  • Citizens' Call for a National Database of Police Shootings Resulting in Injury or Death.
We are tired of watching our young people attacked and murdered by the very men and women we employ to serve and protect us. We all have a right to know how frequently the police employ brutal methods on the job and along what race lines this is happening. By creating a national database, we are creating the tools we need to study the problem on a national level in order to come to workable solutions in our individual communities.

  • Say NO to computer testing in K-2nd grades
Besides taking inordinate amount of time to administer, computer testing of young children in K-2nd grades is inappropriate. These children do not have the developmental skills or physical abilities to type and use a mouse, which are needed to take a computer test. Nor do they have the attention span to take a 30 to 40 minute test on a computer. Children are exposed to stress and anxiety unnecessarily. Furthermore, children without computers at home are at a strong disadvantage, thus increasing the educational gap. Results from computer tests do not assess a teacher’s ability to teach or improve our children’s education. Testing is necessary, but it should complement teaching and not hinder it. Computer-based tests only show which items were missed or correct, but they do not show why the student answered the way they did. When a paper/pencil test is given in a small group setting, the teacher can observe the students' thinking process, which is instrumental in guiding instruction for the students. In this setting, teachers can improve their performance or enhance specific teaching skills.

  • ISC Gunners FC. Enough! We want a new board NOW!
Wait…isn’t this supposed to be about the kids? This is supposed to be a club that is, from its own website, “dedicated to teaching our youth the remarkable game of soccer while promoting sportsmanship, discipline and teamwork.” This email and the apparent events of the past several months (years?) clearly indicates this board is incapable of leading by its own values. Sportsmanship? Discipline? Teamwork? Hardly. Instead, as parents and coaches, we are watching a political nightmare and what appears to be an abuse of power. Financial improprieties?…conflicts of interest?…misuse of club’s membership directory? And yet, all we get is a vague email assuring us that everything is ok and the board is going to do a better job now? We have lost all trust and confidence in the board oversight of this club. This is behavior we would not tolerate in our children and we should not tolerate it in our so-called “leaders”.

  • Get The Live Lobster Tanks out of Publix Supermarkets
Publix claims that shopping in their stores is a "pleasure".. Which is true in most instances. Having to walk past a tank of Live Lobsters which are obviously suffering while waiting to be bought and boiled alive is DISTURBING.. And shows a lack of compassion on the part of the store.

  • Governor Duval
In 1984 children and family workers came into my house and lied to obtain custody of my 27 day old baby even though there was nothing wrong with her. They adopted her out to a former person who use to work for Department of Youth Services because she couldn't have children and wanted my Stephanie. I was mentally abused also threatened! If camera's were in place I would have never watched her walk out the door. They lie!

  • Rock Wall on MSU's campus
As a potential leader in the green movement and containing a large student base looking for entertainment and exercise, MSU should pursue sustainable recreation in the form of a rock wall made of recyclable materials. It could set a standard of environmental awareness in recreational facilities and provide a piece of infrastructure that the East Lansing area is lacking.

  • Bring AT&T U-verse to ALL of Springboro, Ohio!!
As a growing community, the city of Springboro, Ohio offers many amenities to it's citizens. A choice in high speed internet is not one of those amenities. For High Speed Internet, Time Warner Cable is the ONLY choice. AT&T offers DSL at 6 mbps, while TWC Roadrunner High Speed Internet offers up to 50 mpbs. Beyond AT&T DSL and Time Warner, there is no other option. If U-verse were available, it would be at speeds up to 45 mbps and would provide some competition for Time Warner Cable. By their own admission, TWC suffers from "intermittent outage problems" in Springboro, an issue they have no motivation to correct, because they have almost no competition. In recent weeks, many residents have complained about diminishing internet speeds from TWC, even when paying for the high-priced "Ultimate" or "Extreme" Roadrunner. The addition of U-verse to the area would provide some motivation for TWC to address the issues they have in this area. As citizens of Springboro, we demand a choice - and it is our right to have a choice.

  • We the people deserve to know our votes count
Citizens United prevents the average person's voice from being heard. Voter turnouts are already low this will only influence more people to not be involved in their government. What good is a democracy if elections can easily be influenced by massive amounts of money. The U.S. Supreme Court made a mistake, now it is up to the people to fix it.
