Concerned about serious accidents during inclement weather on the substandard, dangerous stretch of U.S. Highway 95 on Reisenauer Hill, Paradise Ridge Defense Coalition and citizens of Latah County, Idaho, again strongly urge the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) to immediately implement significant, site-specific measures to mitigate highway conditions and improve safety. Petition signers request that ITD lower and seek enforcement of the speed limit, erect reduced speed limit warning signs, and install rumble strips in appropriate places on this section of Highway 95.

African Americans have lost faith in our "Justice" system.

Even though dogs technically don't have rights in the government, this is discrimination against a specific breed. It's either all dogs or none. My house recently burned down and I was forced to look for a place to rent, and in Muskegon that's nearly impossible. I have been forced to get rid of my baby pit bull, Amber. She is the cutest, most loving dog I've ever met. She doesn't have a mean bone in her body. But no renters care; the second they hear 'pit bull' they deny me. Help me not only change laws of discrimination, but change people's hearts and expand their minds.

Public schools are part of the foundation of our nation and its society. While profiteers have filled our airwaves, store shelves, bellies, and medicine cabinets with useless to evil trinkets and crap like the Kardashians (and Honey Boo-Boo), public schools prepared young people to become smart citizens and capable workers. Unfortunately, the market has advanced the evils, sent jobs and opportunities overseas, and the very wealthy few have laughed all the way to the bank and turned upon schools--hoping to repurpose them into cost efficient factories for future cheap labor. It's time to take back democracy.

501(c) are being abused by political organizations.

Almost every year the power will go out for days at a time, and the water pressure to our homes is affected. If the power goes out for hours or days at a time, even if we have a generator for our homes, the community well pumphouse does not pump water. We need to have a dedicated backup generator for our neighborhood.

Warfleigh, Broad Ripple, North Butler-Tarkington and surrounding areas lie in a 100-year flood plain, placing lives and homes at risk. The Indianapolis North Flood Damage Reduction Project seeks to remove these areas from the flood plain. Most recently, the City of Indianapolis announced its plan to complete the project. However, opposition to the project remains strong with some seeking to either temporarily or permanently cease project progress. Meanwhile, while the lives and homes of residents remain at risk, Congress acted in 2012 to impose additional hardship upon affected residents by passing the Biggert-Waters Act which sharply increases premiums and rates charged to homeowners for flood insurance.

This proposed amendment was intended to give Congress the right to enact statutes criminalizing the burning or other desecration of the United States flag in a public protest. Proponents of legislation to proscribe flag burning argue that burning the flag is a very offensive gesture that deserves to be outlawed. Our flag represents the struggle our nation went through in earning and paving the way to freedom and no American she disrespect it so blatantly by publicly burning it. This is not a freedom of Speech issue, as protesters could come up with other ways to show their displeasure. Help me make it illegal to destroy the national symbol of our nations freedom!

My son died of a heroin overdose. We tried in vain to get him the help he needed, but we were only given 5-7 days in detox. He hated his addiction. One month before he died I cried , pleaded with his probation officer to please send him somewhere where he could stay to get the help he need. All I got back was we're doing the best we can with what we've got, and that he hasn't harmed anyone yet. I said to them, is that what it takes to place someone in harm's way before the system helps? I want this petition so that his death was not in vain. He was such a kind, successful, loving man.

Black victims of violence, particularly those who fall at the hands of police, are routinely painted explicitly or implicitly as somehow deserving of their fate. This has got to stop. I used to drive for a living and my trips took me over and under the Interstate 35 W bridge several times a week, frequently on a Friday afternoon between 5 and 5:30 p.m.. On the day the 35 bridge collapsed I had left work 4:30 and was in my kitchen preparing dinner when the story hit the airwaves. Every time I see the picture I am reminded that I could have been under that rubble. According to the Federal Highway Administration, more than 70,000 bridges throughout America are deemed “Structurally Deficient”. Corporate America,, local and state leaders, and even the conservative U.S. Chamber of Commerce are asking for massive investments in bridges, roads, railways and airports. According to the story, 30,000 well paying jobs would be created for every $1 billion of investment. It is time for Americans to say “Enough! Stop avoiding the problem and start fixing it!”.
