It's time to stand up to the extremists who want to expel 12,000,000 hard working immigrants and fight for a practical immigration solution rooted in the restoration of the rule of law, earned citizenship, united families and fair treatment for all workers. Sessions to support a pathway to citizenship for the 11 million immigrants currently living in the United State without papers. Most of these immigrants have lived in this country for more than a decade and have come to America to seek a better life for their families. They are Americans-in-waiting who are ready to fulfill the requirements of our citizenship process - to study English, pay taxes, maintain a good record and be of good moral character. Instead of focusing only on the border, we need a new approach that is better for families and makes more economic sense.

Why am I doing this? Because I have friends that teach, because I want to teach, because to change careers and teach means I have to be paid less than half of what I would make as a skilled laborer WITHOUT a Masters in Education, or even a degree. THAT isn't right, and it isn't fair.

Nā Pua No‘eau has been successful in developing a model of working with students through community issues and topics. It utilizes its research on optimizing learning of Hawaiian students in the context of leadership, raising aspirations and higher achievement. It has successfully integrated university resources (faculty and facilities) to bridge a greater appreciation of higher learning and education as a vehicle for community development. The result is that the students believe higher education is a viable way to improve the conditions of their family and their community. This momentum needs to be sustained. It needs to have continuous presence and opportunities for those from under-served communities, especially Hawaiians. There are also many more students and communities that need to access these opportunities.

My petition is to not fight in Syria , as a tax payer and a citizen I have come to say enough is enough. There are other ways to make justice but not killing anymore people.

Blowing things up in Syria will help no one and have negative effects on our relations with China and Russia. It would be illegal aggression under the UN Charter, and breaking UN rules because we are against others breaking other UN rules makes little sense. Giving the Syrian people gas masks will actually help them, it is legal, and it will not make any other nations mad at us.

The public should be concerned about this issue as there are currently no laws that govern the use of domestic drones by either civilians or public agencies. The California legislature is considering two drone bills, both of which allow drones and put enforcement into the hands of the public, a nearly impossible and unrealistic prospect. Along with privacy concerns, domestic drones present safety hazards (they can fly into each other and fall on someone's head), they promote criminality (theft, burglary and predator use), and they also present a wide range of abuse by law enforcement, particularly if they are operated for unauthorized general surveillance. Our State Assembly must enact legislation which is designed to serve the interests of the citizens not the interests of Homeland Security or law enforcement. Domestic drone use must must be closely monitored for law enforcement purposes and regulated to preserve and protect citizens' Constitutional rights otherwise a society with "Big Brother" watching could become a reality.
