Right now Congress can restore those protections by passing this important bill. Representative Collins should support this effort by cosponsoring and fighting for a strong bill. Our democracy should do whatever possible to allow more of its citizens to vote and never attempt take actions prohibiting voting.

    I am the mother of two children with autism and have been involved in the autism community for nearly 2 decades. There is a great deal of dangerous historical precedent for categorizing medical conditions as God's punishment. It leads to people with those conditions being treated as lesser human beings, something that is unacceptable in a democratic society.

    Voting Rights Act (1965) erased discrimination against disenfranchised Americans, poor and minority citizens, elderly and others. The latest legal road block to equality returns us to a time when citizens were prevented from casting their votes. We should not allow these limits, and push to revive the Voting Rights Act.

  • OPPOSITION TO PROPOSED REZONING OF THE OLD SCHOOL PROPERTY
    My home is adjacent to the property in question. I am raising a family in this neighborhood. I am concerned there will be more traffic on our one way road, nighttime security lighting, extra noise, strangers in the neighborhood and lower property resale values. I also worry that the beautiful, historic old school property will not be preserved. Business does not belong in the heart of a family neighborhood or in the West Main Historic District.
