Dale Reicks, a factory hog producer from Iowa, has applied for a preliminary application for a permit to operate a CAFO with 26,000 hogs in the Fish Creek Watershed, less than 8 miles upstream from Lake Superior. The Ashland Municipal Water Utility is 3 nautical miles from the junction of Fish Creek and Lake Superior. Given the soil type, quantity of manure the Reicks CAFO will produce and the self-regulatory nature of the CAFO industry, it's likely that Fish Creek and the Chequamegon Bay will see increased nutrients, pathogens and agricultural run-off in the water. The threats to public health and welfare that CAFOs pose to communities are numerous (antibiotic resistant bacteria, pathogens in the manure, and disease such as asthma, decreased lung function, and cardiovascular ailments) but the potential threat to city with 8,000 residents water supply requires caution. A 2 year moratorium will allow Bayfield County the time it needs to research and develop regulations that will protect and preserve our environment and communities.

Robyn was the top producing Tennis Service Representative in Texas, received exemplary annual reviews, and received stellar reviews on customer surveys. Robyn's dismissal will leave a void in the tennis community in which she served, and she needs to know how much she is appreciated. USTA Texas needs to be aware of the void her absence will leave.

According to the CDC, more than 2 million Americans now get sick from antibiotic-resistant infections each year, and 23,000 people die. The misuse of antibiotics in livestock and poultry operations, which routinely mix huge quantities of antibiotics into the feed they give healthy animals, is one major reason these drugs are losing effectiveness. McDonald’s has tremendous power to change the food market and put an end to this dangerous practice.

The Child Care Assistance Program budget for the current fiscal year is underfunded by almost $300 million. For the program to function at its current level, Illinois needs to identify revenue necessary to pass a supplemental budget to fully fund CCAP through the end of this fiscal year.

We are petitioning the Confectionery Buyers at all of the UK Supermarkets to delist Hershey Chocolate Bars, Hershey Kisses, Reese's, all Reese's Cereals, Chocolate Spreads and all other Hershey products. Stop selling Hershey, throw them out of the UK. Until Hershey agrees to allow the sale of UK Cadbury bars in the USA, then let's make sure Hershey is NOT sold in the UK.
