• Bay County Residents Against The Religous Freedom Restoration Act
The Religious Freedom Restoration Act states that a provider's " religious reasons" could prevent a person in need from receiving medical help, housing, or a driver's license. This Act is discriminatory and unkind. We the people of Michigan in Bay County who have signed this petition do not support this Act.

  • Pardon Edward Snowden. He should be cleared of all charges.
I have personally been affected by the illegal overreaching of the NSA. We have ALL been affected! Our privacy has been invaded. I am one voice in a growing chorus of outraged Americans.

  • Help Stop Sex Trafficking!
In the United States, human trafficking is an increasing problem. This criminal enterprise includes citizens of the United States, many of them children, who are forced into prostitution, and foreigners brought into the country, often under false pretenses, who are coerced into forced labor or commercial sexual exploitation.

  • Laws to Protect unarmed Black Men from being killed by law enforcement officers.
Based on the number of Black Males being killed by Officers of the Law without any indictments or prosecution of these Officers. There is an apparent lack of laws to protect this segment of the population as is evident in the recent killings of Michael Brown, Eric Garner and so many others. In a Nation of Laws we need a Federal Law to protect these innocent victims from being killed before even getting to a hearing.

  • Prosecute Those committing American War Crimes in the treatment of prisoners
There is simply no possibility that the American government willact on this issue, and the CIA and officials in the Bush Administration violated the values that millions of Americans cherish, which Eric Holder refuses to prosecute.. The International Court of Justice is established as the proper Court to hear these kind of issues where a national government cannot and will not hold its own citizens accountable for their crimes. The Senate Report provides graphic and massive evidence of violations of the Geneva Conventions against torture and prisoner abuse, and there is clearly "probable Cause" to believe that high crimes were committed and that the perpetrators are being protected by current and past U.S.administrations who refuse to prosecute those involved.

  • Veto the Welfare Drug Testing Bill
We only seem to have wars on the poor: Detroit with water, 1/3 of our children live dependent on some kind of assistance for most of their meals, and now drug testing? Let's INVEST in our poor and/or sick, instead of taking away the little they already have. Governor Synder and MI legislature-do not put into law something that not only costs in the long run, not only is an invasion of privacy, but at the end of the day, helps no one-the poor to the elite alike.

  • Stop Republicans Now!
We must not allow Republicans to take the country back to the economic environment and banking practices that led to the 2008 recession. If MoveOn seeks to convince Senator Warren to run for the Presidency, the organization should take immediate steps to provide loud and visible support.

  • Stand against H.R.347
I am making this petition because I believe it is morally and tactically unwise for the government increase the suspicions of the people it is meant to protect and serve. If the government you has nothing to hide, it has no reason to fear its citizens. We only want truth. Is that something the government should have to defend itself against? The greatest law is - Love thy God. The second is Love thy neighbor. Are we not all each other's brothers keepers to atone and answer for each other, to help each other up? Preventing protests near government buildings, is not helpful and after recent events at Ferguson and other places, this only will inspire hostility in the people toward government authority. Please hear me out. God bless you all.

  • Don't move the Utah State Prison. It's a waste of taxpayer money.
I felt ambivalent about the Prison being built somewhere else, until they decided they want to build it within a half a mile from my house. I started researching the reasons and the cost of moving the prison. It is so expensive to rebuild the prison elsewhere, and lawmakers don't have a good understanding of the economic development of other cities. Draper is the only city that will benefit from the prison moving locations. Taxpayers will NOT recoup the cost of moving the prison by the tax revenue that could potentially come from the Draper land. Also, the cities that could potentially get the prison do not want it and do not choose it. The city of Draper chose to have the prison in their community.

  • South Carolina State Health Insurance to Cover ALL of Women's BASIC Health
I am a teacher, and like most teachers, a woman who has the South Carolina State Health Plan. Women are not being given the coverage we need/deserve for our annual visit to the gynecologist. Instead, we have to pay out of pocket $135 or more. The state health insurance plan does not cover a basic visit, let alone the additional services of checking for HPV, STD's, etc. This is an issue of basic human rights, which is sickening to me and needs to be changed ASAP.

  • Tell Sen. McKoon to support religious freedom, not discrimination
The city council of Kennesaw has rejected a request from a neighborhood Islamic group for the right to rent a local retail space for worship service. McKoon’s silence on this issue speaks volumes about the true intentions of his so-called “religious freedom” bill, which is really designed to promote discrimination. "Religious pluralism is one of the foundation stones of this country,” McKoon says. “Sending a message that people of every faith are welcome in this state, and don't have to worry about government trampling their right to free exercise, is something we should want to champion.” Despite being a clear case of local government trampling on one group’s freedom to express their religion, the council’s decision was celebrated by opponents of the mosque, including protestors. Demonstrators held signs that read “Ban Islam” and “Islam wants no peace!” One resident addressed the Muslim group in a public meeting by saying, “We’re scared of you!” Now, Sen. McKoon has the chance to add his voice to this fight, but, so far, hasn’t said a word. The council silently denied the community’s request in a 4-1 vote, claiming they don’t allow religious organizations to rent retail space; however, as recently as July 2014, the council unanimously approved the use of a large retail space by a Pentecostal church. Only one council member, Cris Eaton-Welsh, voted in favor of the motion. “This is 100 percent, bar none, a First Amendment issue,” says Eaton-Welsh, who describes herself as “politically conservative” Catholic. “They have the right to assemble. I don’t understand their religion, but they have the right to do this.” This is clearly a case of religious discrimination. Tell McKoon to take a stand for the Islamic community in Kennesaw by publicly supporting religious expression for Georgians of all faiths.

  • Gov. Quinn - Please Stop Frackquakes In Southern IL
The risk of frackquakes is well known and proven. The scientists know less about frackquakes in the active earthquake zones - many of them have recommended that active seismic zones be placed off limits to fracking and disposal of waste water. Springfield is not listening but maybe Gov. Quinn, as he exits the office, will be moved to act. Injection-Induced Earthquakes, William L. Ellsworth Earthquakes with magnitude (M) ≥ 3 in the U.S. midcontinent, 1967–2012. After decades of a steady earthquake rate (average of 21 events/year), activity increased starting in 2001 and peaked at 188 earthquakes in 2011. Human-induced earthquakes are suspected to be partially responsible for the increase. http://www.sciencemag.org/content/341/6142/1225942.short These small central U.S. quakes have been occurring near sites of hydraulic fracturing, or fracking. http://mrges.com/news/ESNews/scinews/files/fracking-waste-and-quakes.pdf Fracking Industrialization And Induced Earthquakes, Brent Ritzel http://fullerfuture.files.wordpress.com/2013/12/frackingindustrializationandinducedearthquakes-12-2-13.pdf
