, far too many people find themselves excluded from exercising this right. Same-Day Registration (SDR) is a pro-voter reform that fixes this problem and re-orients our democratic systems back towards the people. Senator Margaret Rose Henry is working to expand voting rights in Delaware by sponsoring an SDR bill that will allow eligible Delaware voters to register to vote on Election Day and then immediately cast a ballot. SDR pays numerous dividends. First, it provides an important opportunity to dramatically increase voter registration and electoral participation, as SDR states typically rank among the highest in the nation in voter turnout. Second, SDR remedies inaccurate voter rolls and protects the integrity of the vote, by allowing voters to update their records at all polling locations. Third, SDR is cost-effective, as it reduces the need for paper provisional ballots — ballots that often go uncounted in Delaware. SDR particularly facilitates higher turnout among marginalized communities historically underrepresented in our democracy, including (but not limited to) citizens who are low-income, young people, and people of color. In a 1957 speech titled "Give Us The Ballot," Dr. King made a vivid case for why voting rights are so critical in our society: "So long as I do not firmly and irrevocably possess the right to vote I do not possess myself. I cannot make up my mind — it is made up for me. I cannot live as a democratic citizen, observing the laws I have helped to enact — I can only submit to the edict of others." Tell the Delaware State Senate to adopt a common-sense upgrade to the state’s electoral system, and ensure that all those who are qualified to vote possess the most efficient means to do so.

  • State of Colorado: Stop Workplace Bullying and Mobbing
Workplace bullying is a major problem and significantly affects the lives and health of those affected. It is status blind. Targets of workplace abuse not covered by standard harassment laws supporting protected classes require support. Employers need to take responsibility and provide a healthy working environment. Bullying in the workplace causes the loss of billions from our economy, targets may suffer health harming effects and career damage.

  • Stop Big Run Landfill Permit Renewal
This petition is to "Stop the Permit Renewal for Big Run Landfill" in Boyd County, Kentucky. This landfill is destroying our water, air, environment, and health and welfare of our citizens. The air is filled with hydrogen sulfide gases emanating throughout the county, and it has caused property values to fall, citizens experience increased health symptoms, and its presence with numerous violations has created a nuisance to citizens for years. Our children have a new Boyd County High School located within a mile of the landfill, placing them in a harmful environment, disrupting their education, focusing their attention to measuring air quality, and assaulting them with the gaseous odors causing them to gag at athletic events.

  • Gov Cuomo: End Cash Bail in New York.
On June 6, Bronx resident Kalief Browder committed suicide. Kalief spent three years —from age 16 to 19—on Riker’s Island, and over 400 days in solitary confinement, simply awaiting trial and because his family could not afford $3,000 in cash bail set by the judge. No one should ever be held in jail simply because they are too poor to put up an arbitrary amount set by the courts. Jail should be reserved for people who pose a danger to our communities, or are a flight risk. At 16, Kalief was accused of taking a backpack, and as a high school student with a bright future, certainly posed no risk of flight. Kalief remained jailed simply because his family was poor. Kalief himself told reporters before his suicide that he was “messed up” from his time in jail. Lawyer Paul V. Prestia says the trauma he experienced in jail led to his suicide. Kalief’s story is not unique. In 2013, homeless veteran Jerome Murdough died in an over-heated cell in Riker’s, detained because he couldn’t afford a $2500 cash bail. These cases are becoming too common: unnecessary detention causes damage to the lives of arrested people every day. Jail is meant for the most dangerous of individuals, not a place to house the poor and vulnerable. In American jails today, 6 in 10 people have not been convicted of their charges. Most are there because they can’t afford cash bail— and New York has an especially horrible record that leaves many behind bars for months and years awaiting trial. Public defenders say this is causing many innocent poor people to plead guilty— just to get out of jail. And once you have a conviction on your record, it is harder to get a job—and things can spiral downward from there. Gov Cuomo: You know our bail system is broken, and you have not yet taken action to fix it. End cash bail. New York doesn’t deserve to lose another Kalief Browder. -Cherise Fanno Burdeen of the Pretrial Justice Institute

  • PHILLY CITY COUNCIL: VOTE YES ON BETTER CONDITIONS FOR AIRPORT WORKERS!
People think that airport workers have a good job. But in reality, airport work means low pay, poor treatment and fear of speaking out. Service workers at Philadelphia Airport don’t get treated with the dignity and respect everyone deserves. I know, because I worked there. I was recently fired from my job as a bag handler by PrimeFlight Aviation Services after I publically spoke out for better working conditions. The Philadelphia City Council and the Mayor has the power to make sure big airlines employ responsible contractors that treat workers right and serve passengers well. And there’s a vote coming up this Thursday that can fix this. Please join me in calling on the Philadelphia City Council to vote yes on a bill that will make conditions at the city’s airport safer for workers, end the culture of fear and intimidation and give workers a voice on the job. A vote YES on Responsible Permitting is a vote YES for airport workers like me.

I have wanted to start a business for some time, my friends have tried to save the money to buy a car or a house. It's been nearly impossible to save for retirement, paying down student debt. Sometimes, it feels like it will never get better. It feels like you can just never catch up. Massachusetts needs a raise.

  • Mr Cronin should resign!
At a 201 board meeting, Mr Cronin acted in a very unprofessional way and attacked another board member verbally. He knew he was being recorded and acted this way in front of the BOE, parents and other public members. This type of behavior is unacceptable for our students (per student handbook) and should also be unacceptable for our BOE members. We are asking that the BOE ask Mr Cronin to resign from his position. We cannot trust someone who acts like this to be able to make rational and wise decisions for our children. You can watch what happened at the board meeting here - (copy and paste since it won't let me hyperlink it) http://youtu.be/V4yBypIWdrQ Mr. Cronin starts his attack around 47 min. Please start attending our board meetings and letting them know this kind of behavior is absolutely unacceptable in our district! We are taking this petition to the BOE meeting at the end of June. Please sign and forward to anyone else you know in 201.

  • Save sacred Apache land! Repeal Sec. 3003 of H.R. 3979
Not only is this rider of the 2015 National Defense Authorization Act (signed into law as Public Law 113-291 by President Obama on 12/19/14) an insidious affront to (already besieged) tribal sovereignty, but it is a classic case of congressional corruption: Rio Tinto (Resolution Mining's parent company) affiliates have been McCain campaign contributors, and Senator Flake was formerly a paid lobbyist for Rio Tinto. Even the local miners' group opposes the land swap because it won’t help the local people or economy. Rio Tinto has been called out in the past for environmental devastation (info courtesy of Lydia Millet of the NYT: http://nyti.ms/1M1iMhi). This sacred land has been used by the Apache people for countless generations for coming-of-age ceremonies and gathering traditional foods. The Apache people have been hosting a protest on the land for the past several months. Let's support them in their efforts to save their land! Repeal Sec. 3003 of H.R. 3979!

  • Help keep the Mencia's family together!
Fredy Mencia was scheduled to be deported this Thursday June 25th, 2015. Through our collective efforts we have temporarily halted Fredy's deportation until September 15th. He is a father of three small U.S citizen children, has no criminal record, and is an active member of our community and a local church leader. Fredy is exactly the kind of person that should not be deported under president Obama’s new deportation guidelines. Please help us keep this family together.

  • Petition to Dissolve Western Elmore County Recreation District
Mountain Home has the potential to offer extensive recreation that promotes healthy living, keeps kids off the street, and encourages community togetherness with the money that has been collected over the years. Waiting longer could only mean there will be more money wasted on salaries, surveys, outrageously priced office supplies, and more. We have a chance to change lives of many by dissolving this Recreation District now and allotting the money to the "public recreation purposes within the County." Please stand with us! Action Petitioned For: We the undersigned are concerned citizens who urge our leaders to act now to dissolve the Western Elmore County Recreation District.
