• Keep Concealed Weapon Permit on the Books
Legitimate reasons to carry a concealed weapon exist, but it seems common sense to require a permit to do so.

  • For Our Health's Sake: Ban Fracking in Pennsylvania
Despite the fracking industry's assurances that their processes are completely safe, fracking fluid is now showing up in drinking water in Bradford County, Pennsylvania. Fracking companies can only be trusted to protect their bottom line. The health of our citizens should ALWAYS take precedence over corporate profits. It's time our legislators acted accordingly.

  • HO'OPAU HO'OPILI
We are a small island that depends too much on imported food when we have prime agricultural-land that can provide us fresh and locally-grown fruits and vegetables, affording our Island O'ahu to be self-sustainable! Also, we're against the obvious effects of traffic and pollution with this development because with 11,000 plus homes comes tens of thousands of more cars! "#CARmageddon" EVERYDAY!

  • Save Wisconsin's Family Medical Leave Act
If Wisconsin's current Family Medical Leave Act was changed to federal law: • Individuals would NOT be able to care for parent-in-law or domestic partner • Part time employees working between 20-26 hours per week would NOT be covered • Employees of business under 50 spread out over the state would NOT be covered • Employees would NOT be able to choose whether they want to use their accrued time while on leave. Let's tell Wisconsin legislators that our FMLA law must be protected and kept in tact!

  • Healthcare Dollars Waiting for Louisiana!
As a Family Practice Physician in Louisiana who accepts Obamacare, I am seeing a lot of new patients with serious medical problems who have had no affordable access to ANY healthcare for years. They people truly need a doctor! And those I am seeing have ACA insurance via private, for-profit, insurance companies. There are still a lot of people who could have better access to needed care, with no increased cost to the state, had our Gov. not refused increased federal help! It's okay to want to make a point, no matter how heartless, but do not even think of doing such a callous thing at the expense of the lives and health of the people who live in LA! Please sign if you agree!

  • Texas Caregivers Deserve Decent Living Wages And Benefits
Texas has one of the lowest rates of pay in the Nation for Personal Care Attendants (PCAs) who provide vital daily care services to people with disabling conditions. In addition, these caregivers do not receive healthcare benefits or paid time off. The average salary of a PCA in Texas is $7.80/hour, leaving those who need assistance at a loss to hire dependable, qualified workers. It also leads to a high rate of worker turnover. Without the help of PCAs, thousands of people with disabilities, like me, cannot get out of bed everyday and actively contribute to the communities in which we live. We work. We pay taxes. We support our State's economy. And WE VOTE! So, don't you think that we deserve a better life for our employees? Please sign this if you think that we do.

  • State's Attorney Mosby: Drop the charges against all protesters
The people of Baltimore have had enough. Over just the last 4 years, police have killed 109 people in the city. And in 2014, 100% of the people killed by Baltimore police were Black. Baltimore — like most cities in America — has a long and ongoing history of violent, discriminatory and illegal policing. Following the tragic police killing of 25-year-old Freddie Gray the people of Baltimore rose up and moved State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby to charge all 6 officers who killed Freddie Gray. But while the police who killed Gray are out of jail, hundreds of protesters languish in overcrowded, inhumane jail conditions facing unjust criminal charges and outrageous bail. Urge State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby to drop the charges against all protesters.

  • Extend and Improve Washington's Renewable Energy Cost Recovery Program
Established in 2005, the Washington Renewable Energy Cost Recovery Program (CRP) provides an annual payment for electricity from qualifying wind and solar electric systems – as currently enacted – until June 2020. However, this 5 year window is not sufficient so it is critical that legislation be enacted this session to extend and improve the incentive program to continue building Washington's local renewable energy infrastructure. Distributed wind, solar and other local renewable energy technologies are important emerging sources of distributed generation, jobs, and wealth for Washingtonians. Please contact your legislators and ask them to strengthen and extend the CRP! Note: If appropriate, please include your company name in the petition sign-on's comment field.

  • 72 Caton Place: Petition for Environmental Impact Assessment
We are deeply concerned about possible developments and zoning changes at 72 Caton Place. We are a small neighborhood surrounded by 4 major traffic arteries critical to the area, and we are at risk to head into a level of density unparalleled in our part of Brooklyn. We are trying to preserve a singular cultural institution (Kensington Stables) and welcome a vitally important new school with safe streets and traffic areas. We have yet to tackle the built-in challenges: an inadequate sewage system, narrow streets, and a large influx of new residents in 22 Caton and The Kestrel. This is a critical moment where we have an opportunity to preserve a neighborhood. Kensington Stables: This Brooklyn institution, which represents the diversity of culture and architecture in our neighborhood, could be disastrously impacted by increased traffic on Caton Place — particularly on the block between Coney Island Avenue and East 8th Street. Riders will have no safe area to mount the horses, no place for pony rides and dangerously difficult access to the bridal paths. Infrastructure: East 8th Street, an essential thru street in the neighborhood, is currently virtually impassable to 2 way traffic. We also question whether the existing sewer system is adequate for the increasing population. Rapid Density Ramp: PS437, 22 Caton Place and the Kestrel have not yet even been factored into the local equation. They represent massive changes to this neighborhood. Cars are already double-parked on busy Coney Island Avenue weekday mornings and afternoons outside the International Baptist Church, and on Coney Island Avenue for Brooklyn College Academy High School. On the weekends, cars are parked on sidewalks on Caton Place while volunteers manage traffic into and out of church parking lots. Meanwhile AYSO (American Youth Soccer Organization) families circle the block looking for parking for the games at the parade grounds. This is all before the PS 437 opens, and 22 Caton and the Kestrel become fully occupied.

  • Protect Youth Jobs in Illinois
Bikes N' Roses is a non-profit, youth-led bicycle collaborative that provides mentorship and sorely needed jobs for under-served young people while promoting biking in our communities of Albany Park and Belmont-Cragin, some of America's most diverse neighborhoods. We were promised $276,000 in funding but when Governor Rauner took office, we were forced to shut down most of our operation. With just a few hours notice, we had to lay off 50 youth from 15 worksites, including the Bikes N' Roses shop and a local foster home. "Even though we lost all the money, we're still here. I'm never going to lose hope for the shop. I've put in effort and time, and this is my home." -Jassmyn Venegas, Roosevelt High School Senior Our youth are incredibly resilient. Many have stayed on as volunteers and they have resolved to do a 211 mile, 3 day bike ride to Springfield to help keep the doors open and advocate for programs like ours across the state. They'll ride 70 miles a day—partnering with community organizations, meeting elected officials, and elevating the youth voice along the way—before arriving in the capital to urge our legislators to pass a responsible budget that doesn't shut out Illinois' youth. • Mayor Berry: 90% pay is not equal pay for women
Mayor Berry says he passed his"equal pay for women in ABQ" ordinance because “it is time we start incentivizing the result we want." But, it rewards companies who agree to "pay women at least within 10 percent of what they pay men in comparable jobs."
