• Hybrid buses for Potrero Hill
Residents of Potrero Hill are already affected by pollution from both the 101 and 280 freeways. The city and Muni should prioritize allocation of newly purchased hybrid buses to Potrero Hill.

  • Removal of Confederate Flag on I-95 Spotsy/F'burg
The Confederate flag is offensive and demeaning to many African Americans, as a Nazi flag would be offensive to Jewish people. The United States of America represents one flag with stars and strips, which unites its people. A Confederate flag suggests division and seperatism and brings to mind the old "Jim Crow" laws of "white supremacy." This flag should be removed.

  • WWP Curriculum Committee: Approve the Grover 8th Grade German Trip to DC
For the past 10 years, 8th Grade German students at Grover have gone on an overnight trip to Washington, DC. A culminating event for our kids after studying German for three years, the trip is educational and tied directly into the curriculum. I want my child to benefit from this valuable experience: Allow the 8th Grade German trip.

  • Coastal safety
I am starting this petition because we've all known people who have died on the water, and thus know the danger. The people who have been saved by the vigilance of those folks on the helicopter are many. We need the eyes, ears, and knowledge these saviors in the sky posses to keep tragedies down.

  • To Make Oursourcing in the US Illegal
I am an employee of an airline that fired 600 of their career employees at all of their stations with the exception of their hub. This seems to be the future at many American companies where the only concern is the bottom line with no honor or commitment to their employees and to the future well being of our country. This will result in the disappearance of the middle class and the income that has made our country prosperous.

  • Require property owners to allow tenants to dry their clothes outside on their balconies and patios!
Many owners of apartment complexes forbid tenants to hang their clothes outside to dry because they think "it doesn't look nice". But our concern as a community should be "how can I cut down my energy use to save the planet?" Hanging clothes outside to dry is economical and uses no energy. Everyone should be able to use the sun and the wind to dry their clothes if they choose. It's time to get rid of this archaic lease term!

  • Require bicycle parking in multi-family dwelling units
This issue affects me and my neighbors where we live, adjacent to the regional Bay Trail in bicycle-friendly Alameda, California. It is just wrong that apartment owners provide car parking spaces to their tenants but no place to secure their bicycles! A decree by Governor Brown would require all cities in California to put the bicycle parking provision in their zoning ordinances, who in turn would require all multi-family housing owners to provide a secure bike shed or bike lockers on the property AND allow bicycles to be stored on patios, decks and balconies.

  • Stop the Kinder Morgan/Tennessee Gas Pipeline Co. Northeast Energy Direct Project
We do not need it! You have a done a good job in advancing the use of renewable energy sources in our state. There is more than enough gas-pipeline capacity to meet our domestic electricity needs here in Massachusetts, especially given our energy efficiency programs, a fact backed up by reports commissioned by NESCOE. The Low Demand Scenario outlined in the Black & Veatch study has NOT been investigated as an option, an omission I urge you to remedy. Do not mar your track record.

  • Stand With Ellison, Lee, and Davis: End #Gaza Blockade With Diplomacy
Three Members of Congress have publicly called for an end to the blockade of Gaza: Reps. Keith Ellison, Barbara Lee, and Danny Davis —and we want more Congressional representatives to to join them. This is a critical moment. Israeli and Palestinian officials are scheduled to resume talks on Gaza at the end of October. Hamas has already agreed to hand control of the Gaza crossings to the Palestinian Authority. European countries are ready to help monitor the crossings. European donors want the blockade to be lifted with a diplomatic agreement before committing reconstruction aid, so they can be sure to get materials into Gaza in a timely way and so things they build won’t later be destroyed. The political and diplomatic situation is ripe to finally end the blockade with a diplomatic agreement. Last month, beloved actor and social justice activist Danny Glover publicly called on Members of Congress to stand with Ellison and Lee in speaking out for an end to the blockade. [1] United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has said, “The blockade of Gaza must end; Israel’s legitimate security concerns must be addressed.” He has warned, “Any peace effort that does not tackle the root causes of the crisis will do little more than set the stage for the next cycle of violence.” [2] Palestinian civilians in Gaza need and deserve to live a normal life: free to travel, free to work, free to study, free to trade. Urge your representatives in Congress to speak out now by signing and sharing our petition. • Declare a World War on Climate Change ("WW2C")
We simply can't afford to wait: the risks to our world are just too great. Obama has just one year left to tackle this problem but the stranglehold of the people/corporations/lobbyists who would prevent us from defending ourselves from this threat make a political response impossible. It is the sworn duty of the President to defend America from enemies and climate deniers must be seen as being the (self-serving) enemy of the state that they really are. Declaring "war" generates enormous economic potential, so let's also kick-start our economy by gearing up solar manufacturing here, research and development for "good" (LFTR) nuclear and training our troops not to kill but to deploy solar panels everywhere. With this war we can: 1) Move our country and our partner countries quickly into a collective clean energy future; 2) Defeat the fossil fuel hegemony that will kill our planet for profit; 3) End the increase in carbon emissions and rapidly decrease global emissions to allow our climate to stabilize; 4) Rapidly de-fund Middle East terrorists who benefit from our need for oil and our revenues; 5) Build a military that has the skills that are needed in the clean energy work force of the future and 6) Fund the R&D necessary to expedite the technologies that enable us to further mitigate and adapt to the amount of climate change that is already under way.
