• Let's MOVE ON to REAL Progressive politics!
I have been a US Senate candidate as a Democrat and know that trying to unseat a fake progressive is an almost impossible task because of Party politics. This country needs a viable, pleasantly aggressive progressive to run for U.S. President. We have potential choices. Senator Sanders is an Independent but caucuses with Democrats and is about as left as they get for the most part. Governor O'Malley is a reasonably left, progressive choice as well. This petition is about changing the conversation from the media and Party picking our candidates and telling us to pick the 'shoe-in', vs we the people picking who runs the White House in the next 4 years. Lets see if MoveOn will help or hinder here. I hope you sign this in droves. I encourage you to help make this petition successful. Change the conversation.

  • CCSF needs a VMD curriculum update!
We are asking for City College of San Francisco (CCSF) & the Visual Media Design (VMD) department to upgrade the curriculum for the Multimedia Program - specifically Front End Web Design, User Experience (UX)/Interaction Design and Mobile Design programs so graduates can be job-ready in the current, competitive job market. I am a student at CCSF and I am attempting to change careers into the local tech industry. After taking many classes at CCSF in the VMD department and then talking to industry professionals, I realized I am not able to meet their standards for hire yet. I want to have the curriculum updated to meet the demands of the changing job market. We need classes such as; • Analytics/Quantitative Research (and Advanced), • UX 2/Advanced UX, • UX Tools/Software, • Advanced Social Media, • Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), • User Interface (UI), • Swift, • Coding for Design, • Qualitative Research, • Rapid Prototyping (Analog and Digital), • Storytelling Using Animation for Interfaces, • Ethnographic Studies for UX, • Designing for Accessibility, • Designing for Internationalization and Localization.

  • Ensure Educational Equality in the U.S.
Access to educational equality should be mandatory in the United States. Students should not be assessed by their ability to perform on a standardized test and should rather be measured by their performance throughout the year. Teacher's ability to teach should not be determined by a child's ability to perform on one test. By signing this petition, you help teachers, students, and parents focus on a child's overall success and assist with the promotion of educational equality.

  • Help Save First Five School Readiness Program
The parents of the School Readiness program in Sutter County are concerned about the Children and Families Commission not making a decision based on what parents want with First Five Money. We are concerned with the commission not following the bi-laws by not letting the commission vote on the discussion to continue to fund School Readiness.

  • Arrested for washing his car while brown: Free Erick Rodriguez, A DACAmented dreamer!
Erick Rodriguez (A#204822213) is a DACAmented immigrant youth leader that is currently in ICE custody. On Saturday, Erick and his brother were simply washing their car when a policeman pulled up to them and claimed that they looked suspicious. After passing breathalyzers, they were handcuffed. Because of the boys’ race, the police tried to connect certain personal items found in the car with illicit activities, which were unfounded and incorrect. After being questioned extensively, the brothers asked for a lawyer. Later, they were taken to Washington County Detention Center. Erick’s brother was released, but Erick remains in ICE custody and is awaiting transfer to Louisiana where he can be deported any time. Erick graduated from Fayetteville High School and has been a longtime volunteer in both his church and his community. He is currently a participant in the Arkansas United Community Coalition’s leadership development program, Change Agents. Erick helps his mother with household expenses and taking care of his younger siblings. If he is deported, his family would face extreme economic hardship. In the past, Erick felt lost and inadequate due to his inability to be able to work legally. But DACA has made all of the difference in his life and he’s been able to find gainful employment. We still believe that we have the possibility of keeping this family together. Please sign this petition to push for the release of Erick under the stay of removal! Support Erick and his family as they tell ICE to stop collaborating with racial profiling. Free Erick Rodriguez!

  • Get Sheba home
The Humane Society took my dad's dog after he died and won't release her. I'm out of state but have transport ready to bring her home. But they say - no I must adopt her and pay everything my father did years ago. They say he signed a contract that if he could no longer care for her she would be brought back. But we want to raise her as were my dads wishes! Shouldn't they want Sheba to be with her owner's family and have a great home with ones that love her!!??

  • Bring outsourced Louisiana jobs for the visually impaired back to our state
Lighthouse Louisiana has been serving the visually impaired in Louisiana for 100 years. They provide support, counseling, training, and jobs for the visually impaired as well as those who have hearing disabilities. The jobs they provide allow those with disabilities the opportunity to be self-sufficient, and they provide a livable wage to those they employ. The disabled community is the most underrepresented In the job force. By sending these jobs to Asia, you are sending a message to the disabled community, as well as the country at large, that we do NOT take care of our own. The people who work there work so they do not have to rely on Government assistance. If you make it impossible for those with disabilities to provide for themselves, it will ultimately be the American taxpayer who will foot that bill. I am legally blind, and the support, love and guidance I have received from Lighthouse has made it possible for me to go back to school, to adapt and to succeed. The assistance they provided to me in the form of assessments, assistive technologies and overall support has made this possible. Shame on those in Congress and Mr. Obama FOR LETTING THIS HAPPEN. "A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Ghandi "...the moral test of government is how that government treats those who are in the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the elderly; those who are in the shadows of life; the sick, the needy and the handicapped. " ~ Last Speech of Hubert H. Humphrey

  • Help the Animals at Six Flags in Vallejo, California Be Sent To Sanctuaries
I started this petition because after seeing the documentary Blackfish, and hearing about the abuse to the animals at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, I became inspired about wanting to help these defenseless animals. Because I live five minutes from Six Flags, I am constantly reminded of the horrors that are inflicted upon these beautiful creatures.

  • Lower the qualifications for SNAP in San Francisco
To qualify for SNAP in San Francisco, a family of one can make no more than $1,265 a month, and for that will only receive a maximum benefit of $194 in SNAP. To qualify you have to be considered in poverty, shouldn't SNAP be a preventative to poverty instead of a last resort? San Francisco has a very high cost of living and there are plenty of people who need public food assistance who earn more money than the maximum allowed a month to qualify for SNAP.
