Raise Georgia Minimum WageMinimum wage in Georgia is barely on par with the federal minimum wage. Both are $7.25. Georgia is paying their workers $7.25 an hour, which is definitely not high enough, as it is the lowest minimum wage of all of the states. The minimum wage is required to be equal to or greater than federal minimum wage, so Georgia is giving their citizens the bare minimum. Assuming each person works 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, and takes 1 week of unpaid vacation each year, that salary totals only about $30,000 a year. BUT, most jobs don't offer that much work time, and only will give a total of $13,000-$18,000 per year.70 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Sameer Sinha

End Childhood Obesity in the U.S.I never knew how much sugar could be hurting my ability to lose weight and maintain a healthy weight. I've been overweight for 3 years, and I'm only now starting to see results in weight loss after paying attention to sugar content and processed foods with unnecessary sugar products in them. It's long past due to hold big food companies accountable for their role in the epidemic of childhood obesity, and to hold those in office accountable for supporting big food in return for monetary payouts.14 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Katherine Buchanan

Allow Backyard Chickens within Ogden city limitsI believe this ban has more to do with race than anything else. As Ogden continues to grow and attract families that care about local food and sustainability this ban needs to be overturned to allow those of us citizens who wish to own a few hens in our yards to do so. http://indieogdenutah.com/why-no-love-for-chickens-in-ogden/58 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Lindsay Sledge

End the ban on MMJ facilities within Malheur County, OregonSB 1531 was a rushed bill enacted after Oregon legalized medical marijuana facilities in 2014. It was a ridiculous bill to begin with, but it became null and void on May 1, 2015. Malheur County and its elected officials are breaking the law and many are being negatively impacted to the point of constant pain, mental anguish and even long-term hospitalization. Malheur County is in trouble for many reasons...this is merely the tip of the iceberg.226 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Stormy Ray

Tell the Presidential Candidates - "End Mass Incarceration in the United States"This petition will be delivered to all declared candidates for President. Here are some basic facts about the rate of incarceration in the United States: +The incarceration rate of the United States of America was the highest in the world, at 716 per 100,000 of the national population. +While the United States represents about 4.4 percent of the world's population, it houses around 22 percent of the world's prisoners. +The U.S. incarcerates more people than any other nation - 2,217,000 people. +African Americans constitute nearly 1 million of the total incarcerated population, and have nearly six times the incarceration rate of whites. +A black male born in 1991 has a 29% chance of spending time in prison at some point in his life. +One out of nine African American men will be incarcerated between the ages of 20 and 34. +These numbers would be even higher if we included military facilities, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facilities, facilities contracted by the U.S. Marshals Service, jails in Indian country, or juvenile facilities.460 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Michael Morrill

The Freddie Gray Law - Assess, Treat, and Safely TransportI am a 68-year-old physician in Maryland. In 1976 as a Johns Hopkins neurology resident at Baltimore City Hospitals, we heard rumors about police arresting uncooperative and usually inebriated persons, handcuffing their hands behind their backs and then playing "Watch Out For The Dog". I did nothing about it then. Now 38 years later after at least 3 deaths, including that of Freddie Gray 2 weeks ago, we should take steps nationwide to assure that ALL State and Local Police secure those they take into custody to avoid potentially fatal injury during transport.
