• Stop The Deportation of LGBTQ Activist Sulma!
Sulma did everything she was supposed to (and more!) when she arrived in Austin, Texas six years ago. She began the process of applying for asylum, learned English and applied for work authorization. Years later, she opened up her own food truck business with her partner and applied for all the necessary permits. They had just paid 2 months rent on a space to park the truck when Sulma went in for a routine ICE appointment, something she had been doing every 3 months for years. But this time, rather than signing her name and leaving, ICE told her that her lawyer had not filed some paperwork correctly. With her car still parked outside, and her partner and business waiting for her, she was taken into ICE custody and eventually transferred to Eloy Detention Center in Arizona. Thanks to the community, she was released back to her family in Austin, Texas--- but the nightmare is not over as ICE wants to remove her this Thursday!

  • Bring Back The Protecting Tenants In Foreclosure Act
My husband and I are tenants who have suffered a domino effect of bad consequences due to renting a foreclosed home. It is our greatest hope that others in our situation will not have to suffer as we currently are. Currently there is a big scam going on where people are pretending to be property managers and agents for the new owners of foreclosed homes to extort money from unsuspecting tenants. Please sign and share this petition to stop abuse of tenants and please bring back the Protecting Tenants In Foreclosure Act . Thanks in advance. ~ Rev. Susan Sabella-Marsh

  • Who is excluded from Public Service Loan Forgiveness? (Many people!)
I have been a public school teacher for 16 years. I have dutifully paid my student loan each month for 14 years ( I had to defer for two years because my income was too low). My peers and I have been stuck in a legislative purgatory in which the patchwork of student loan bills that have been passed only address an exclusive number of borrowers. Even after 16 years of service and at the top of my pay scale, I still qualify for an income sensitive repayment plan. We need meaningful and inclusive change!

  • Restrict the use of bee-killing pesticides in San Francisco
Bees are a critical part of our agriculture. Without bees, we would only eat black tea and brown bread. They are important to the development of our food and life. Without them, we wouldn't survive.

  • Please help save bees in North Carolina!
I know many people dislike bees because they are allergic or they do not like to get stung; none of us do. But did you know that bees, especially honeybees, help with our survival? They carry pollen to what we need to eat, as well as what the animals that provide us with meat need to eat. Sadly, 90% of wild bees have died out! Albert Einstein said, "If honeybees become extinct, human society will follow in four years." Does that not make you think? • Hong Kong: Stop illegal trade to save the vaquita
There are only 97 vaquita porpoises left in the world. The vaquita are being caught and drowned by fishermen chasing the endangered totoaba fish. The totoaba are prized in China for their swim bladders, and we have evidence that they are being smuggled right now from Mexico into Hong Kong. The Mexican government already placed a two-year ban on destructive gillnet fishing in the vaquita's home, and even the United States has stepped up efforts to stop the illegal trade. But inaction in Hong Kong threatens this progress. Take action now. Tell Hong Kong Chief Executive CY Leung to stop this before it's too late!

  • Restrict the use of Bee-Killing pesticides
As a child we always had a garden. Vegetables of all kinds were always on my dinner table. I am worried about the future of my children, their children, and children all over the world if the bees keep disappearing.

  • VOTE NO ON FAST TRACK FOR TPP
I expect transparency regarding something as far reaching as this trade agreement. For this reason, I believe that it should have a full hearing in Congress. Fast Tracking it will not allow this to happen and will effectively let it pass without the public, or even the Congress, to have access to the full text of the trade agreement.

  • Josh Duggar should be registered on the National Sex Offender Registry
When someone with a history of targeting underage girls freely admits to the assaults, they should be forced to register just as anyone convicted of a sexual crime would. People have a right to know that this predator is in their midst, and take actions to shield their children from him.

  • Moratorium on tasing unarmed suspects!
This petition is about saving lives and allowing suspects their right to the judicial system process where they are innocent until proven guilty. These protocols create a team approach between community and law enforcement focused on building trust and maintains safety for everyone! Let's change how law enforcement engages unarmed suspects so everyone lives through it!

  • When the People petition Government, Government should honor it!
This petition is being started to remind the Congress of the United States of America that when we petition it, the Executive Branch or the Judicial Branch of Government, that our petition is honored as the First Amendment to our U.S. Constitution so dictates. Too many times our petitions go unanswered, or sometimes altogether ignored by Government - at Every Level. And when Government FAILS, willfully or otherwise, we should call them on it - And remind them why they serve at our elected pleasure. Thank you for your support and interests. Please kindly share this petition with all in your circles... "..prohibiting the petitioning for a governmental redress of grievances." - 1st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, partial quotation
