Many of the people I know including myself have talked about how much easier it would be to go to school in the morning if it where just an hour or so later. That little amount of time can make a big difference. Personally I've had occasions where it almost seems impossible to get out of bed that early when its still dark out. Starting school can give students more sleep, more time in the morning and all around a better start to their day.

In September, Gov. McAuliffe announced his approval of a plan to allow Dominion Resources to build a new natural gas pipeline originating in the West Virginia gas fields, through Virginia, and into North Carolina. Dominion's proposed pipeline is the wrong energy choice for Virginia. It will negatively impact the agricultural, cultural, and natural resources in the region, especially water. It will impact valued public lands, among the most significant and unique in the East, that are relied on by millions for public drinking water as well as for outdoor recreation. Finally, through gas transport and combustion, it will expand greenhouse emissions from methane, eighty times more potent than carbon as a heat-trapping gas, and continue to fuel climate change. 

I hope you will join us in calling on the Governor to reconsider his endorsement of this destructive project.

This petition is to let the city council of Mountain View that they have community support for raising the minimum wage to $15 per hour. The cost of living in Silicon Valley has increased tremendously. This has negatively impacted low wage workers. Income inequality is severe in Silicon Valley: high tech wages and profits are skyrocketing while low tech workers with low wages endure lower quality of life due to the high cost of living.

We the below signed individuals are opposed to the amendment to Section 23-29-07 of the North Dakota Century Code control eliminating Subsections 2 and 3. As citizens of North Dakota we feel final say should stay at the County level. When permitting an oilfield waste landfill many issues need to be taken into consideration, such as setbacks from homes and businesses, the effect on values of adjacent lands and proposed development of adjacent lands, not just contamination! State officials attempting to take away the rights of local individuals is unacceptable.

The Trinity Parkway tollroad, a nine-mile urban highway through the heart of Dallas, would have a minimal impact on congestion while detracting from popular, ongoing efforts to make downtown Dallas an attractive place to live and work. Tell Dallas City Council to reject this wasteful highway boondoggle project and invest more efficiently in maintenance and other modes of transportation that would make Dallas an even better place to live.

I have daughters and granddaughters and I don't want any avenues closed to them because they are female -- which is what Joni Ernst tried to do with her "personhood" legislation!

It isn't hard to show compassion to the innocent monkeys that are taken out of their native habitat solely to be abused in medical research facilities. The more this is voiced, the more monkeys can be saved from a horrible life and slow, painful death.

Open an account or accept a credit or debit card from most banks, and -- like it or not -- you surrender your right to go to court if you are ever overcharged or treated unfairly. Buried deep in the fine print of the customer agreement is a forced-arbitration clause that requires you to plead your case before a private, secretive tribunal chosen for you by the bank. It's a rigged game. Arbitrators don’t have to abide by the law, their decisions are almost impossible to appeal, and they know they’re unlikely to be re-hired if they make a habit of giving consumers a fair shake. One more thing the banks really like about this system: each wronged consumer must act alone, even if hundreds or thousands of others have been harmed by the same pattern of misconduct. (And, unlike the court system, any evidence of misconduct uncovered or alleged in the arbitration is kept secret from the public.) Tell the big banks to end forced arbitration now.

I am starting this petition to help all of the medical patients in need of the medicinal value of marijuana, like chemotherapy patients and people with other illnesses.

Killer Whales are amazing animals and they should not be in tanks with no room to swim and they need to be free. Killer Whales are normally in a pod of 30-40 whales and they are all related. In captivity there is about 3 or 4 whales in a tank not related to each other so many fights can happen and the whales can get injured. Also these whales have acted out in performing shows and have hurt the performers. How many deaths does it have to take to realize these animals do not belong in captivity?
