Throughout the school year, students can be under a great deal of pressure. I think one day off per quarter without penalty would be a good way to let kids get a break at their leisure and refocus on school.

I'm starting this petition to find better energy sources, help reduce pollution, Improve the health of our community with nutrition, vitamins and minerals, healthy oils and proteins. Too many people in jails over a plant that is a major benefit to people in food, building industry, medicine, fabrics and clothes. 3-4 times a year harvest. Bring balance to middle class. "Legalize recreational use! Also allow studies on health benefits and cures for disease!" Legalize for home grown! "the use of marijuana should be up to the individual."

An application to demolish the building has been submitted. There is a community meeting on 10/30/14 and a Boston Landmarks Commission Meeting shortly thereafter. Many people want to save this significant historic building, including Boston’s historic preservation advocacy community , state legislators, and over 700 community residents and School alumnae who have already signed a preservation petition.

Labeling how much CO2 we produce will raise personal awareness and increase personal efforts to reduce fuel use. This is a nearly free way to help reduce our greenhouse gas emissions, and address global warming. A typical 16 gal. gas fill-up would note that "303 lbs of CO2 will be emitted to the atmosphere."

Sami Osmakac was found guilty of terrorism-related charges in June 2014 and faces the possibility of life in prison. Sami's sentence date is November 5th, 2014. His family, friends and supporters are desperately seeking the public's support to petition the state and federal government to release classified evidence that shows that Sami is extremely mentally ill and another victim of the FBI's terrorism entrapment efforts. Sami is currently in solitary confinement and is in poor health. The Watuaga Voting Rights Task Force just won a legal battle demanding an early voting location at Appalachian State University, after attempts had been made to deny students easy to the polls by removing the school's polling place. The judge demanded that a voting location be put back on campus, but he didn't say where. Now the state board will get to choose at where on campus, it will locate the early voting site. There is a very real fear that Republican board members will attempt to put the polling location in one of several obscure and hard-to-reach spots "on campus," instead of at the state-of-the-art facility that underwent renovations in 2012 to further accommodate voters. It's clear that the Republicans in power in North Carolina have tried time and time again to suppress the votes of Appalachian State's 17,000 students--who have overwhelmingly voted for progressives in past years. The attempts to suppress our votes have been seen around the country, even making it onto "The Rachel Maddow Show" last year. By refusing to allow students to vote in the Student Union, as thousands did in 2012, they continue to make their intentions clear: They don't want students to vote. For accessibility, tradition, and convenience, we are seeking an early voting site at the Appalachian State Student Union. Please stand up and support me and my fellow classmates as we fight for our right to participate in our democracy and vote!

I have a brother who was given 50 yrs for aggravated assault, that was never proven he did. He was a business owner with no previous background history. Injustice like that has to stop.

It is heart breaking to see that so many lives are lost for no reason. The fact that most of the time the police who commit these murders for no legitimate reason go unpunished makes these murders even worse.
